James Seibert
Age - 100
November 28, 2023
James Keith Seibert, beloved as "POPS", aged 100 years, of Huntington Beach, CA, passed into eternity on November 3, 2023, surrounded by his family at home. Jim was born in Defiance, Ohio to Anthony Edward and Anna Mae Seibert on September 6, 1923. After a childhood of milking cows, horse-plowing fields, and hitting gappers on the baseball diamond, Jim graduated from Defiance High School and entered the Ohio State University in 1941. His studies were interrupted by the events of December 7, 1941, "A Day That Will Live in Infamy". Jim and several of his classmates took it upon themselves to enter the Marine Corps to do nothing less than save the free world from tyranny. Mission accomplished. Pops was an integral part of the 9th Marine Division, and earned the Bronze Star for valor on the battlefield of Iwo Jima in February 1945. After VJ Day, Jim celebrated marriage to the love of his life, Nancy Belle, in December of 1950. Their marriage brought GREAT joy to many, and life to eight children. The Seibert family made the move west in 1959, and called the High Desert of Southern California home for 40 years. He was a fixture of the business community in Victorville, where he and Nancy ran Curtis Randall Stationers for three decades, as well as the church community at Holy Family Catholic Church, the school communities of Hesperia and Apple Valley, and the golf community of Hesperia CC. Pops was the life of any party, family, or social gathering he found himself in. His quick wit was unmatched, and those who knew him still quote with fond remembrance his incisive one liners that brought his greatest gift to the world--laughter. His sense of humor was truly legendary. He loved golf, politics, playing cards, good scotch, and baseball. Most of all he loved his family. He is survived by his children Mike, Tony, Tom, Steve, Beth, and Chris; grandchildren Michael, Lana, Katy, LJ, Zack, Sarah, Cia, Sean, Alexandra, Jake, Sophia, Alexander, Katarina, Therese, Anthony, Jeffrey, Sydney; and great-grandchildren Ben, Hunter, Raegan, Madison, Natalie, Aleeya, Kayden, Braydon, Jesse, Kaylynn and Chance. He is preceded in death by his bride, Nancy Belle, and son Jeffrey, and joined in death by son Daniel. Cheers to a life well-lived.
