Philip Dean Parish, 83, of Kennard passed away on the evening of Sunday, September 10, 2023 at Community Hospital in Anderson. He was born on September 7, 1940 in Carthage, IN, a son of the late Russell Lowell and Anna Elizabeth (Storie) Parish. Phil was a 1958 graduate of Carthage High School where he played basketball and ran cross country. He married the love of his life, Janell Conner, on October 6, 1963 at Fountaintown Christian Church. Phil worked in sales traveling across Indiana for several farming equipment companies including Hesston Corporation and Bush Hog Corporation. He was a member of the Carthage United Methodist Church and enjoyed singing karaoke, dancing, reading, studying history and current events. Phil loved his family, his dogs and telling funny stories and jokes to anyone along his way. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 60 years, Janell Parish; a son, Philip "Alan" (Jill) Parish; six grandchildren, Jake Doty, Monica (Mitch) Pohlar, Morgan Wehr, Brooke Conover, Leslie Conover, Maddie Brockman and a great-granddaughter, Annabel Pohlar. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a twin brother, Billy Gene Parish and a sister, Jacqueline Sue Moore. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army in honor of Phil. He always said, "There is nothing worse than a child going without Christmas!" Visitation will be held from 5 - 8pm, Thursday, September 14, 2023 at Heritage Funeral Care in Knightstown. Robert "Pop" Lee White, 53, of Charlottesville, IN, passed away unexpectedly on the evening of Wednesday, November 29, 2023. He was born on February 26, 1970, Greenfield, IN, a son of Charles White Jr. Pop worked as a Survey Technician for HNTB in Indianapolis. He spent many years in the industry and was very passionate about his work. He was a connoisseur of the finer things in life, such as bourbon, Star Wars, and music of all kinds. He worshiped at the altar of Phil Collins and Genesis. He loved comedy, with a wicked sense of humor that was second to none. He loved spending his time off and going for Jeep rides with his best friend and love of his life, Nancy. His biggest passion in life was his family. He loved fiercely and never left you wondering how he felt. His "Bigs" and "Littles" were his whole world. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Nancy White (Jenkins); two daughters, Aubrey Masters and Ashley (husband and best son-in law ever, Mike) Cate; four grandchildren, Brandon, Breeley, Piper and Perry (whom he lovingly referred to as Bub, Sissy, Stink, and Perold); a sister, Stacey Baker; special dog, Lido and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Robert was preceded in death by his father, Charles White Jr. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 9th at the Lodge at Nameless Creek, 2675 South 600 East, Greenfield, IN 46140, from 6-10pm. "KNIGHTSTOWN - Lindsay Marie Locker, age 17, of Knightstown, passed away Sunday, November 26, 2023. She was born in Greenfield on May 23, 2006, to Lacey (Miller) Locker and Matthew Locker. She was in her senior year at Eastern Hancock High School and worked at Chicago's Pizza in Greenfield. She was an active member of Hancock County 4-H where she was a 10-year Swine Club Member. She participated in the 4-H Queens Pageant the last two years and was in the Blue River Guys \u0026amp; Gals 4-H Club. Lindsay participated in cheerleading for the last 13 years and was a Varsity Cheerleader. She was also the FFA secretary at Eastern Hancock. She liked helping children through the Boys \u0026amp; Girls Club after school program. Lindsay was a passionate animal lover and was on track to becoming a vet tech. She loved spending time and making memories with her family and friends, who will miss her infectious smile and witty personality. Lindsay is survived by her mother, Lacey Locker of Spiceland; father, Matt Locker of Knightstown; brother, Dakota Locker (Lacy Goodnight) of Seymour; sister, Lauren Locker of Knightstown; maternal grandmother, Linda McGee of Spiceland; paternal grandparents, Russ (Gail) Locker of Greenfield; paternal grandparents, Toni (David) Roland of Charlottesville; aunts and uncles, Brandon (Kristin) Miller of Greenfield, Brittany (Josh) Tompkins of Wilkinson, Abbigail Miller of Morristown, Kevin (Brittney) Roland of Middleton and George (Amanda) Locker of Willow Branch; and many cousins and friends. Betty June Griffin, a cherished wife, devoted mother, beloved Nana, and affectionately known as "June Bug" by her older brother, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2023, surrounded by her daughters. Her departure has left a profound void in the hearts of her family, who deeply mourn her loss. Born on June 18, 1946, to Opal and J. Savel Conley. Betty was the middle child of 5. She grew up in Carthage, Indiana, and attended Carthage High School. Her life was forever touched when she met the love of her life, James Griffin, during her time as a car hop. Betty embraced various roles throughout her life with unwavering dedication; from being a nurturing mother and doting Nana to working in diverse fields such as accounting, home health care, and even as an automotive painter at a factory. She was fascinated by the wonders of science fiction. Betty found joy in crafting, particularly in crocheting and cross-stitching. Being an avid reader, she particularly adored mystery stories. Her fondness for cats and avid bird watching reflected her deep appreciation for the natural world. Her passion for rocks and minerals became a legacy she passed down to her family, just as her annual Thanksgiving side of stuffing became a beloved tradition. Betty's heart overflowed with love for her beautiful grandchildren, and her legacy lives on through the kindness and affection she showered upon her family and friends. Her compassionate nature drew strangers to her, eager to share their life stories with someone who exuded empathy and warmth. As we bid farewell to Betty Griffin, we hold onto cherished memories of her boundless love, generosity, and the enduring impact she made on the lives she touched. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion and a treasure trove of beautiful moments that will forever be etched in our hearts. Betty L. Ross, 76, of Carthage, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family early on the morning of Monday, November 13, 2023. She was born on January 6, 1947, in Mullens, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Hubert Cole Jr. and Mamie (Vance) Cole. Betty was a 1964 graduate of Mullens High School and married the love of her life, Roger Ross, on December 15, 1964. For five years, they lived in Springfield, Massachusetts, where she worked at Smith & Wesson before moving to Indiana. Betty was an executive assistant at American Red Ball Transit in Indianapolis for many years, retiring in 1998. She enjoyed sewing, flower gardening, and watching the shopping channels. Betty loved decorating and was very fashion-conscious. She loved her family and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Those left to cherish Betty's memory include her husband of 58 years, Roger Allen Ross; two children, Tamra (Jason) Hammons of Arlington and Jarrod Ross of Indianapolis; nine grandchildren, Priscilla (Justin) Wilson, Cody Hammons, Braeleigh Haltom, Alexia Hammons, Nhoe Haltom, Jake Hammons, Karrigan Hammons, Haden Hammons, and Gabriel Hammons; five great-grandchildren, Preslie Wilson, Gatlin Wilson, Adelaide Hammons, Sylar Hammons, and Colter Wilson; three sisters, Pat (Vaughn) Kuhns of Mohawk, Shirley (Steve) Coop of Greenfield, and Debbie Cole of Indianapolis, and several nieces and nephews. Linda Gale Ross, 67, went to be with her Heavenly Father on October 30, 2023 in her family's home surrounded by loved ones. She was born on January 6, 1956 in Rutherford County, TN and raised in Indianapolis, IN, a daughter of the late Jake "JC" Rich and Marie Rich. Linda attended Manual High School and graduated in 1974. She was a member of Knightstown Church of God and worked for several years at Hancock Memorial Hospital. Linda spent her life as a loving, devoted, wife and mother and loved her family with all her heart and soul. She also loved the Lord and had a great zest for life, laughter and all things beautiful. Linda will be dearly missed and never forgotten. Mary G. Wood, 85, of Carthage, passed away unexpectedly on the evening of Saturday, August 5, 2023 at Rush Memorial Hospital. She was born on March 22, 1938 in Rush County, Indiana, a daughter of the late Harry and Beatrice (Whitfield) Stacy. Mary was a 1956 graduate of Carthage High School and she married her high school sweetheart, John Wood, on October 28, 1956. They were a "Country Couple," and when the government built a dam on their family farm in Carthage, they turned the property into Wood's Lake and Campground. Mary loved running the bait shop on the campground. For many years, John and Mary enjoyed playing and performing Country and Western music across Indiana and on the weekends at the campground. Mary enjoyed cooking, fishing, caring for animals, and wintering with John and their family in Okeechobee, Florida. Those left to cherish Mary's memory include her husband of 66 years, John Wood; her daughter, Juliann Davis of Carthage; four grandchildren, Starla (Mike) Devlin of Clermont, FL, David Lockridge of Atlanta, GA, Karen Whorton of Carthage, and Greg Wood of Rushville; several great-grandchildren including Logan and Amelia Devlin, and a sister-in-law, Mary Lynn Lareau of Fishers. Larry Howard Barnes, 83, of Knightstown, IN passed away peacefully on the evening of Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at Greenfield Health Care Center. He was born on "nine - twenty - 19 and 39" in Paoli, IN, son of the late Marshall "Bill" and Ruth (Jones) Barnes. Larry graduated from Paoli High School and later attended Indiana State and Indiana University earning a Master's degree. He married the love of his life, Judy Hoesman on June 19, 1960. Larry was a teacher, athletic director, coach, guidance counselor and driver's education instructor for the Charles A. Beard School Corporation in Knightstown and retired in 2001 after 32 years. He was a faithful member of Knightstown United Methodist Church and enjoyed singing in the choir and with a traveling gospel quartet, Praise. He also honorably received the Knightstown Citizen of the Year award in 1990. Larry had a love for trains and the LA Dodgers. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Judy Barnes; a son, Eric Barnes; a daughter, Angie (James) Holt; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
