Denise Phyllis Rummelhart, age 64, of Ottumwa, passed away Thursday, February 29, 2024 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.Denise was born on October 30, 1959 in Elmhurst, Illinois, the daughter of Philip and Barbara (Becker) Laux. She graduated from Centerville High School with the Class of 1977. On May 9, 1987, Denise was united in marriage to David Joseph Rummelhart.Denise worked in the manufacturing field for most of her adult life. In her free time, she enjoyed sitting outside watching the birds, camping, gardening, attending auctions and garage sales and she loved to fish. One of her favorite things in life was joking around and laughing.Left to cherish Denise’s memory are her husband, David Rummelhart; her children, Shawn (Laura) Berry, Nicole Rummelhart, and Roy Rummelhart; two grandchildren; three great grandchildren; her siblings, Richard (Mary) Laux, Dan (Penny) Laux, and Judy (Kim) Minard; as well as several extended family members and friends.Denise was preceded in death by her parents, Phillip and Barbara Laux; her son, Philip Berry; her daughter, Shana Berry; and her brother, Michael Laux.Funeral services for Denise will be held at 10:00AM, Friday, March 8, 2024 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville with Fr. Timothy Armbruster, C.P.P.S. officiating. Burial will follow at Exline Cemetery in Exline. She married Merrill D. “Skip” Gray on January 21, 1962.A graduate of Ottumwa High School, Ardythe had worked at North Hy Vee in the kitchen and at Edd the Florist.She was a member of Ottumwa Baptist Temple. Ardythe enjoyed raising her children, sewing, gardening and her flower beds.Surviving is her husband, Skip; their children, Frances (Anthony) Nicholson of Ladysmith, WI, Bill (Chris) Gray of Lone Tree, CO and Thadd (Trish) Gray of Milton; 8 grandchildren, T.J. Randy Van Dalen, 70 died Monday, February 26, 2024 at the Good Samaritan Society in Ottumwa, Iowa. A Memorial/Visitation will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in What Cheer. Burial will be held privately in the Tioga Cemetery near Rose Hill. Memorials may be directed to the family. Randy Lee Van Dalen was born on September 18, 1953 in Oskaloosa, Iowa to Bob and Shirley Rockwell Van Dalen. Randy attended school in Oskaloosa and graduated in 1971. He then lived in Ft. Worth, Texas for the majority of his life as a truck driver. He was the father of three children, Channa, Shandy and Shad. Randy moved back to Iowa in 2000 to care for his mother and be closer to his family. Randy was onery, loved to pick on people, respected his parents, and most of all loved his children and grandchildren. Like every man, Randy made mistakes in life he later regretted. What set his apart was the fact he learned lessons from those mistakes and shamelessly helped other in his life not to make those same mistakes. Randy preferred not to lay his burdens on others. He took pride in his appearance and never shied away from helping those in need. He really enjoyed watching the Chicago Bears, loved ACDC music and had fun collecting dragons, knives, whips and swords. Randy was very devoted to his best friend and companion, his dog Taz. The family would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff at the Good Samaritan Society. They have loved and cared for him the last few years even though he was Mr. Sassy Pants. We really appreciate the love and care he received there. Randy is preceded in death by his parents; a niece, Olivia Van Dalen; his sister-in-law, Lori Van Dalen; and his best friend, Taz. Randy is survived by his children, Channa (Gary) Daniels, Shandy (KC) Crook, and Shad (Hajar) William; his grandchildren, Waiverly (Scott) Sesterhenn, Randy (Alicen) Daniels, Kaylee (Traton) Daniels, Dalton Daniels, Serenity McDonald and Aven Crook; two great grandchildren, Stefan and Maxime Sesterhenn; his brothers, Terry Van Dalen and Bobby Van Dalen; his sisters, Vicki (Dean) Tomlin and Connie Van Dalen; as well as many other friends and relatives.

He married Kathy Sue Hazelwood MacQueen April 14, 2012 and she preceded him in death July 13, 2014.A graduate of Ottumwa High School, Lee earned a degree from Indian Hills Community College in machine technology. He worked for John Deere Ottumwa Works for 27 years and was a Master Machinist.Lee owned Lukehart’s Landing. He enjoyed riding side-by-sides and 4-wheelers, boating, shooting and disc golf. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his friends.Surviving is his son, Westley Larson (fiancé, Katelyn Replogle) of Ottumwa; good friends, Bruce Severson and Kevin McIntosh.He was preceded in death by his parents and step-father, Charles Wilt.His body has been cremated.Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Friday, March 8th at Reece Funeral Home. The family will be present to greet friends one hour prior to the service.

He married Mary Ann Cosgrove on March 13 1977.A graduate of Bloomfield High School, Terry had worked for 17 years for Burlington Northern Railroad and for 12 years at Excel. He did many odd jobs from roofing to fixing someone’s house or vehicle.Terry enjoyed riding his motorcycle and hunting.Surviving are his children, John (Sara) Turner, Lewis Turner and Jaime White, all of Ottumwa; 10 grandchildren, Brandon Aldridge, Brittany Aldridge, Dekota Aldridge, Samanatha Turner, Jonathon Turner, McKenzie Turner, Shaylyn White, Terry M. White, Taytum McGraw and Nevaeh White; 2 great-grandchildren, T.J. Aldridge and Weston Barlow; and his sister, Sheryl (Jim) McClain of Cantril.He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Kellie Cosgrove.His body has been cremated and services are not planned.

Marjorie Lucille O’Dell, 84, of Ottumwa, died at 7:50 p.m. February 26, 2024 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.She was born October 1, 1939 in Wapello County to Glen and Bernadena Sutton Renfrew. She married her high school sweetheart, William “Bill” Michael O’Dell August 8, 1958 and were married for 52 years before his passing on September 17, 2010.Marjorie attended Copperhead School through 8th grade (walking up hill both ways each day) and graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1957. She was secretary for Ottumwa Schools for 8 years, order typist at Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. for 3 years, secretary/treasurer for Wapello Chief Bowmen Club for 14 years, secretary for Mid-American and Central Fantail Clubs for 15 years and worked at O’Hara Hardware in the housewares department for 12 years. Marjorie also made custom draperies and clothing alterations for over 60 years. She was a proud member of the Red Hat Society, Bunco and Women’s Club and AARP.Surviving are her sons, Steven O’Dell (Lori Farrier) of Preston, MO, Gary O’Dell of Hudson, CO, Glen (Jodi) O’Dell of Ottumwa; her daughters, Lori (Dennis) Jones of Grove, OK and Aschere Hime of Ottumwa; 13 grandchildren, Corey (Courtney) O’Dell, Kylie (Ken) Hall, James and Joshua O’Dell, Amanda (Rasoul) Daoud, Abigail O’Dell, Justin Pfaff, Jessica (Chad) Covert, Josie O’Dell (Jarrett Mattly), Linna (Dave) Matthews, Ryan O’Dell, Talon and Taryn Hime; 22 great grandchildren, Luxy, Megan, Nicole, Piper, Caleb, Cayden, Jordyn, Ally, Remington, Thea, Desmond, Jeffrery, Bo, Rylee, Trae, Addy, Greyson, Lincoln, Ainsley, Kooper, Brantley and Bryer.She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; parents; grandson, Jeffrey James O’Dell; sister and brother-in-law, Mildred and Jim Hopkins; and brother-in-law, John Anderson.Visitation will be open 10 a.m. Friday, March, 1st at Reece Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday.Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, March 2nd at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Ed Matthews officiating. "Michael James Vitko, age 58, of Ottumwa unexpectedly passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2024. Michael was born May 11, 1965 in Albia, Iowa to James John and Ruth Ann (Hayes) Vitko. Michael graduated from Highland High School in Hardy, Arkansas in 1983. He continued his education at Indian Hills Community College where he received an associate’s degree. After college Michael worked as a medical transcriptionist at Monroe County Hospital in Albia. During his lifetime Michael served in several hospitality roles as a bartender, waiter and host at several resorts throughout the United States. Most recently Michael worked at the Snowshoe Ski Resort in West Virginia. In his free time Michael enjoyed hiking, gardening and cooking. He was a music enthusiast and enjoyed listening to all types of music, especially Barbara Streisand. Michael enjoyed volunteering at the Food Bank of Iowa in Ottumwa and attended church at St. Mary of the Visitation. He is survived by his mother, Ruth Ann Vitko of Ottumwa, two sisters, Barbara (Jeff) Ackles of Friendswood, TX, Teresa (Juan) Barajas of Garland, TX and one brother, John (Deborah) Vitko of Ottumwa, IA. Also surviving Michael are an aunt Helen (Ronald) Allen of Syracuse, NE and many cousins, nieces, nephews and lifelong friends. Michael is preceded in death by his father James Vitko. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Michael’s family present to greet family and friends. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia. Burial will follow services at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Albia. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in his name and sent to his family c/o John Vitko, 3326 Lake Road, Ottumwa, IA 52501."

She attended American Institute of Business, Indian Hills Community College, Buena Vista College and William Penn University.She had been a member of Willard Street United Methodist Church since the 1950’s where she was actively involved in their crafting ministries, knitting prayer shawls and selling greeting cards for missions.Patricia had worked at Sorden Music in Ottumwa.Surviving is her daughter, Laura (Danny) Carrell of Ottumwa and her sister, Karen (David) Lull of Claremont, CA.She was preceded in death by her parents.Per Patricia’s wishes, her body has been donated to the University of Iowa Department of Anatomy.No services are planned at this time.Reece Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
