Peter "Wolf" Guy Wachsberger, age 69, of Boone, left this earth on February 13th, 2019. Pete was born May 24, 1949 in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, the only child of Nandor and Elizabeth Wachsberger. Pete spent most of his adult life as a professional photographer. He had a great eye and a love for capturing amazing photos of nature, wildlife and people. In addition to photography, Pete enjoyed history and politics, digital art, table-top gaming with his son Gary, and electronic gaming. In his later years, Pete developed an interest in bald eagles, including collaborating with Darci Thelaner and author Susan Crouse Schneider on the book "Decorah Eagles: A Love Story". It was well known that Pete never met a vegetable he did not hate, and the only way a steak was acceptable was fresh off the bone. He was never afraid to share his dry wit and opinions with others. Pete and his partner, Darci Thelaner, have lived the last decade in Boone, Iowa, with Pete taking an interest in local politics and sharing his voice at political rallies. They both enjoyed gardening, photography, and Darci's fried chicken. Pete had some significant health challenges in the last few years. This last round of difficulties proved to be too much for his body. Darci has been by his side through all of his illnesses these past few years. Pete is survived by his partner, Darci Thelaner of Boone; his son, Gary Wachsberger of Eagan, Minnesota; grandchildren, Samantha, Justin, and Xander; many extended family members and friends. Papa Pete will be greatly missed by all. Following Pete's wishes, he has been cremated and a Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
