Frank John (Jack) Banning, Jr. Jack was born on October 12, 1935, and passed away on December 2, 2023. He was born in Umatilla, FL, a son of the late Frank and Maxine Banning. His family moved to Tavares in 1940. Jack attended Tavares Elementary School and Tavares High School. He earned nine varsity letters and was President of the Student body. He graduated from the University of Florida as an engineer in 1958. He was a member of the Sig Ma Chi Fraternity. He was in the U. S. Army Reserves for 10 years. He worked for Agrico Chemical for 15 years as a mine superintendent. He moved to Belleview in 1973. He had his own engineering company for 50 years. He was happiest at his Okahumka ranch. He had cattle for 50 years. He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 53 years, June, son, David Banning (Kellie) and daughter, Penny Banning and nieces: Robin Colbourne and Bonnie Nimmons. He was a past Deacon of the First Baptist Church of Belleview and a Sunday School teacher. The family will receive friends at the Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 5946 SE Robinson Road, Belleview, FL 34420 on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00AM. Pedro Marquez-Torres, 88, of Belleview, Florida, passed away surrounded by his loving family on November 19, 2023 at Prestige Manor in Belleview,. He was born on October 19, 1935 in Puerto Rico to Hipolito and Matilde Marquez. He served honorably in the United States Army from 1959 to 1965 and later worked as a supervisor in shipping transport. More than anything, Pedro loved his family and they loved him. Pedro is survived by his family: Mariana, his wife of 66 years; their children, Maria, Pedro and Carlos; 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Ismael, and sister, Lucila. The family will receive friends at Hiers Baxley Funeral Services, 5946 SE Robinson Road in Belleview, on Monday, November 27, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Interment with military honors will take place at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida on Tuesday, November 28, at 1:30 PM. Helen G. Lafferre, 97, of Marysville and formerly of Belleview, FL. passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at Memorial Gables. A member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, she was baptized in 1954. She supported herself with secretarial jobs but her main focus was being a Minister of the Good News of God’s Kingdom. She pioneered in Gastonia, NC for several years until her mother’s illness, and ministered again in Florida during her later years. She was a caregiver to her parents, sharing her homes with her father for over 30 years. She loved sewing and was an excellent seamstress. Born July 11, 1926 in Lewisville, she was the daughter of the late Ivan and Grace (Spence) Lafferre. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, Walter and Chauncey. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In keeping with Helen’s wishes, no calling hours or services will be held. "Terry Barnett Davies, 79, of Belleview, FL, passed away on August 15, 2023 in Gainesville, FL. Terry is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Diane "Dee" Davies, daughter Allyson Corcoran (Eric) and granddaughter Riley Corcoran, all of Gainesville, FL; brothers Gwilym Davies, Jr. and Jerry Davies, sister Dorothy Nichter (Tom), all of Harrisburg, PA; and sister, Rebecca Neff (Tom), of Gardners, PA and many other beloved nieces, nephews, family members and friends. He was predeceased by his father Gwilym D. Davies, mother Dorothy B Davies and brother Gordon D Davies. Terry was born in Lewisburg, PA, graduated from Central Dauphin High School, earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland, his Master's Degree from the University of North Texas and his Doctorate from California Southern University. He served in the United States Air Force from 1962-1966 during the Vietnam conflict. Terry was employed by Johnson Controls and Danfoss, each for more than twenty years. His employment took the family to San Antonio, TX, Harrisburg, PA, Richmond, VA, Jacksonville, FL and Ocala, FL. Terry was an Elder and member of North Lake Presbyterian Church in Lady Lake, FL. He was also a Past Master of Belleview Masonic Lodge #95 in Belleview, FL. Terry was an avid sailor, reader and traveler and a member of the Penn State and Maryland Alumni Associations. Most of all, Terry was a loving husband, father, PaPa, sibling and a kind, generous and much loved and admired friend to many. He also loved his many cats over the years. His smile, infectious laugh and warm friendship will be greatly missed by so many who were touched by his life. A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 pm on Veteran's Day, Saturday, November 11, 2023, at his daughter\u0027s house at 8318 SW 103rd Ave, Gainesville, FL. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband Patrick Terrell, Sr. , and a brother Gene Blanton. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her son Patrick Terrell, Jr. , a sister Ruth Council, three grandchildren, Kristeen Serpa, Justin Terrell, Tiffany Mizell, and seven great grandchildren, Taylor, Jade, Triniti, Charleigh, Harper, Brooke, and Chloe. Linda Lou Johnson, age 80, of Belleview, Florida passed away on September 15, 2023 at Grace Davis Hall, Ocala, Florida. She was born on April 26, 1943 in Leesburg, Florida to the late John William and Myra (Echols) Morgan. Linda was affectionately called "Lindy Lou" by her family and friends. She attended Leesburg High School and loved her country music. Linda was passionate about cooking; watching countless cooking shows and collecting cookbooks that she enjoyed. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Arnold "A. J. " Johnson. Survivors include her daughter, Lorri J. (Robert) Athey; grandson, Weston Blann; and two sister-in-laws, Deb (Tim) James and Jackie (John) Lorito. A Graveside Service is scheduled for A. Franco "Papa" Almeida 72 years old of Belleview, FL passed away surrounded by family and went to be with Jesus on September 13, 2023. Franco was born in Hackensack, NJ on April 10, 1951 to Francisco and Hada Almeida. The family moved to Belleview, FL in 1958. He attended grade school in Belleview and was a member of the graduating class of 1969 at Lake Weir High-School where he played baseball and football. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Franco was very active in the local community of Belleview, baseball and softball coaching his daughter Leah and so many other kids from T-Ball through high school. He raised his 4 children on his 35-acre farm where he also hosted the Timberline Corn Maze Festival for many years. Franco loved his children and grandchildren very much and was blessed to be "Papa" to many others through his coaching and festivals. Through his festivals he was able to help support and donate to local food banks, veterans organizations and to the literacy fund at the Marion County Juvenile Justice Center where he sat as a board member for years. He was a lover of his family, the outdoors, hunting, fishing, wine making & horticulture. He enjoyed having his dogs on the farm with him and loved his cows. He was a true Florida Gator fan no matter how the season was for them. In his career in the construction industry, he had a part in the local and county community development. His faith in Jesus was very important to him and was always willing to pray and share it with others. Franco was a good man and a well-loved man who will be missed always. Franco is survived by his daughters Leah Racheal Almeida, Sarah Esther Dennis (Husband Biff ), his sons Francisco Franco Harmon Almeida and Franco Elijah Richard Almeida. He had 5 grandchildren Elijah, Dorian, Emilia Grace, Sayler and Clayton and 1 great grandson Evan. He is also survived by his siblings Frank Jr. (Wife Kathy), Francois, Francine and Manny. Franco was preceded in death by his parents. The family will receive friends at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 5946 SE Robinson Road, Belleview, FL 34420 on Friday, September 22, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
