Phil Brown Obituary

Services for Phil W. Brown, 78, of Grand Saline, are scheduled for 2 p. m. , Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at Bartley Funeral Home, with Bro. Gerald Denton officiating. Interment with military honors will be in Woodside Cemetery, Grand Saline. Mr. Brown passed away April 23, 2023, at his residence in Grand Saline. He was born October 9, 1944, in Grand Saline to W. L. and Helen Ruth Oxford Brown. Phil was raised in Grand Saline, graduated from Grand Saline High School, class of 1963, and was a member of Main Street Baptist Church. He served in the US Army and the Texas National Guard from 1966-1976 and was a member of Masonic Lodge #1269. On February 12, 1966, he married Jeanie Neal in Grand Saline. Phil worked as the plant manager at East Texas Feeds in Mineola for many years and then retired as maintenance director at Willow Brook Country Club in Tyler. He was one of the founding members of the Grand Saline Youth Foundation, coached for many years, and umpired high school and youth foundation baseball games. He was a board member of the Pruitt-Sand Flat Water Supply. Phil loved to camp and sit on his back porch. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charlie Brown and Bradford Brown; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Linda and Mike Koonce and sister-in-law, Donna Brown. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Jeanie Brown of Grand Saline; four sons, Brian Brown and wife Jane of Grand Saline, Brady Brown and wife Angela of Grand Saline, Brandon Brown of Van, and Bear Brown and wife Amber of Grand Saline; brother, Justin Brown of Grand Saline; three brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, William Neal and wife Sharon of Grand Saline, Glenn Neal and wife Marcille of Mesquite, and Lynn "Hopper" Neal and wife Hilda of Grand Saline; fourteen grandchildren, Ryan Brown and wife Cortney, Donovan Brown and wife Merritt, Josh Helms and wife Bonnie, Elizabeth Santos and husband Wyatt, Casey Hays and husband Jake, Adam Brown, Hailey Whitehead and husband C. J. , Zach Brown, Chloe "Co Co" Brown, Carley Rice, Luke Fraim, Cooper Brown, Carson Brown, and Chrissy Presscott; eleven great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be Adam Brown, Ryan Brown, Donovan Brown, Zach Brown, Luke Fraim, Cooper Brown, Carson Brown, and Josh Helms. Honorary pallbearers will be William Neal, Hopper Neal, Woody Joslin, Steven Autry, Sam Looney, Glen Neal, Jerry "Red" Bolin, and Justin Brown. The family will receive friends, 1 p. m. , Wednesday, at the funeral home.
