Quincy, MA

Paul V. Kelly, age 95, a resident of Quincy and Marco Island, Fla. , died peacefully, Friday, October 6, 2023, in the comfort of his Quincy home, surrounded by his loving family. Paul was born in Dorchester to the late William T. and Mary E. (Dougan) Kelly. Raised and educated in Dorchester's Cedar Grove neighborhood, he was a graduate of Boston Trade School, Class of 1945. Paul and his wife, Pauline, purchased their first home in Quincy. Over the next sixty-seven years they raised their six children and along with their ever expanding family, created many memories especially around the family pool which Paul meticulously maintained. They also forged lasting friendships with their Bowes Avenue, St. Boniface and Baker Beach neighbors in Germantown. Retirement in 1990 allowed them to spend the next thirty-three winters on Marco Island, Fla. , with their beloved circle of friends at Aquarius. Paul was a proud United States Navy veteran of the Korean conflict, having served as an Interior Communications Electrician Third Class aboard the USS Bennington, CVA-20. He received the National Defense Service Medal and Navy Occupation Service Medal with European Clasp. Paul was employed as an equipment installer for the former New England Telephone Company for forty-two years. Skills he learned during his time at 'Ma Bell' along with those he picked up in the Navy and Boston Trade gave him that special knack to be able to fix just about anything. Fittingly, for many years Paul could be found putting his electrical talents to work at the annual St. Boniface carnival and the St. Boniface minstrel shows. Paul was very involved in the early years of Quincy Youth Hockey as a volunteer in numerous capacities, and contributed to the initial building fund for Quincy Youth Arena. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus on Marco Island, Fla. , and faithfully served as an usher at the 2:15 p. m. Saturday Mass at San Marco Parish. Paul was a devoted family man and loyal supporter of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren cheering them on at their many activities and celebrating with them at their numerous milestones. Beloved husband for seventy-two years of Pauline L. (Johnson) Kelly. Devoted father of Stephen M. Kelly of San Bruno, Calif. , Brenda M. Eklund and her husband William of Braintree, Thomas P. Kelly and his wife Mary of Quincy, Mark E. Kelly and his wife Theresa of Weymouth, Jeanne L. Kelly-Cyr of Quincy and her late husband Joseph, and Daniel V. Kelly and his wife Jennifer of Hopkinton. Cherished Papa to fifteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. The youngest of eight siblings, he was predeceased by Howard Kelly, Mary (Gertrude) Martin, William Kelly, Frances Clancy, Mildred Hagerty, Joseph Kelly, and Richard Kelly. Domenico Pietro worked hard his entire life up until he was diagnosed with glioblastoma, and for 11 months he didn't allow even that to slow him down. Domenico Pietro loved planting and taking care of his large garden of tomatoes and other vegetables, along with his wonderful fig tree that he would bury every year to protect it from the elements. For the holiday season, he would construct his intricate Christmas display that consisted of both outside lights, along with a Christmas Village and Nativity Set that would take up two rooms in his basement. Nancy Carroll

Nancy Carroll

Age - N/A

November 23, 2023

Nancy Ruth Carroll of Weymouth, MA, but forever a force from South Boston, moved on to eternal peace on November 19, 2023 after 82 years of defying the odds and spreading such a zest for life to those who were blessed to be in her path that she will be welcomed with open arms into the kingdom of heaven to cast her everlasting light upon us all. Nancy entered the world on July 20th, 1941 to her parents John Maurice Carroll and Mary Gertrude (nee Lynch) in South Boston, diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy at birth. With her first breath, she made the choice that no obstacle was too big to overcome. Not only did she celebrate more days on this earth than any of her immediate family of six, she spread more love, compassion, wisdom, and a spirit to persevere than most of us only dream of. Most importantly, she never doubted herself, and thank God for that, because her spirit knew no bounds and her kindness found no foes. A woman of strong faith, Nancy thought nothing of walking unaccompanied for miles on end to commute to work, attend Mass, or complete a grocery run. She was an avid patron of the Hingham Commuter Boat in its early days where she developed lifetime friendships, while working at a Boston Workshop sponsored by the Commonwealth before retiring at 65. In addition to her undying optimism, Nancy will be forever remembered for her keen wit and passion for her Irish Heritage; rides on the Swanboats; Lunches at Jacob Wirth's; St. Patrick's Day Parades; Annual monogrammed cloth calendars; and never forgetting a Wedding Anniversary with a heartfelt handwritten greeting card. Nancy had a contagious laugh to match her sharp sense of humor, and no party began before Aunt Nancy arrived! Survivors include her many beloved nieces and nephews and their extended families around the country. Nancy was predeceased by her two sisters, Claire and Mary Anne, and her brother John, as well as her loving furry companions, MacGregor and Shawno. Visitation on Tuesday from 9:30-10:15 in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital) followed by a service at 10:15 AM in the funeral home. Burial will take place at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Roslindale. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice. Show more
