Laura Scott

Laura Scott

Age - 28

December 1, 2023

It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my beloved sister, Laura Marie Scott, who unexpectedly passed away on November 25th, at the young age of 28. Laura was born on September 8, 1995 in Cody, Wyoming to Howard and Carolyn Scott. She grew up in Cody alongside her surviving sister Ashley Scott and best friend for life Summer Franklin. Laura was a loving mother, sister and friend, always willing to lend a helping hand and a listening ear. She had a warm personality, contagious laugh and a very generous heart that made her an instant favorite among all who knew her. She spent her best years growing up with her uncle willy and she was his biggest fan, she loved nothing more than spending time with him, whether it was riding horses or going for drives up north fork and chief Joseph looking for animals or shooting guns. You could always find them enjoying life to the fullest together. Laura worked at The Maverick for the past two years. She made many customers smile daily and you could always catch her talking about her kids, her horses, and her nephews who she was proud of. Her youngest nephew Reece loved his aunty and loved coming to see her every morning she worked to pick out a donut and get the biggest hugs from her. She showed compassion and empathy for everyone that walked into the store and always greeted them with a smile and always said "I hope you have a wonderful day today" as you left her register. She always strived to make everyone feel loved. She had a passion for all animals, especially horses and loved horseback riding, and made it a point to take her children everyday to ride. Laura looked to the future and practiced barrel racing in her downtime as she was excited and determined by next year to sign up in the rodeo, it was her biggest dream and she wasn't going to stop at nothing to succeed that dream. If anyone knew how to love with their whole heart and show compassion it was Laura. Despite facing many challenges in her life, Laura remained resilient through it all. She fought tooth and nail no matter the outcome to give her children the best life possible. They were her treasures and joys of her life and loved them completely with her whole heart and soul. She was everybody's superhero. Laura Marie Scott is survived by her four children Genie, Alyssa, Aurora and Stuart, her sister Ashley Scott and two nephews Tristan and Reece Scott her uncle William and aunt Jayne Scott, uncle Larry and aunt Tressa Scott, aunt Shawna Scott, her aunt Jennifer mills and cousins near and far. Laura Marie Scott is preceded in death by her mother Carolyn Scott, her Grandmother Anneke Scott and Grandfather Lloyd Scott and grandparents Mel and Muriel Nading. Her life will be celebrated in a public service on December 2, 2023 at 1pm at Ballard Funeral Home, 636 19th St, Cody, WY 82414 followed by a burial at Riverside Cemetery. Laura will be missed dearly. May your soul rest in eternal peace and may your spirit ride in the sunset with the stallions that you loved most. Angel Schuster

Angel Schuster

Age - N/A

October 11, 2023

Angel Kelly Schuster, our precious son, has passed away after 20 weeks of gestation having been born October 9th, 2023. A life doesn't need to be long-lived to be meaningful, it just needs to be lived to be special. Angel was loved so dearly by his big brother Bentley, parents Brooke and Seth Schuster. With all the extra love from grandparents, uncles, aunts and his nephew. He is a precious gift that will never be forgotten even if he cannot be with us here on earth. Services are with Ballard Funeral Home. Although my presence was short, my time was well embraced. I will never forget my warm longing by all who loved me. The love we shared will be eternal even though I am no longer living just keep believing. Big brother, I know you may miss me but one day you'll be able to fill the void I have left you. One day, you'll have another chance at the role of big brother. For I know you will be fine, I will make sure of it. Although I am not by your side, I will be with you watching over you. Feel my presence in all the peace and beauty of life as I watch over you. May every October you remember me by feeling my presence in the crisp fall air and all the falling leaves or the white pumpkins; that seem out of place amongst all the fall colors. That will be me, you see. Although I created a missing piece, remember even though my body is gone my spirit will bring you peace. You may not feel complete now but I promise you, one day you will. Doris Kenney

Doris Kenney

Age - 100

September 15, 2023

Doris S Kenney passed away peacefully at her home in Cody, on the morning of September 14, 2023, at the age of 100. Doris was born in Forsyth Montana on January 14, 1923 and was the youngest girl of 17 children. Her family moved to Colstrip after her 8th grade year, where she met Leo J Kenney. Just four days after she turned 18, they were married by Rev. R. N. Buswell on January 18, 1941. Doris and Leo celebrated 61 years of marriage, before Leo passed in 2002. Shortly after marrying, Leo joined the Army and was accepted into the Air Corp. Doris and three other military wives followed their husbands across the country, from California to South Carolina. When Leo was sent overseas, Doris returned to Montana and moved to Billings to live with her sister, Helen. Doris worked at JC Penney until Leo returned home and they settled down in Billings. Two sons were born in Billings, Michael Lee (Mic) in 1946 and Terry James in 1949. They lived in Billings until 1951, when they moved to Cody. Daughter, Kristine Kay was born in 1964 in Cody. Doris and Leo built her "dream house" in 1971 and she lived there until her death. She was always proud of her home and couldn't believe that she lived in such a beautiful place. Christmas was always at "Grandma D's" house. . . there was never a question. Doris was a longtime member of the Presbyterian Church in Cody and attended as long as her health allowed. She was a member of PEO and played in several bridge groups. Doris was a gardener, quilter, fisherwoman, camper, and a serious card player! She always had time for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She made incredible cinnamon rolls and made sure all of her family had a fresh batch for their Christmas morning breakfasts. Doris is survived by children Mic (Julie) Kenney, Terry (Kay) Kenney, Kris (Paul) Brock; grandchildren Marianne (Troy) Stoll, Chris (Tally) Kenney, Nic Kenney, Jennifer Pollock, Andrea (Tyler) Garnett; great grandchildren Sierra Stoll, Caden Stoll, Aubrey Kenney, Tanner Kenney, Tyler Kenney, Jayma Tuttle and Brock Garnett. We especially want to mention the wonderful relationship she had with her caregiver of many years, and treasured friend, Debbie Clark. You are forever in our hearts, Debbie. Finally, we cannot express our gratitude enough for the care given by Yellowstone Home Care and Stillwater Hospice. These people have compassion beyond belief and we are thankful for them all. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 18, 2023 at 10am followed by graveside services at Riverside Cemetery and lunch back at the church. Thank you to the Presbyterian Deacons for preparing the luncheon. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Presbyterian Church of Cody, in Doris' name.
