"Paula Desmond Wallace Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Daughter Paula Desmond Wallace, 64, passed away peacefully with her loved ones by her side on September 6, 2023. Paula's whole life revolved around family. It was her greatest joy and pleasure. Paula was the wife of Scott A. Wallace for whom she was married to for 38 years and the proud and loving parents to Christine, Margaret, and Jack. Paula was born in Lowell on August 4, 1959, a daughter of Cornelius and Dorothy (Battle) Desmond. Paula attended Lowell Schools and graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell with an accounting degree. Paula was a proud member of the leadership team at Youville Assisted Living for over 10 years. Family was Paula's greatest pride and nothing brought her more happiness than spending time together at Plum Island, especially when her grandchildren, Isabel, Benjamin, and Ronan were there. Holidays celebrated with family and loved ones brought extra joy to Paula. Shopping with her mom, Dorothy, was another favorite pastime. Paula's love of family and togetherness will continue on through her children, grandchildren, and extended family each time they gather. In addition to her husband, and parents, Paula is survived by her daughter Christine Salaman and her husband Miguel of Andover, her daughter Margaret Wallace and partner Tami Pearlstein of East Boston, her son Jack Wallace and his wife, Kyleigh of Lowell, and her grandchildren Isabel and Benjamin Salaman and Ronan Wallace; her brother Cornelius Desmond and his wife Kristen Bradley of Methuen, her sister Christine Murphy and her husband Donald and their children Claire and Aiden of Windham, NH, her brother Michael Desmond and his wife Susan Landry of Londonderry , NH, and many dear friends. Family and Friends are invited to attend Paula's FUNERAL MASS at THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH , 144 E. Merrimack ST. Lowell on THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 14, 2023 at 10 AM. Following Mass, all are invited, by Paula's Family, to attend a luncheon at Four Oaks Country Club, 80 Meadow Creek DR. Dracut at Noon. "

Lydia Pabon Valentin, age 68, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Lowell General Hospital. Born in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico on March 29, 1955, she was a daughter of the late Andres Pabon and Cecilia Valentin. Lydia received her Bachelor's Degree, and held various jobs before she had settled down in Lowell. Anyone who knew Lydia had tremendous admiration for her happy, uplifting attitude and go with the flow spirit. She was always up for absolutely anything her friends or family had planned, and often would call them saying, "pick me up, where are we going". Whether she was shopping, going to lunch, or just hanging around, Lydia was her happiest when she was spending time with her loving family. She didn't care where she was, as long as she was with the ones she loved and was wearing her red lipstick and make up. Lydia was also known for her stories about Puerto Rico. She also enjoyed visiting Puerto Rico, and seeing her beloved son , grandson, daughter and family as often as she could. More than anything though, Lydia was sure to create lasting, joyful memories with all those who were lucky enough to know her. Surviving Lydia are her children, Emigdalia Perez of Aguadilla PR, and Emanuel Perez of Aguadilla, PR; her grandson, Johnson Rivera of Aguadilla, PR; her siblings, Aida Pabon of Isabella PR, Rosa Pabon of Lowell, Jack Roman of Lowell, Edilia Cruz of Daytona Beach FL, Francisca Roman of Lowell, Jacqueline Roman of Lowell, David Feliciano of Pittsgrove NJ, Jose Perez of Lowell, and Jesse Perez of Lowell; her significant other Jose Perez of Lowell; the father of her children, Manuel Perez of Aguadilla PR, as well as many other dear nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends. Lydia was the dear sister of the late Migdalia Roman, who passed in 1967 in Puerto Rico. Mary Catherine McLaughlin, 63, a lifelong resident of Lowell and beloved daughter of the late Joseph D. and Margaret A. (Geary) McLaughlin, passed away peacefully at Lowell General Hospital on November 30th. Mary was a graduate of Lowell High School and the Lowell General Hospital School of Nursing. While in nursing school, she spent summers as a park ranger for the Lowell National Historical Park, where she developed a genuine appreciation for Lowell's history. Mary began her nursing career on the Medical/Surgical ward at Lowell General before transitioning to the City of Lowell, where she worked in several public health specialties. She ultimately spent over 30 years as the senior school nurse at Lowell High School, a position she truly loved. To quote a former colleague of Mary's, "There will be many graduates of Lowell High School who will fondly remember 'Mary the Nurse. '" She was active as a union representative for the public health nurses in Lowell and played a significant role in addressing public health issues that arose at Lowell High. Mary also spent many summers as the nurse on duty for the police-sponsored D. A. R. E. Program. Mary and her wide circle of friends and family enjoyed traveling, volunteering, or simply gathering together to enjoy sporting events, the Lowell Folk Festival, or concerts at Boarding House Park. Mary is survived by her sisters Margaret (Peggy) Shepard and her husband William of Kennebunk, Maine; Carol McLaughlin Gray and her husband Peter of Venice, Florida; and her brother John McLaughlin of Quincy, Massachusetts. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews, their children and families, and her lifelong and dearest friend/sister, Elizabeth (Beth) Donaghey. Mary is pre-deceased by her brothers, James Edward McLaughlin and William Joseph McLaughlin. The family would like to extend its deepest gratitude and appreciation to the wonderful doctors, nurses, and staff at Lowell General who cared for Mary in her final days. Joseph Roland Delisle, age 97, just two weeks shy of his 98th birthday, passed away on Friday, November 24, 2023 at Parkland Medical Center in Derry, NH after a short period of declining health. For 65 years, he was the beloved husband of Rita (Boule) Delisle until her passing in 2015. Roland was born in Dracut on December 9, 1925, a son of the late Salame and Rosa (Bergeron) Delisle. He was a lifelong resident of Lowell and a U. S. Navy Veteran of WWII where he served as a radioman. Roland worked for the Ford Motor Company as a mechanic for 37 years and retired from Drum Hill Ford in Lowell. He was an avid golfer and played in many leagues in Lowell and New Hampshire. He also enjoyed bowling at the former CMAC in Lowell and was a member of the VFW in Hudson, NH. He was a bingo caller since 1962 at the former Ste. Jean Baptiste Parish and more recently at the VFW Kiwanis Hall in Hudson. He is survived by his three children and their spouses, Therese and Roland Soucy of Pelham, NH, Bob and Angela Delisle of Pensacola, FL, Michelle and Mark Silveira of Pelham, NH; his grandchildren, Anne-Marie Vawter, Laura Spaulding, Rosanne Washington, Marianne Croteau, Michael Soucy, Matthew Soucy and Cody Silveira; 15 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves many friends from the Cameo Diner and the VFW Kiwanis Hall in Hudson, NH. Our family would like to thank Dave Ouellette, Bob Fournier and especially his oldest and dearest friend, Ray Pelletier, Sr. for their support and friendship through the years. He was the brother of the late Emile Delisle, Claire Hanson, Gertrude Silveira, Rita Ferguson and Therese Delisle. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Roland's life at the M. R. Thomas Wourgiotis, 73, passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2023. A lifelong Lowell resident, also Hampton, New Hampshire, he was known to all as Tommy or Tom. The only son of the late George and Sophie (Dabilis) Wourgiotis is survived by his loving wife, Nancy J. Fagan. They recently celebrated their 40 wedding anniversary. Tom graduated from Lowell High School in 1968. He received a Bachelor's degree from Bowdoin College and an MBA from Rutgers University. He spent his initial working years in municipal and non-profit financial administration until deciding he needed a new challenge. He spent the rest of his career conducting criminal investigations of federal financial crimes as a Special Agent in the Criminal Investigation Division of the IRS. After retirement he and Nancy traveled to France, Ireland, and England and various locations in the United States. He was happiest at their condominium in Hampton. He loved all sports, particularly basketball, where he was a referee. Tom is also survived by his Aunt and Godmother Marion (Wourgiotis) Metropolis and his uncle Arthur (Regina) Dabilis, and his Godchild Patricia (Shattuck) Adams-Guthro. He leaves many close friends from childhood through his working years, and his many loving cousins. Tom and Nancy are grateful to the many dedicated doctors, nurses and staff for the care he received at Lahey Hospital in Burlington for the past five years as he battled renal cell carcinoma. Also, the staff at Lahey/Sawtelle Hospice House in Reading for their care and compassion in his final days. Donations in his memory may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Lowell. James Edward Thurlow, Jr. , 84, of Lowell, MA, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2023 at Saints Memorial Hospital in Lowell, MA after a period of declining health. Born in Haverhill, MA, he was the son of the late James Edward Thurlow, Sr. and Harriet Barbara (Emerson) Thurlow. James attended Moody Jr. High School, then graduated from Lowell High School with the class of 1957. While in high school, James was a Boy Officer and a member of the Band. After high school, James attended Lowell Technological Institute and graduated from Saunders Electronics in Boston where he pursued a degree in Electrical Engineering. James proudly served our country in the United States Air Force Reserves and was later called to duty during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was a member of Christ Church United in Lowell, MA. James was very active in his community; in his younger years, he was a member of the DeMolay International Organization. James was also a life-long member of the Ancient York Lodge A. F and A. M Freemasonry in Massachusetts where he was a Master Mason for over 35 years. James was gifted with his carpentry skills and he loved to build things. He constructed bookshelves, toy boxes, room dividers, doll houses for his family and was passionate about classic Ford automobiles. James also loved the weekly Lowell Sun Puzzles. He is survived by his sister Jane and her husband Wang Chang Choy of Voorburg, The Netherlands, his sister-in-law Rev. Dr. Judith Thurlow of Dracut, MA and his nephews Robert E.
