Li pat mizisyen men li te adore mizik. Claude was born on August 29 1940 in Chancerelle to PauloneNarcisse and Eugene Sabin. He loved music and could describe the layout of port-au-princemetropolitan area via the different musical groups. He was a big fan of Jazz des Jeunes and Webert Sicot and Guy Durosier (Guy was his neighbor when he lived on Rue Montalais in Port-au-Prince. His favorite singer of all time is Charles Azanavour. This did not stop him from loving and appreciating other musicians such as Michel Delpeche, Jean Ferat, Nat King Cole, Tino Rossi, Mireille Mathieu, Les Shleu, Shleu, Gary French, Vicente Fernandez to only name those. He also had a very deep love of Mexican music (rancheras) and Cuban music. Claude Emmigrated to Miami in the late 1970's where herealized his dream of owning and operating a music store. One thing about Claude he was his own man, never really have any attachment to things outside of music and Haiti (leftist leaning). He liked to joke around and visited friends and family. One could say that he was a rebel and lived his life for him despite having love for others. He expended his knowledge through reading and listening to radio. He held a large collection of Haiti Progres and other news publications where he kept current with the news of Haiti while he lived in Miami and New York as a form of resistance. Exile did not only come in the form of direct expulsion from the government or those in power but in the totality of country's developing condition at that time. You could sometimes equate him with a philosopher with his own controversies. In many ways he was like Normand Malavyin Emile Olivier's novel Passage only that Robert did not get to see Haiti again and Claude did.Show more

Eric Delva

Eric Delva

Age - 75

December 1, 2023

Eric Delva was born on November 14th, 1948 in Saint Marc, Haiti. Eric was retired at the time of his passing but he had a long history of hard work towards taking care of his family, his highest priority. His resume would have him listed as an Insurance Agent (during a short period living in Haiti), a Cab Driver (in NYC), an Entrepreneur (his own Amway business) and finally a Civil Engineer (NYC and Haiti). Eric spent the better part of his 30 plus years engineering career working for the City of New York, first with the Department of Transportation and subsequently the Department of Environmental Protection, where he has made some lifetime friends. I am sure some of these friends here today would attest to that. Eric was an avid soccer fanatic, his favorite team was Real Madrid. He loved to analyze political issues with friends and enjoyed to play board games. Eric could not hear the sounds of a drum without moving his hips. He was a good dancer but beware to all "wap pran gouyad kan mem. " Eric loved his family and would speak to most of his cousins every day. Most people referred to Eric as an advisor, a mentor, and a role-model. He had great listening skills and often, if not always, gave very sound advices. Eric was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2017 and underwent several treatments. He valiantly fought this dreaded disease until he took his last breath that night at 10:25 PM. His nephew, Evens Vincent, niece, Patrice Jean, and cousin, Edwidge Eugene became his caring team during various hospital stays. In fact throughout his sickness they've always been there with him and for him. They've been key in helping him with decisions on best course of treatment at different phases of the disease and advocated for him. We all have many funny and sweet memories about him, and we could go on telling his stories for days. But we know that would only cover a very short version of his life and it would still be an imperfect version of the person we all loved so dearly. Even though he's gone, he will forever be with us, such as in the leaves of the trees that he planted. Let's continue to remember and honor his principles that will be treasured by many generations in our family to come. It is with great sorrow to announce that Eric Delva has passed away on November 15th, 2023, at 75 years old. Eric will be remembered by his three children, Tresoline Delva, Geuka Delva, and Eric Delva JR and his step-daughter, Stephane Smart. Eric had five grand-children and two step grandchildren. He will be remembered by his two older brothers, Ernst and Serge Benoit and his 16 nieces and nephews. His memory will be cherished forever by all these families deeply affected by his passing: Delva, Benoit, Jean, Joseph, Eugene, Estime, Guillaume, Case, and Vincent. Rest In Peace Eric, we'll see you on the other side. Show more

Aage Johannessen

Aage Johannessen

Age - 75

December 1, 2023

Aage Jonny Johannessen was born on March 6th, 1948, to the proud parents of Johannes and Olga (Larsen) Johannessen in the beautiful village of Lillehammer, Norway. His life's journey took him from the snow-laden paths of Lillehammer to the bustling avenues of New York City in 1950. Aage was remarkably close to his family as well and he would later welcome his brother Roy and his sisters Judy, Mary, and Eileen to the family as the eldest of 5. In 1971, Aage would meet his life partner/wife, Maureen Johannessen (Donnellan) and they would settle in Park Slope, Brooklyn and start a family together. In 1971, Maureen would give birth to their first child, Christine Marie, followed by two sons Steven Douglas and Jonathan Eric. He was so proud of all his kids and their individual accomplishments. He would later gain two sons-in-law, Kenneth and Damon. Aage would become a dedicated servant of the New York City Mass Transit Authority starting as a booth clerk and rising all the way up the ranks to upper management. Although in his later years, Aage would be confronted with many health issues, including multiple aortic valve repairs of the heart, prostate cancer and lymphoma, he defeated every one of these health challenges head on to live a long, productive life. The biggest joy Aage enjoyed was being a grandfather; little did he know he would become a grandfather six times - to Ryan, Brenden, Carly, Benjamin, Zachary and Delilah. One of his favorite excursions later in life would be his cherished escapades to Atlantic City with his trusty companion, Jimmy Mac. Atlantic City would later become his home away from home as he made friends with all the staff at the Borgata Hotel and Casino which he would later consider family. Aage also was a big sports fan as he enjoyed watching the local teams play including the Mets, Rangers and Jets. Let it be known that Aage Jonny Johannessen, son of Lillehammer, citizen of the USA, Merchant Marine and patriarch of a loving family, lived a full life of fun, friendship, and laughter. There will come a time when the tears of sadness and grief will be replaced with a big bright smile when we remember Aage. Let us celebrate the life of a man who has taught us the true measure of joy and the strength of tenderness for in the echoes of his laughter. In lieu of flowers, financial contributions in memory of Aage can be made to HEART 9/11 (heart911. org) and Families of Freedom Fund (familiesoffreedom. org).Show more

Kent Niles

Kent Niles

Age - 81

December 1, 2023

May 19, 1942 - November 27, 2023 We celebrate the life and legacy of our brother, father, grand- and great-grandfather, Kent Theodore Niles, Sr. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Rowena (Renee), brother Edwin (Ed) and sister Justine, children Frank and James Cappini, and Kimberlee Mickel. He is survived by his brothers Dave and Wendell, children Kent Niles Jr. (Ted), Kelly Short, Ron Niles, Angela Wright, Sandy Claiborne, David Wheaton, Michael Bryant, Judy Williams, Kathy Parman, John Cappini, and grand-children and great-grandchildren too numerous to list. Kent's first two marriages, to Patricia Glick and Helene Eldredge, ended in divorce. In 1985, Kent married Rowena (Renee) Jester, each of whom would quickly become the love of the others' life. Until they were separated by Renee's passing in early 2021, we all admired the strength of the union, and how each gave the other the space to thrive in their own right. Kent was a very talented "natural" mechanic, beginning in the era when "fixing" something meant diagnosing and repairing the fault, not simply wholesale replacement of a module or component. As such, he was the "Go-To" guy for all and sundry who needed those skills brought to bear on a tool, tractor, car, truck or other mechanical device. No matter how busy he may have been in his day job, he never turned away anyone who sought out his help. He was proud of the nickname "Mr. Gadget" given him to describe his resourcefulness. Although Kent's first two marriages ended in divorce, the relationships formed with the children never ended at all. All the children, no matter the maternal parentage, were treated exactly the same. He was, simply, "Pop" to all. He never introduced his children to others as anything other than "My son" or "My daughter. " The term "Step" never entered into it, often to the amusement of those on the other side of the introduction. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 2:00pm at Walton's Sierra Chapel, located at 875 W. Second Street, Reno, Nevada, 89503. The family invites you to leave a message of condolence on Kent's Memory Wall at www. waltonsfuneralhomes. comShow more
