Phillip Leonell Bridges, 86, of Winterville, Georgia passed away on August 24, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family. Phil is the son of the late Lee Walker Bridges and Mary Agnes Hancock Bridges. Phil was preceded in death by his sister, Annie Hughes. Phil was born June 28, 1937, in Commerce, GA. He graduated high school in Union Point, GA in 1955, then went on to serve in the United States Air Force for almost 7 years. Phil attended Athens Tech and obtained an electronics degree. He worked for Reliance Electric for more than 20 years and then retired from Merial Ltd. Phil was a "Fixer" of all things. His children considered him their "personal" handyman, and he could pretty much do it all! Phil is survived by his wife of 63 years, Janice Meyer Bridges, his children Jackie (Joe) Holder, Lynn (Jim) Matthews, Stacy (Charles) Dayton, 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Gene Bridges, Paul Bridges and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Agape Hospice for their loving care at the end of Phil's life. Anne Heyward Mingledorff, 74, peacefully passed away after a long illness on Wednesday, May 24 in Winterville, Georgia surrounded by loved ones. The lifelong resident of Savannah was preceded in death by her parents Ralston Everett and Marjory Heyward Mingledorff and siblings, Elizabeth Percival Mingledorff and George Heyward Mingledorff. Surviving are one brother, Ralston Everett Mingledorff,Jr. and three children. A daughter, Cameron Bliss Ferrelle (Dodd); two sons, Lewis Craighill "Craig" Bliss Jr. , Ralston McAlpin Mingledorff; three grandchildren, Dodd Inglesby Jr. , Bliss Heyward and Lucas MacConn Ferrelle; one nephew and several cousins. Special thanks to Linley Budreau "Bud" Mingledorff . Anne was a loving daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Savannah where she spent many years serving her church community which was so near and dear to her heart. She was also a lifelong animal rights advocate as well as a talented and accomplished artist. Besides her love for family, church and animals, she also had a passion for creativity and more specifically for painting. Anne loved creating intricately detailed religious icons covered in gold leaf as well as more loosely painted coastal marsh scapes and local architecture. Anne had a thirst for knowledge and creativity and was surrounded by her sketch books and books on religion until and on the day she died. The graveside service will be held at 11:00AM Tuesday, May 30 in the Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery. Nellie Grace Martin Holder, beloved mother, of Winterville, GA, died January 26, 2023. Born August 18, 1938 in Walterboro, SC, she was the daughter of the late Wesley Jerome Martin, Sr. and Mabel Grace Harper Martin and was preceded in death by her infant son, Robert Holder. Nell grew up in Winterville, GA. She received her Business Degree from The University of Georgia and worked as an accountant with Martin Well Company for a number of years. Later in life, she was a bailiff with Athens-Clarke County Courts. Nell was a wonderful mother to Donald "Don" J. Holder (Kim), Henry "Hank" Grady Holder (Tammy) and Debra Grace Fincher (Jeff); she was Mimi to grandchildren, Katie Elwell (Warren), Huck Holder (Kendall), Bo Holder (Taylor), KellyAnne Scott (Jonathan), Hunter Holder, Heath Holder (Lauren), Sue Anna Holder (Grant Norton), Buck Harris and Jake Harris (Brittany); 8 great grandchildren; brother, Jerome (Gayle) Martin and numerous cousins. The family will receive friends at Lord and Stephens, EAST, Sunday, January 29, 2023 beginning at 2:00 PM. Services will follow in the chapel at 3:00 PM. Burial will be at Tuckston United Methodist Church Cemetery. Shirley Marie Carter, age 93, of Winterville, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 7, 2022. Shirley was born on August 29, 1929, in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, the daughter of the late Dewey Maine Horner and Robena Lee Rudd. Shirley was Baptist by faith and was a faithful member of Tabernacle Baptist Church for many years before moving to Winterville and joining Winterville First Baptist church in 2000. She loved spending time with her daughters and grandchildren and serving in her church. She will be truly missed by everyone who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert Carter; sisters, Thelma Duncan and Mary Doris Stephens; and brothers, Richard Horner and D. M. Horner, Jr. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughters; Robbin (Joel) Besley and Donna Poelstra; brother, Franklin Horner; grandchildren, William Hendrick, Gennie (Stephen) Laramore, Jason Lambert, Sean (Megan) McKinney and Adam (Jessica) Koehler; great-grandchildren, Jodie McKinney, Carter Thompson, Rylee and Rhyan McKinney, Remington Koehler and Israel Duttlinger; and many friends whom she loved dearly.
