Of North Braddock, a native of West Mifflin, age 89, died on Tuesday, February 20, 2024. John was the beloved husband of Eileen M. (Early) Gregory for 67 years. He was preceded in death by his parents Ellsworth and Mercedes (Werner) Gregory and his siblings, Thomas O. Gregory, David L. Gregory and Donna Stemnock. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law, Ronald Homce of FL and John D. (Linda) Early of Monroeville, along with many nieces and nephews. John was a Korean War Army veteran and for over 40 years, he was the owner and operator of Albrecht’s Beer Distributor in West Mifflin. In retirement, John loved to spend time working at his favorite hobby which was woodworking. There will not be a public visitation or service. John will be laid to rest in Braddock Catholic Cemetery. Bo Belinsky

Of North Braddock, age 69, died at home in the care of his family on Saturday, February 17, 2024. Bo was the beloved husband of Anna (Mariani) Belinsky for 48 years. He was the loving father of Lea (Greg) Brown of MD and Philip Belinsky of North Braddock. Bo was the proud grandfather of Kalvin, Chloe and Christopher. He is also survived by is brother, Frank (late Jean) Belinsky of Ca, Kathy (Gary) Nese of Forest Hills and Betty Ann (Tom) Martello of East McKeesport. Bo was a 1972 graduate of General Braddock High School and attended Duff’s Business Institute. In 1974, Bo became the first hired employee of Filtech Corp. and has been employed with Filtech ever since, most recently serving as the Vice-President of Engineering. He was a self-taught guitar player and found great joy and peace strumming his six-string guitar with classic rock tunes. Bo also loved to work in his vegetable garden as he raised, among others, onions, peppers, beans and delicious tomatoes. Friends are welcome on Tuesday from 2-7pm at Patrick T. Bernie Hackett, Jr.

A lifelong resident of North Braddock, age 72, died on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at his home with his family present. Beloved husband of Theresa (Choma) Hackett, Jr. for 52 years. Loving father of Jennifer (Scott) Burkhart, Shaun (Stacey) Hackett and the late Erin Hackett. Bernie was the treasured grandfather of Ashley, Madison and Vincent Hackett and great-grandfather of Ashtin and DeJohn Hackett. He was preceded in death by his brother, Denis Hackett and his sisters, Lorraine (late George) Mayger and Eileen Fulmer. Bernie is also survived by cousins, nieces and nephews. Bernie was a 1969 graduate of North Braddock Scott High School. He began his career as a machinist for Mesta Machine and retired from its successor business, Whemco in West Homestead. Bernie was a staunch Pitt Panther fan but saved his most significant rooting for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Bernie was a well-known volunteer for the Braddock-North Braddock Little league where he coached for 18 years and helped his kids to multiple championships. Friends are welcome to wear any Steeler attire when visiting on Monday from 1-6pm at Patrick T. Pauline Korotko

Of North Braddock, age 78, died on Wednesday, February 7, 2024. Pauline was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Korotko for 52 years. She was the treasured mother of Joseph J. (Jennifer) Korotko of North Versailles and Steven (Carolyn) Korotko of Trafford. Pauline was the treasured grandmother of T.J., Danielle, Haley, Zachary, Jospeh C., Ashley Korotko and the late Katelyn Korotko. Pauline is also survived by her brother, Albert Mitnik of Monroeville and her sister, Mary (Jim) Sljva of North Braddock. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Andrew (late Millie) Mitnik, George (surviving spouse Inga) Mitnik, Anna Mitnik, Michael Mitnik, Robert (late Barbara) Mitnik and her infant siblings, Florence and Albert Mitnik. Pauline is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Pauline was a retired employee with 27 years of service in the Medical Records Department of the former Braddock Hospital. When her boys were growing up, she volunteered with the Braddock-North Braddock Little League where she was known as the “Icy Ball Lady” for preparing, making and selling snow cones during the home games. Pauline also volunteered with the Cub Scouts as a den mother, often having meetings in her home. For many years, she served her parish of Good Shepherd in Braddock as a Eucharistic Minister. Pauline also volunteered as a member the Ladies Auxiliary of the North Braddock Volunteer Fire Department. Her favorite pastime was visiting the casino, especially when aboard the Good Shepherd bus. Friends are welcome on Saturday from 2-8pm and Sunday from 1-4 pm at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 700 Linden Avenue at Cable Avenue, East Pittsburgh (412-824-8800). A lifelong resident of North Braddock and a 1960 graduate of North Braddock Scott High, passed away Friday, January 26, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of the late Michael and Jean Dzura and is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, Ralph Girman. She is also survived by her beautiful daughters Cheryl (Brian) Zagorac of Penn Township and Christine (James) Hinel of Florida; brothers Michael “Mickey” (Arlene) Dzura, Jerry (late Christel) Simpson, and Jack (late Roseann) Simpson. Vera was the loving and beloved grandmother of Alyssa (Kyle) Southerlin; Brian (Kristen) Zagorac Jr; Austin (Christie) Zagorac; Erica (Eric) Green; and James (Nicole) Hinel Jr. She will be greatly missed by her treasured great-grandchildren, Grace, Isla, and Weston and was greatly anticipating the arrival of her fourth great-grandchild. Vera worked as a teller at Mellon/Citizens Bank at the Forest Hills and Pitcairn branches and also as a caterer throughout most of her adult life. Her most prominent role was as Matriarch of the family, happiest at family gatherings where she provided the most delicious kolaczki and nut roll. Vera lived a wonderful life, adored by her family. Her smile was beautiful and contagious, her love for her family limitless. She will be greatly missed but forever remembered by the many who loved her. Friends and family will be received on Tuesday from 2:00 to 8:00p.m. at Patrick T. Loving father of Ronald Corbett of North Braddock, Todd (Desiree) Corbett of North Versailles and Scott Corbett of North Versailles. Dear grandfather of Kayla, Ryan, Aiden, Conner and Eric Corbett. Great-grandfather of Brady and Karter. Brother of Donald (Dianna) Corbett of North Braddock and Joanne (Edward) Comer. Ron was preceded in death by his siblings, William (late Sue) Corbett, Patricia (late Ted) Coppola, Robert (surviving spouse, Lana) Corbett, John (surviving spouse, Andrea) Corbett, James (surviving spouse, Laura), Linda (surviving spouse, Michael) and Richard Corbett who died as a child. Ron is also survived by nieces and nephews. Ron was a 1965 graduate of North Braddock Scott High School. He was a career steel worker with U.S. Steel with 45 years of service combined at the Edgar Thomson plant and Irving Works. Ron was a lifetime member of the North Braddock Volunteer Fire Department, and for a few years, he served North Braddock as a part-time police officer. Ron was an outdoor enthusiast who enjoyed hunting small game and deer, as well as fishing lakes and streams and wherever there was water. He also was a staunch, diehard Pittsburgh Steeler fan. Lifelong resident of North Braddock, age 69, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 30, 2023. Born the son of the late Frank J. Novak and the late Marjorie (Matrosic) Novak. Beloved husband of Deborah A. (Ferguson) Novak for 44 years. Loving father of Francis (Samuel Encarnacion) Novak of New York City and Catherine (Joshua) Takah of Scott Twp. Preceded in death by his siblings; James (surviving spouse, Barbara “Cookie) Novak and Dianne (late John) Yackovich. Dear uncle of Barbara (Robert) Chismar, JoAnn (James) McVeigh, Jean (James) Matrazzo, Dana (Mike) Kramer, and the late Anthony DiVencenzo. Great uncle of Adam, Alexandria, Kyle, Brock, and Jane. Chuck was a 1974 graduate of General Braddock High School. In his early years, Chuck worked for the Lanigan Funeral Home as a part time attendant and maintenance worker. He was employed with U.S. Steel Edgar Thompson Works in Braddock for over 44 years before retiring in 2016. Chuck was proud to have been a lifelong resident of North Braddock, and was also honored to dedicate a lifetime of service to his community through his involvement with the North Braddock Volunteer Fire Department. He held various leadership positions within the department, most notably Chief of Department. Chuck was known to assist with the annual street fairs and with the preparation of the haluski for the Lenten fish fry. He also received certification to work for the local HAZMAT team. Chuck was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Chuck treasured the memories he made spending time fishing in Pymatuning and visiting the Farma Campground in Greenville, PA. Being at camp always made him feel a sense of peace and relaxation. Chuck was a man of few words, but when he spoke with his unique sense of humor, he was quick to draw a laugh or smile from anyone close to him. He will be sorely missed. Life-long resident of North Braddock, age 80, died on Wednesday, December 20, 2023. Bernie was the beloved husband of his high school sweetheart, Andrea (Evans) Tomasic for 56 years. He was the precious father of Ramona (Ty) Shaffer of Monroeville, Eric (Melissa) Tomasic of Glenmoore and Nicole (Scott) Reininger of Johnstown. Bernie was the treasured grandfather of Tyler and Taylor Shaffer; Luka and Georgia Tomasic; and Emily, Remi, Penelope and Fiona Reininger. Bernie is survived by his brothers, Bill (Mary Ann) Tomasic of Forest Hills and Francis Tomasic of Churchill, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his mother Elizabeth and father George, his brothers, George Tomasic, Larry (surviving spouse, Helen) Tomasic, Robert (surviving spouse Diane) and James Tomasic. Bernie was a 1961 graduate of St. Thomas High School where he was a star basketball player winning various awards for his prowess. He earned a basketball scholarship to St. Vincent College playing 4 years for the Bearcats. He went onto pursue a career in at the Allegheny County Juvenile Family Division where he worked for 36 years retiring as Supervisor. He continued his education earning a master's degree in psychology at Duquesne University. In the 1970's and 80's, Bernie served his community as a School Director of the former General Braddock School District. As a parent, he was actively involved with the Rankin Junior Tamburitzans Parent Organization. Bernie was a member of the Ladies Pennsylvania Catholic Slovak Union, Croatian Fraternal Union and the Rankin Croatian Home. Friends are welcome on Tuesday, December 26, from 3-7pm at Patrick T.
