Clifford Wickham

Age - 85

November 15, 2023

Clifford James Wickham, 85, of Washington Utah returned to his Heavenly Father on November 10, 2023, at home surrounded by family after a brave battle with stomach cancer. He was born in Longmont Colorado, to Leo and Geneva (Jimmi) Wickham on April 14, 1938. He grew up in Sterling Colorado with his only sister Judy, where he spent his days playing and climbing around the buildings at the county fairgrounds. His days were spent from sun up to sun down outside, amongst friends as they played "stagecoach" atop an old rabbit hutch, catching pigeons, playing cowboys, and swimming in the South Platte River. He moved to Evanston Wyoming in 1951 where he continued to love the outdoors as he was free to roam, fish, and hunt. He especially loved elk hunting with his dad and would stay in the mountains each year for at least a week. Upon turning 17, Cliff joined the United States Navy. During one of his leaves, Clifford married his sweetheart Elda Putnam on December 14, 1956. While aboard the USS Weiss in 1957, Cliff received an announcement over the loudspeaker informing him of the birth of his first daughter Tamara Jean. Then in 1958, he was able to get shore duty in California where Teresa Kay joined the family. Cliff got out of the service in 1959 and was hired by AT&T as a lineman and began working throughout many of the states west of the Mississippi. During this tour, in 1961, their 3rd daughter Barabara Ann was born. He began working for different construction companies on the interstate highway system. While working in Rock Springs they realized their trailer was too small so they bought their first home in Green River Wyoming. It was just shortly after their youngest daughter Donna Renee joined the family. Cliff then settled his family in Lyman Wyoming in 1969 where he worked for the city, served on the Town Council, and worked underground at Allied Chemical. Clifford was a man of many talents. He was a very knowledgeable man full of passion and devotion to creating and working with his hands. He loved to build things and spent a lot of time building homes, windmills, cars, signs, and countless treasures that he would find in the junkyard and repurpose. He spent his life working in construction and he was proud to be able to tell people he was part of installing AT&T phone lines spanning over 28 locations. After many technological advancements and years of perfecting his trade, he was then part of traveling and installing underground fiber optics internet lines. Later in life, he bought and developed Fort Bridger RV park where he spent countless years beautifying the grounds, making new friends, and restoring old windmills. He then spent his retirement years tinkering and building in his beloved shop. He loved to rebuild cars and participate in car shows. He loved to show off all his creations and knowledge to his family members and friends who would stop in and spend time with him, marveling at his works and talents. Clifford joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on December 23, 1988. He was later sealed for time and eternity to his wife Elda on December 28, 1989. At the age of 51, Cliff and Elda were called on a special mission. They both quit their jobs and joyfully served a 2-year mission in Barcelona Spain, returning from their calling in October of 1993. He had a deep love for his Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. He had a strong testimony of the gospel and served many through his words, actions, and examples. His favorite calling was to serve as a primary teacher. He was a devoted father and grandfather who loved his family dearly. Everyone felt the love he had for every one of them. He had a way of making you feel loved, seen, and special. His radiant smile was contagious and his laugh reverberated deep within all that he shared it with. Cliff was an amazing storyteller and loved to share his adventures with anyone who would listen. He captivated his audiences with stories of fossil digging, hunting, camping, and deep family traditions and adventures. He will be forever remembered for the precious time he spent with each of his grandchildren during their famous Grandma/Grandpa Days. Cliff is survived by his loving wife, Elda Mae Putnam; children: Tami (Tom) Redmon of Lyman WY, Teresa (Gary) Hutchinson of Lyman WY, son-in-law Rick Carroll of Green River WY, and Donna Porras (Donald Stockon) of Snowflake AZ; grandchildren: Travis, Tracy, Tiffany, Tina, Tim, Todd, Tony, Taylor, Cody, Spencer, Daniel, Kimberly, Haley, Amber, Alicia, Nathan, Ashlee, Jordan, Alexandria, and Alyssa; 62 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson; a niece Carla and nephew Paul; 7 sisters-in-law and 1 brother-in-law, as well as many beloved extended family and dear friends. Katherine Massey

Katherine Massey

Age - 70

September 8, 2023

Washington, Utah - Katherine Sue Goodell Massey passed away September 5, 2023, at home with her family surrounding her. Kathy was born January 28, 1953, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Joseph Charles and Florence Jean Phinney Goodell. She grew up on the family wheat farm playing and working. She climbed the big tree, played hotel with her brother Tom, and was the best chicken plucker in the family. She attended school at a small country school 1 mile from home from kindergarten to 8th grade, then Morrill High school and graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1971. She then attended Ricks College for 2 years and graduated from BYU with a BS degree in education. She enjoyed college life and practiced dating with several guys until Markel was old enough to go to college. They fell in love and were married in the Manti Temple in 1978. Married life began with picking out a place on a map and landing in Spokane, Washington where Kali and David were born. They lived there for 4 years, then moved to Vernal, Utah. Those first few years she lived very frugally as finances were very tight, but the Lord always blessed them to have just enough. Natali, Micah, and Ambria were born while living in Vernal and she was a very busy mother. When asked if she worked, her answer was always "Yes, but not for money!"In 1989, they moved to Las Vegas where Britt was born. In whatever city she lived, friends were plentiful as everyone loved her and felt loved by her. Kathy enjoyed roughing it when camping and cooking over a campfire instead of a cook stove. She was a great cook, but always worried about her meals when cooking for others. The two things she was passionate about most were family history and emergency preparedness. Kathy loved doing family history and helping others with it. She was also very prepared for any possible emergency. Food storage, camping supplies, 72-hour kits and dehydrated water packets filled every closet and were stuffed under every bed. She could tell you how many pounds of each food staple a person needed to survive for a year. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was willing to serve in any way. Kathy and Markel traveled some after retiring and were grateful to have served as Facility Maintenance missionaries in Nauvoo for 18 months. They took care of the historic pioneer era homes and all the antique artifacts in them. She loves her six children and six children-in-law and 23 grandchildren and made sure to have a family reunion every year with all of them. She is a comforter, defender, advocate and was always there when her children needed her. Her family can say, like Helaman said in describing his stripling warriors, "We do not not doubt our mothers knew it. " Her parting words to her family were, "Stay true to the gospel because the Lord will never let you down. "Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Liz, and her brother Joe. She is survived by her husband, Markel; children: Kali (Mike) Evans, David (Maria) Massey, Natali (Kevin) McKee, Micah (Emily) Massey, Ambria (Carson) Graff, Britt (Olivia) Massey; sister, Mary Ann Jenkins; and brothers: Gene Coleman and Tom Goodell. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 15, 2023, at 1:00 p. m. at the Washington Fields 5th Ward Chapel, 1867 South Washington Fields Road, Washington, Utah 84780. August 26, 2023

Samuel Day Terry, age 75, from Washington, Utah passed peacefully on August 14, 2023, at home with his beloved wife Judy (Stallings) Terry and his kids were at his side. He was born on a snowy day, on December 8, 1947 in Murray, Utah to Harvey and Maxine Terry. He was the oldest of four siblings, Sherie, Karen, and Allen. Sam was a hard-working, loving husband, father and grandpa! He grew up on a farm in Rupert, Idaho where he milked 50 cows before and after school. He loved working on the farm and doing all the chores. When he was a sophomore at Minico High School and being the class president, it was hard to move to Southern California that spring. He loved playing football and tennis in high school. He graduated from Fontana High School in 1966. He served a mission in the British South Mission from 1967-1969. He had some great experiences serving as a missionary and especially serving as an assistant to the Mission President. Sam and Judy were married in the Idaho Falls Temple in 1971. They met at their friend's wedding reception back in Rupert, Idaho where they both grew up. He was best man and Judy was a bridesmaid. It was "love at first sight". They have been married for 52 years. They have 7 beautiful children: Stephanie (Paul) Mendenhall, St. George, Utah; Michelle (Warren) Church, St. George, Utah; Dave (Gretchen) Terry, Santa Clara, Utah: Ryan (Jessica) Terry, Mountain Green, Utah: Steve (Tiffany) Terry, Washington, Utah: Marsha (Russ) Gifford, Washington, Utah; Jenny (Brett) Gifford, Washington, Utah; 30 grandchildren, and 2 great-granddaughters this fall. Sam loved his kids so much. He would do anything for them. When they were in high school, he would go the extra mile and sometimes wash their car or fill it up with gas. Sam was the maintenance manager at Skywest over both buildings. He would put the kids to work to earn extra money. He loved all his grandkids and enjoyed watching them in their different sports. He also liked to tease them; loved being a grandpa. Sam and Judy were able to serve a mission together in Newfoundland, Canada in 2007 where Sam served as Branch President. It was a great experience out serving the Lord. Now, we love hearing from our missionary grandkids who have served and some are now serving all over the world from Tahiti, Montana, North Carolina, Seattle, England, New Zealand, Ecuador and the Marshall Islands. "No greater joy than seeing your children walk in truth". Sam loved the gospel! He had a great testimony of our loving Savior, Jesus Christ. He had many church callings, he always loved teaching the Gospel Doctrine, served as Executive Secretaries, High Councilman, Stake Sunday School Presidency, Missionary Leader and Branch President. He was a shining example to everyone! The loss of a sweetheart, our dad and grandpa is heart breaking. He will be greatly missed, by his family and friends. He was the life of the party.
