Janyce Buono

Janyce Buono

Age - 72

November 17, 2023

Heavens gates opened for Janyce Buono on November 15, 2023. She was 72 years old. Janyce was born on December 11, 1950 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Helen & Albert Hope. Early on the family moved to Munster, Indiana. After college, she came to New York and got a job teaching at Suffern High School. It was here she met her husband, Bob. They were married for 42 years. Janyce was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment that the family was together. She especially loved her role as Nana. Her greatest joy was taking her grandkids, Layla & Kameron, to Van Saun park to ride the train, blowing bubbles with them on the back porch, and spoiling them rotten. Janyce had the kindest soul and always walked around with a smile on her face (and a perfectly matching tennis outfit!). She was an extremely hard worker, spending the majority of her career as a Physical Education teacher at R. P. Connor Elementary School, serving as the girls tennis, basketball, softball, and gymnastics coach over the years, and managing Stonegate Pool during the summers. An avid gardener, she found purpose and peace tending to her many flowers outside the family home in Suffern. Janyce was also a fierce competitor on the tennis court when she wasn't refereeing high school field hockey, basketball, and lacrosse games. She considered M & M's to be a main food group acceptable as early as breakfast and Diet Coke to be a great substitution for water. While Janyce was busier in retirement than ever, she and her husband still found time to travel and see the world. She rarely sat down to relax but if she did, it was to watch her two favorite shows: Judge Judy and Blue Bloods. Janyce is survived by her husband Robert Buono; her daughter Heather; her son Kevin (Rachel); her two grandchildren Layla and Kameron; her brother Alan Hope (Ginny); her brother James Hope (Connie); her sister Susan Blanchard (Kevin). She is predeceased by her parents, Albert and Helen Hope. All of these she loved and touched deeply. Please join us in celebrating her life Monday, November 20, 2023 at Wanamaker & Carlough in Suffern, NY from 2:00pm-4:00pm and 7:00pm-9:00pm. There will also be a funeral mass on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at The Church of the Presentation in Upper Saddle River, NJ at 11:15am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CurePSP at www. psp. org. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www. wanamakercarlough. com for the Buono family.Show more
