Paul Makarewicz Obituary

"Paul James Makarewicz of Grand Rapids, born June 28, 1963 to Maureen and Ted Makarewicz, arrived in heaven on April 20, 2023. He was preceded in death by his nephew, Joey Makarewicz Jr. this past February. Paul had three outstanding qualities: perseverance, compassion and generosity. These qualities grew stronger with each battle he fought. Paul's strength inspired medical staff and fellow patients at Lack's Cancer Center where he was given the moniker, "The Amazing Paul". Throughout his life, he had many talents, including music, photography, stained glass, gardening and bargain hunting. Paul is survived by his loving parents Ted and Maureen, brother Joe Makarewicz, sisters Mary (Charles) Bennett, Kathleen (Dennis) Wojtowicz, nieces Rachael Morford, Sarah Makarewicz, goddaughter Nicole (Jeff) Gdowski, Leah (Mike) Ebbert, Emily Wojtowicz and Hailey Jo Makarewicz, nephews Michael Makarewicz, Cameron Wojtowicz and godson Evan Wojtowicz, along with great nieces and nephews and his faithful black lab companion Tess. He will be fondly remembered by many friends, neighbors and medical staff. Please join us Friday morning, April 28 at Arsulowicz Brother's Mortuary East 937 Michigan Street NE Grand Rapids. 9:45am rosary, 10:00am-11:00am visitation, 11:00am-12:00pm Celebration of Life ceremony with a luncheon to follow. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Lack's Cancer Center or Faith Hospice. "
