Phillip Bridges Obituary

Phillip Leonell Bridges, 86, of Winterville, Georgia passed away on August 24, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family. Phil is the son of the late Lee Walker Bridges and Mary Agnes Hancock Bridges. Phil was preceded in death by his sister, Annie Hughes. Phil was born June 28, 1937, in Commerce, GA. He graduated high school in Union Point, GA in 1955, then went on to serve in the United States Air Force for almost 7 years. Phil attended Athens Tech and obtained an electronics degree. He worked for Reliance Electric for more than 20 years and then retired from Merial Ltd. Phil was a "Fixer" of all things. His children considered him their "personal" handyman, and he could pretty much do it all! Phil is survived by his wife of 63 years, Janice Meyer Bridges, his children Jackie (Joe) Holder, Lynn (Jim) Matthews, Stacy (Charles) Dayton, 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Gene Bridges, Paul Bridges and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Agape Hospice for their loving care at the end of Phil's life.
