Philip (Phil) Boreen, 81, died October 4 , 2023, at home in Gilbert, Arizona. Phil was born July 17, 1942, in St. Paul, Minnesota to Ted and Ethel Boreen. Phil loved Minnesota and would often share his cherished memories of growing up there. He enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, often visiting with family and engaging in lively card games, such as 500, where his competitive spirit and quick wit shone. He leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories and a treasure trove of knowledge. Phil had an incredible gift of storytelling, captivating everyone with his tales that were as rich as the history he held within his heart. His memory for dates and details was unmatched, a true historian of his time. Phil is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Ted and Ethel Boreen. His is survived by wife, Nancy Boreen; children, John (Jean) Boreen and Janette (Mike) Kinney; grandchildren, Amanda (Jeff) Laue, Laura Boreen, and Cole Kinney; and great grandchildren, Chloe, Tristen, Marie, and Lucian Laue. Phil will be remembered for his boundless wisdom, unforgettable stories, and unwavering loyalty. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished in our hearts.

On the evening of Sunday, November 26th, 2023, Joseph "Joe" Lopez Rodriquez, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully while surrounded by family. He was 85 years old. Joseph was born on March 13th, 1938 to Ruth and John Rodriguez. He and his siblings were raised in Chandler, Arizona. At the age of 15, he met the love of his life Delia at a Catholic Youth Organization dance. In 1959, he married Delia and together they raised five children in Gilbert, Arizona. Joseph was an incredibly hard worker. He proudly served our country as a United States Marine,worked as a volunteer firefighter in the Town of Gilbert, and retired as a heavy equipment operator. Before retiring, he often spent his weekends rounding up and treating sick cattle. Joseph enjoyed rainy days, family gatherings, ranching, and gardening. He is perhaps best known for his salsa that was made with garden-fresh habaneros. He was a tender-hearted man who loved spending time with his family and friends. Joseph exemplified the true meaning of love, strength, and hard work. He would often say "A man is only as good as his word;" he set a grand example of this by being a supportive husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He has made a profound impact on the lives of many and will be greatly missed. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents Ruth and John Rodriguez and sons Michael and Joey Rodriquez. Beverly Janet Burnett, of Florence, Arizona, passed away November 25th, 2023 in Gilbert, Arizona surrounded by family. Beverly was born March 13, 1949 to Raymond and Bertha Beaudry in Providence, Rhode Island. Beverly married the love of her life, James Burnett, Jr. , June 17th, 1972, this year they celebrated their 51st Wedding Anniversary. Beverly worked for Gem Case in Cranston, RI for 25 years all while raising 4 beautiful daughters. December 2003 Beverly and James relocated to Florence, Arizona where Beverly worked and retired as a Bakery Associate for Fry's grocery from 2004-2019. Beverly enjoyed reading, painting, and drawing, but especially enjoyed going to the movies with her daughters and grandkids. Beverly loved spending time with her family and friends. Beverly is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Beaudry and Bertha Beaudry along with her brothers, Robert Beaudry and Raymond Beaudry,Left to cherish Beverly's memory is her husband of 51 years, James Burnett Jr. , her daughters, Dale Palka, Dawn Marie Poirier, Heavenly Strahan, and Kathleen Burnett, her brother, Paul Beaudry, her sister, Diane Coleman, her grandchildren, Kimberly Marandola, Raymond Burnett, Derek Stern, Hope LaChance-Rogers, Kasie Strahan, and Louis Palka Jr. , her great grandchildren, Savannah Braley, Oliver Burnett, and Jaxson Stern as well as her beloved nieces and nephews. William "Bill" Quick, 83, of Gilbert, AZ, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2023, at Lund Family Hospice House in Gilbert, AZ. The son of Virgil Quick and Lucille (Fado) Quick, Bill was born on March 16, 1940 in Wichita, KS. A graduate of Wichita East High School, Bill attended Washburn University in Topeka, KS, where he was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity and on scholarship with the basketball team from 1958-1962. Bill averaged 20. 1 points per game in his final season with the team and 12. 8 points per game for his career. After graduation, Bill married the love of his life, Sandy (Zeller) Quick on July 21, 1962. In 1970, they moved their young family to Newton. Iowa, where he embarked on a 30-year career as a teacher, coach and administrator with the Newton Community School District. From 1970 to 1986, he taught Government to thousands of graduating Seniors. Early in his career, he served as an assistant coach in both Boys Basketball and Football. In 1975, he was named the first head Girls Basketball coach in school history, a position he held through 1980. He was also the Girls Softball head coach from 1973 to 1982 and Boys Track head coach from 1982 to 1988. In 1986, he became Athletic Director. He served as a Central Iowa IHSADA officer and in 1996 was named Central Iowa Athletic Director of the Year. Under his guidance, the Newton football program qualified for the state playoffs for 13 straight years and reached the title game in 1988 and 1990. The school also captured two state golf championships and made three state tournament appearances in basketball during his tenure. Upon his retirement in 2000, Bill received the IHSM Administrator Award and in 2001 he was inducted into the IHSADA Hall of Fame. In 2001, Bill and Sandy moved to Gilbert, AZ and enjoyed their retirement traveling, golfing, attending sporting events and spending time with their grandchildren. After Sandy's death, Bill was fortunate to meet the second love of his life, Dorothy Eisenbarth. They were united in marriage on June 30, 2012 and were able to enjoy many happy years together. Those left to honor his memory include his wife Dorothy of Gilbert, AZ, his son Steve (Gwen) Davis-Quick of Burlington, IA, his son Mike (Michel) Quick of Ankeny, IA, his daughter Kathie (Eric) Linden of Gilbert, AZ, his brother Gary (Johanna) Quick of Wichita, KS, his daughter-in-law Lori (Rick) Schuermann of Gilbert, AZ, his daughter-in-law Juneil Eisenbarth of Tempe, AZ, his son-in-law Craig Eisenbarth of Tacoma, WA, his son-in-law Darrin (Gladys) Eisenbarth of Lompoc, CA, his sister-in-law Penny Randolph of Salina, KS, his grandchildren Megan Linden, Alex Linden, Joseph Quick, Nathan Linden, Jakkob Davis-Quick and Nicole Schuermann, his cousins, his numerous nieces and nephews, his extended family members, his many friends and colleagues and his beloved dog, Mia. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Sandy, his brother Jim Quick, his brother-in-law Nick Roach, his sister-in-law Carol Roach, his nephew Steven Carl Quick and his daughter-in-law Jen Severns. A Celebration of Life will be held on December 22, 2023 at 3:00pm at Love of Christ Lutheran Church in Mesa, AZ.
