Funeral services for Peggy Mackie, age 85 of Cookeville, will be at 1 p. m. Saturday September 16 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Cookeville City Cemetery. Her family will receive friends Saturday from 11 a. m. until time of services. Peggy passed away Monday September 11 at Signature Health Care in Algood. A complete obituary will post as information becomes available.

Marion "Gale" McClain, 76 of Cookeville, Tennessee passed from this life on Friday, December 8, 2023, at her home surrounded by family. Gale was born Tuesday, July 8, 1947 in Cookeville, Tennessee, and she was the daughter of the late Chester Judd and the late Clemice (Chesney) Judd. Gale was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandma, aunt, and friend. She retired from Frontier Communications in 2008 with over 40 years of service. She loved to sing, especially gospel music, and blessed many with her beautiful voice. Being a grandmother to Will was her favorite job of all. Gale was loved by all that knew her and she will be greatly missed. Gale is survived by, Daughter, Amber Mason and her husband, John; Grandson, Will Mason; Brother, Jon Judd and his wife, Sheila; Sisters-In-Law, Mary Judd, Helen Jones, Linda McClain, and Linda Rochelle and her husband, Marion; Special Caregiver, Donna Winslow; A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to her parents, Gale was preceded in death by, Husband of 41 years, Jack McClain; Sister, Joyce Judd; Brothers, Bobby, Gerald, and Don Judd; Nephews, Jeffrey, Jackie, and Gerry Judd; Brothers-in-law, Leroy Jones, Toby McClain, and Doyle McClain. Betty Sue (Ramsey) Madden, 86, of Cookeville, Tennessee passed from this life on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at her home. Betty was born Thursday, September 2, 1937, at Huff Farm in Smith County, Tennessee to the late Charlie and Alta (Cowan) Ramsey. Her family relocated to Michigan where she met her husband, Ed Madden, eventually returning to Tennessee to start their business, Suburban Tool Company. She was a passionate defender of her children and wanted the best for them and her grandchildren, spending many days babysitting through the years. She loved keeping her yard beautiful, helped by her grandson Joey in later years. She also worked hard to keep the family cemetery, Howard Cemetery of Putnam County, looking good and worked to find care for other area cemeteries. She is survived by, 3 Children, Randy Madden and his wife Donna, Rev. Michael Madden and his wife Penny, Peggy Harmann and her husband Jeff; Her grandchildren were special to her and included Joey Harmann and fiancee Jamie McElroy, Elizabeth Lisic and her husband, Alex, Randall Madden and his wife Brittany, Jessica Miller and her husband, Tyler, Tyler Madden and his wife Ashley, Zac Madden and his wife Chelsye, and Eric Madden; She was blessed with 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a special sister, Emma Jean Ramsey. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by, Husband, Byne Edgar (Ed) Madden. Russell Gene Flatt, 77, of Cookeville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at home on November 30, 2023. Born on July 10, 1946, in Cookeville, Russell was a pastor, jack of all trades and licensed electrician. At the age of 15 he surrendered his life to preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. Throughout his 60 years of ministry, he pastored churches in Tennessee, Louisiana and Kentucky. He believed in meeting people where they were and helping them in any way he could. Russell had a passion for fishing, being outdoors, and working with his hands. Russell is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Dorothy Birdwell Flatt, and their three children: Charles Flatt (Markevin), Regina Kelly (Richard), and Kathlina Alford (Lee). He is also survived by his brother, Rodney Flatt. Russell leaves behind four grandchildren: Merci Rowlett (Cameron), Charity Key (Jamey), Cole Alford, and Maggie Alford. Additionally, he has four great-grandchildren: Caiden, Owen, Oaklynn, and Lincoln. He was preceded in death by his parents, Claudia and Nancy Kathleen Flatt, as well as his siblings Eugenia Calloway, Raymond Flatt and Nancy Louise Flatt. Russell received his education from Capshaw Elementary, Cookeville High School, Belmont University and New Orleans Theological Seminary. He worshipped at University Heights Baptist Church where he was the pastor emeritus. A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at University Heights Baptist Church. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 2-3 pm, with the service beginning at 3 pm. Rev. Royce Huddleston is officiating the service. Burial will be a private family event at a later date. Russell Gene Flatt will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of faith, kindness, and dedication to helping others will continue to inspire and impact lives for generations to come.
