Woodbridge, VA
"Patricia Jane Cyr-Law passed away suddenly at home with her husband holding her Tuesday evening, September 12, 2023. She was 63. She is survived by her parents Dale and Ginette Cyr of Sumter, SC; her husband of 17 years James Law of Woodbridge, VA, her son Tony Crawford and his wife Emily of Belair, MD; their children Addelyn, Noah and Kash; and her granddaughter Makyla Clark, who is attending the University of Maryland. Preceding her in death were her brother Patrick Cyr (1993) and her son Christopher Crawford (2016). She was born in a military hospital in Heidelberg, Germany, and travelled back and forth on troop ships across the Atlantic with her parents and younger brother to Northern Virginia on different assignments, eventually settling in Woodbridge. She volunteered at animal shelters in old Woodbridge with a few dogs following her home. A 1979 graduate of Woodbridge High School, she was a Micky D's assistant manager and Ronald McDonald character, a cosmetologist and barber. She was adept with her cooking and baking skills (Patty Cakes) to decorate cakes for NBC4's Willard Scott for his 100th birthday celebrations on TV. She got her commercial driver's license to drive school buses for Prince William County, and then in 2001 driving 18-wheel dump trucks for the GDC Virginia Land Company. She was one of their best drivers (more loads of hauling ash in a workday/week) getting her own emerald-green Kenworth truck #574. She retired from commercial driving after an accident in 2009. She was active in the Scouting movement as a youth in Girl Scouts (in Germany and Virginia) and all levels of the Boy Scouts of America as an adult. She worked at Cub Scout Day Camps, Camp Ross in Goshen, Camp Airy in Thurmont, and conducted day and resident camp inspections in Northern Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and Pennsylvania. She was Wood Badge (Eagle) and Power Horn (high Adventure) trained. She attended Four National Jamborees working in the Commissioner Corps, Security and Logistics. She was a conservationist and believed in intelligent use and stewardship of the land. All this and she was a Band and Theatre MOM too! Anyone who knew her understands how kind, generous and loving she was. She was an incredibly selfless person. If you needed something she was the first person there to help. Donations in Patty's name may be made to either: 1) Leave No Trace (https://lnt. org/) or 2) A local \u0026quot;no kill\u0026quot; Animal Shelter.
