Peter Bannon - 76
June 16, 2022
Savannah, GA
Peter O. Bannon said his last "I love you" to his daughter Jennifer on June 16, 2022 as he held her hand. Peter was born July 2, 1945 in Brooklyn, NY to Anne Peters Bannon and Thomas Donald Bannon. He was educated at Seton Hall and Bergen Catholic in New Jersey before graduating from the University of Norte Dame. Following graduation he joined the Marine Corps and served his country honorably in Viet Nam and left as a Captain with a Navy and Marine Commendation Medal. He spent the next 30 years as a writer, reporter and news anchor in Atlanta, New York City, and Savannah. He enjoyed music, especially playing the piano and his guitars, geeky computer work, boating, and entertaining people, young and old. Peter loved best his time with his three granddaughters: Lily, Esther, and Violet. In addition to his wife, Theresa McCusker Bannon, Peter leaves behind his daughter, Jennifer, son-in-law Stephen Hines and their three daughters. Missing him will be his sisters: Marianne Maher (Dick), Eileen Finn (Kevin), Cathleen Hennessy (Paul), and Liz Bannon and their children and grandchildren. The huge Wilma and Jack McCusker family will be sharing endless interesting and humorous Peter anecdotes. Peter will join his son Sean Peter Bannon and his parents and many in-laws and outlaws in his new adventure. A private celebration of life will be held. In lieu of flowers a donation to Hospice Savannah or the charity of your choice, or listen to your favorite music, loud and late.
