Paul Michael Boyd, age 70, of Newton, North Carolina, went home to be with Jesus, his Messiah, on September 7, 2023. He was born in Memphis, Tennessee on December 19, 1952 and grew up in Jackson, Mississippi and Greenville, South Carolina, the grandson and son of faithful Christian pastors, Jesse Laney Boyd (1881-1967) and Jesse Laney Boyd, Jr. (1916-1991). After many years as a dutiful accountant, successful business owner, and faithful church member in Catawba County, North Carolina, consistently serving and esteeming others before himself, he spent his last seventeen years faithfully shepherding the flock of New Testament Christian Fellowship in Claremont, North Carolina. He was a devoted husband, a beloved father, a committed pastor, a caretaker of the fatherless and widows, and a true servant of the Lord Jesus Christ. His final message, preached four days before his death, exhorted his flock to press on and believe God. For, "there remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God" (Hebrews 4:9). Paul Boyd was preceded in death by his elderly mother, Edith Long Boyd (1917-2003), who loved him very much and to whom he ministered greatly during the long years of her widowhood. He is survived by his wife of forty-eight years, Theresa Green Boyd; his beloved mother-in-law who counted him as one of her own sons, Marjorie Craft Green; his two sons, Jesse Michael Boyd and Matthew Paul Boyd; two daughters-in-law he esteemed as his own flesh and blood, Jamie Crafton Boyd and Kelly Graham Boyd; a daughter and son-in-law, Anna and Jeremy Wallace; thirteen grandchildren; and James Hoefer, a friend of sixty-five years who stuck closer to him than a brother. He is also survived by many around the world who accounted him a solid rock and support in troubled times. A memorial celebration will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at CORINTH BAPTIST CHURCH in Vale, North Carolina (7929 W NC 10 Hwy), the same church where Paul Boyd joyfully officiated and preached his oldest granddaughter's wedding just one month ago. The family will gladly receive friends and loved ones in the sanctuary from 1:00-2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Full Proof Gospel Ministries in Paul Boyd's honor ( fpgm. org/donate ).

She did life her way. The sun doesn't shine as brightly without Julia Annice Chandler, 34, of Hickory, who was taken from us suddenly in a tragic accident on November 16, 2023. Born on December 7, 1988, Julia was described by beloved friends as beautiful, authentic, goofy and the sweet smiling face of unconditional love. She was a best friend to nearly everyone who loved her. She joins her beloved companion dog, Rocco, who crossed the rainbow bridge late this past September. With her unconventional approach to life, Julia cared for and connected with others in an exceptional way. Among her many creative tattoos were both a Jedi lightsaber and Voldemort's wand, embracing both the light and dark elements of her personality and the human experience. Her generosity of spirit extended to a love for all living things, and throughout her life she volunteered at many animal rescue organizations, most recently Carolina Waterfowl Rescue. With a smile that filled a room, Julia was appreciated for her witty, intellectual humor and her incredible artistic talent as a painter. Julia's family Christmas shirt (made by herself) said, "Santa Believes in Me. " Her family, friends, fans and four-legged companions believe in her, too. She is survived by her loving parents, Deidra and James Chandler, her sister, Cathryn Chandler, sister-in-law, Elizabeth Chandler, her adoring and beloved niece and nephew, Ruthie and Jack Chandler, her closest friends Rachael and Josh Eerenberg, as well as loving aunts and uncles Grayson and Jennie Beane of Lenoir, Bud and Jane Clark of Gerton NC, and Jim and Becky Spinks of Harrisburg, NC, and many cousins and a legion of chosen family and friends.
