Obituary of Peter Kelley Peter Lawrence Kelley, 86, formerly of Pleasant Street, Keeseville, passed away, Monday, February 11, 2019 at the Clinton County Nursing Home in Plattsburgh. He was born in Keeseville, April 17, 1932, the son of Peter G. and Irene (Lesperance) Kelley and grandson of Peter and Leah Lesperance. Peter served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1951 until his honorable discharge in 1955. He retired as a Sergeant from the NYS Department of Corrections in 1983, following 27 years of dedicated service. Peter was a lifelong member of St. John the Baptist Church in Keeseville and served numerous positions within that community. God, family, and country were his focus. He always thought the better of people. Left to cherish the memory of Peter are, his wife of 63 years, Pearl F. (DeHaan) Kelley, who he married December 3, 1955 in St. John's Church in Keeseville; three daughters, Barbara, Susan, and Jeannine (Steven) Light; three sons, Steven, John (Angela), and Bill (Karen); 7 grandchildren; 3 great grandsons; sister, Jane (Robert) Studebaker; sisters-in-law, Helen DeHaan and Lorraine Kelley; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Peter was predeceased by his brother, Colin. There will be no public calling hours. A Mass Of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, February 14, 2019 at 11 AM at St. John the Baptist Church in Keeseville, with Rev. Kris C. Lauzon, parish priest, celebrating. Military honors will follow Mass, inside the church. Committal prayers and burial will be held in the spring in the Evergreen Cemetery in Keeseville. A reception will be held at a later date.
