Peggy J. Roempke Peggy J. Roempke was born on October 4, 1932 to Admiral Dewey and Ida Rachel (Beaver) King in Seymour, Texas where she grew up. She earned her nursing degree from General Hospital School of Nursing in Wichita Falls. She fell in love and married James Roempke on June 5, 1953 in Wichita Falls, Texas and had three children from this union; Michael, Patricia and Deborah. Peggy became a middle school registered nurse for 31 long wonderful years. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and doting grandmother. In addition to her roles within her family, Peggy was an avid bridge player, and an active member of the Mainland Church of Christ in Texas City. Peggy is survived by her son Michael Roempke and spouse Suzanne of Milano, Texas, and daughter Patricia Roempke of Katy, Texas, along with her son-in-law Alan Graefe of Pennsylvania Furnace, Pennsylvania. Grandchildren: Rachel Anderson and husband Alex of Virginia, David Graefe and wife Jamie of Pennsylvania, Beck Graefe of Florida, Michael Carlson and Carmen of Pflugerville, Texas, Lauren Carlson of Katy, Texas, and Anna Morgan and husband Reagan of Plano, Texas; great-grandchildren, Audrey, Hallie, Lillian, Nora, Leo, and Elinor. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Roempke, and her daughter, Deborah Graefe. A graveside service to celebrate Peggy's life, led by Russell McGlothlin, minister for the Midway Church of Christ, will be held at Grace Memorial Park on Friday, September 15, at 1 pm. Memorial donations may be made in Peggy's name to the Alzheimer's Association.

Catherine Gail Pierce Catherine Gail Sands Pierce, passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, she was a loving mother, grandmother and friend who spent more than 30 years with Katy ISD before her retirement. She was an avid traveler who loved the beach and mountains, but when she was home, she would share her infectious Southern hospitality (and addictive banana pudding) with those she loved. She was 73. Catherine was born on August 19, 1950, in Savannah, Georgia where she grew up and attended HV Jenkins High School. She loved bringing music records to share with her friends, something she had access to since her mother, Evelyn Irene Roberts, managed the local record shop. Catherine relocated to Texas following marriage, and raised a family in Katy, Texas. She was always patient and supportive of her children, whether they were playing youth league sports or figuring out their career paths. Following a short stint as a bus driver in Katy ISD, Catherine would spend the majority of her 30-plus year career as an attendance clerk at Mayde Creek High School. She made lifelong friends in her role at Mayde Creek and loved having weekly Tex-Mex lunches with her colleagues. She retired in 2021. When she wasn't working, Catherine loved to explore and visit her family. She loved going on Caribbean cruises with her partner and daughter and driving along the Blue Ridge Parkway with her son in the Appalachian Mountains. If she wasn't on the go, she wanted to spend as much time as possible with her grandchildren. She loved painting and coloring with them, or learning everything they knew about dinosaurs. She was quiet in nature, but with those she got to know, she was always warm and had a great sense of humor. Catherine leaves behind her two children, her son Damien Pierce and his wife Renee Chosed; her daughter was Megan Pierce; her partner John Keyes; and two beautiful grandchildren Ari Pierce and R. J. Moses, Jr. Her brother Paul Sands and his wife Deborah, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews also survive her. She had two dogs, Cooper and Bella. She was preceded in death by her mother, Evelyn Irene Roberts. A celebration of life will take place on Thursday, December 28, 2023 from 3:00 p. m. until 6:00 p. m. at Schmidt Funeral Home Grand Parkway Chapel with a reception to follow. Carol Nahoun

Carol Ann Nahoun Carol Ann Nahoun was born on November 26, 1941 in Birmingham, England. She passed away on Monday November 27, 2023, the day after her 82nd birthday. She is survived by her three daughters and their families: Sonja Evans and her husband Todd of Maryland; Erika Watson, her husband Joe and grandsons Alexander and Christopher Watson of Katy, Texas; Kristina Swearingen of Katy, Texas; and her sister Ricka Peterson and her husband Richard of North Carolina, and their family, as well as other relatives and friends. Carol is remembered as a survivor, overcoming several tragedies throughout her life. Her dad died suddenly at the age of 28, when Carol was only two years old. Her mom remarried a Dutchman after World War II and they moved to the Netherlands where she and her sister spent most of their childhood. They then all moved to Texas in 1957 when Carol was a teenager. As a child, Carol was always on the go. She used to make "pitstops" at home before running off to do the next thing. That carried over into her adulthood as she always loved adventure. She began working for Braniff airline, and used to love her time at the airport where she met her husband, and her daughters' father, Gary Swearingen. Carol had a beautifully warm and disarming smile that lit up the room. And she loved practical jokes, even while at work. Sometimes paging made-up comical names of passengers, such as Ben Dover, over the airport loudspeaker. In 1972, Carol lost her mother to lung cancer at the age of 56, when Carol was only 29. Three years later, she tragically lost her husband Gary in a plane crash when he was only 35, and she was left to raise their three small girls alone. Using the same strength and courage she had developed throughout her young life, she brought them up to be independent, always stressing the importance of their education. She loved to read and was incredibly smart - she spoke four languages and earned enough credits to graduate from high school at age 16. She instilled her love of reading in her girls, and they made frequent trips to the library. Carol remained an active senior, performing in plays and serving on committees in her community and loved her dog, Tillie. She never forgot a family member's birthday, usually sending along her signature gift, a Target gift card. She loved spending time with her two grandsons and playing games with her family. She enjoyed playing Rummikub, which was the last game she would play before she passed. She went out with a win! Carol was a survivor, with a strong faith and a raw determination that helped her overcome much in her life. But she will be remembered most for her thoughtfulness and her love for her family. Sandra Zopf

Sandra "Sandy" D. Zopf (nee Hansen), loving wife, mom, sister and friend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 25 at the age of 78. Sandy had a warm heart, a bright smile, and a comforting demeanor. She exemplified generosity, integrity and sometimes an unexpected touch of sass. Born to Lester and Mabel (nee Voelz) Hansen, she graduated from Custer High School in Milwaukee and 10 years later married James Zopf. They spent the next 50 years making a home for their four children in the Town of Jackson and building lasting traditions for the "six-pack" ranging from cross-country road trips to competitive game nights. An avid sports fan, she loyally watched the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, and Milwaukee Bucks, often following the action with her family. Sandy had a great sense of humor and enjoyed traveling, baking, and spending time with her family and longtime friends. She looked forward to family reunions and spending time in Door County, Wisconsin. While she didn’t enjoy the limelight, she felt most comfortable volunteering her time to make Washington County a better place. She could often be found Sunday mornings in the back pew at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in West Bend, Wisconsin. As a longtime active member, she shared her gifts by proudly serving on the personnel committee and church council. Sandy also served as administrative services director at the Threshold, Inc. in West Bend for 18 years, matching her life’s passion to advocate for people with physical and developmental disabilities. Sandy is survived by her children Tiffany (Mitch Maersch), Heather (Michael Cich), Meredith (Mark Halvorson), and Nathan; grandchildren Maddie and Luke Cich; sisters-in-law Barb Zangl, Arline Mundschau, and Carol Hansen; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Jim Zopf on April 15, 2023, and her brother Ken Hansen on Sept. 1, 2016. The funeral will be held at 11 a. m. , Saturday, December 9, 2023, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 1044 S. Silverbrook Drive, West Bend, WI, with Rev. Jim Hearne officiating. Harry "Harold" W. Shaw Jr. , 77, of West Bend, Wisconsin passed away on November 28, 2023. Born on December 20, 1945, in Easton, Pennsylvania, Harry was the beloved husband of Janice Shaw and the loving father of daughters Missy Shaw and Jill Shaw-Videnovic. He also enjoyed his time with his son-in-law, Strahinja Videnovic, and his granddog Rumor. Harry is also survived by his younger brother, Keith Shaw, who he was fortunate to see more frequently in recent years after Keith and his partner Mary Moore relocated to Menomonee Falls. Harry was preceded in death by his parents Harold "Jake" Shaw Sr. and Nancy Shaw. Harry was a personable individual with a unique view of the world, who loved to read history, fiction and stay up to date with current events. He had a great love for the outdoors and was always on the lookout for new plants to add to his garden. Harry was known for his generosity, his quick wit, love of debate, and his ability to make others laugh. Harry attended high school at Wayland Academy in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. While there, he met and fell in love with Janice. After dating for four years, he proposed to Janice and they were married on August 12, 1967, after which the newlyweds moved to West Bend. After holding a position at JC Penny's, Harry joined BC Ziegler, which started his successful 25-year career in the brokerage industry. While with BC Ziegler, Harry was transferred to East Lansing, Michigan in 1977 to open a branch office. In 1979, he moved his family back to West Bend. Harry later worked for Robert W. Baird and M&I Bank. In 1996, Harry, with the confidence and backing of a few trusted investors, followed his entrepreneurial spirit and opened Blue Dog Golf and Recreation with his wife Janice. This venture allowed him to showcase his creativity, attention to detail, and love of high-quality experiences, especially celebrating children's birthdays with festive parties and pizza. Outside of work, Harry was on the board of Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Washington County. Harry was a member of Holy Angels Parish for 46 years. In 1983, he was instrumental in helping to establish the Holy Angels School Trust Fund. Harry enjoyed gardening and landscape design, bird watching, playing games with his friends and family, discussing politics, and enjoying expensive cigars. He also enjoyed engaging in conversations on his favorite gun forum. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at Holy Angels Parish in West Bend, where friends and family will gather to honor and remember Harry's life. Visitation will be from 10am to 11:15am with Mass to follow. A private family inurnment will take place at Washington County Memorial Park in the afternoon. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Myalgic Encephalomyelitis and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) Society would be greatly appreciated. Harry retired early due to debilitating CFS for the last 25 years of his life. Prior to that he had led a vigorous life enjoying golfing, gardening, hunting, boating, traveling, cooking and many other activities. Alternatively, donations to Holy Angels School Technology Fund would be appreciated. Harry will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Marsha Lett Lively Marsha Lett Lively was born on August 2, 1946 in Coleman, Texas to Jessie Lee Lett and Frances Maxine McClure Lett. She was a Columbus, Texas resident for many years before moving to Katy four months ago. Marsha enjoyed quilting and sewing. She was an avid Houston Astros and Dallas Cowboys fan. Prior to her husband's death, they loved to travel to new locales and meet new people. They shared many adventures including trips to Australia and even lived in Canada for a short time. Above everything else, Marsha was a doting grandmother and cherished the time spent with her family. Marsha Lett Lively passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2023, in Katy, at the age of 77 years. Margaret "Marge" S. Weske (nee Bilicki), age 83, joined the Lord on Saturday, November 25, 2023. She was born in West Allis, WI, on October 25, 1940, the daughter of the late Frank and Martha (nee Kaczmarek) Bilicki. Marge graduated from West Allis Central Highschool. She married James W. Weske on October 8, 1960. Marge worked for Kohls Department Store and retired after 20 years of service. She then devoted herself to her husband’s care for over 30 years. Marge is survived by children, Michael (Ruth) Weske, Janet (David) Wachniak, James D. Weske, Teresa (Kenneth) Jenz; grandchildren; Andrew (Elle) Matusiak, Jessica Koth, Adam Matusiak, Timothy Avrit, Vanessa (Nick) Berres, Joshua (Cheyenne) Jenz, Megan (Zachary) Coutts, James R. M. Pamela M. Guenther (nee Scholz) Passed peacefully on November 22, 2023, at her home, with family members at her side. She was born in Milwaukee, WI, the daughter of the late Louis and Pearlinda (nee Merten) Scholz. Pamela graduated from Divine Savior Holy Angels in 1962, and later married the love of her life, Robert Guenther on April 24, 1965. She retired from West Bend Company after 30 plus years. Pamela enjoyed cooking, playing cards, knitting and most of all spending time with her family. Pamela is survived by her husband of 58 years, children Beverly Guenther, Mark (Wendy) Guenther, Brenda (Ken) Schuette, Luke (Lisa) Guenther, and Robert L. Gerald "Jerry" F. Sagadin passed peacefully on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at the age of 85. Jerry was born in Milwaukee, WI, the son of the late Frank and Mary (nee Potisk) Sagadin. He graduated from Custer High School and proudly worked on the family farm in Colgate, WI. Jerry enjoyed participating in Calf roping during State Fairs, and several hunting trips out west with his family. Jerry was an avid Packers fan, and a true history buff. Later he proudly worked at the Threshold in West Bend. Jerry is survived by his brother-in-law Robert O'Donnell; nieces Sharon (Dennis) Multerer, Sherry Gliszczinski, Mary (Larry) Gundrum; cousins Dennis (the late Marilyn) Zefran, Patricia (the late Tom) Reddy, and Gary (Bronwyn) Glojek. He is further survived by other relatives, friends, and his Hawthorn family. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, sister Marilyn O’Donnell, Stepmother Agnes, and cousin Marijo.
