"Patricia Marchant Curtin, 81, of Leesburg, Florida, passed away on April 28th after a lengthy illness. Patricia was the most beloved wife of John Claude Curtin. They met in Paris in the sixties, married and enjoyed a wonderful life together for 56 years. They lived most of their lives in Penn Yan, New York, on Seneca Lake in the Finger Lakes region. Patricia was born on October 17, 1941 to John and Gladys Marchant in Pennington, New Jersey. After graduating with Masters Degrees in the French and Italian languages, she worked for over 30 years at Onongada Community College as a full professor of languages. She also served as the language department chair and supervised the advisory program for new students. Socially, Patricia and Claude formed a gourmet club with their very dear friends Ginny and George Pierce and Mary Ellen and Paul Hoderline. Together, they prepared very elaborate, well- researched meals to share with the members of the club. Later, Claude and Patricia became snowbirds, spending their winters in their home in Stonecrest and summers enjoying their home on Seneca Lake. Just over a year ago, they moved to Lake Port Square Independent Living in Leesburg where they have met wonderful people and enjoyed Florida life despite Patricia is declining health. In retirement, Patricia was not easily board and spend her time fully enjoying a quiet life avidly reading her Kindle as a member of the New York Public Library. When her husband, Claude was ordained as a deacon of the Catholic Church, Patricia assisted him with his ministries - totally sharing in that aspect of their lives together. She was an enthusiastic volunteer at The Villages Hospital and Our Mother's Attic Resale in Wildwood, a ministry of the Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Patricia was pre-deceased by her loving parents, John and Gladys Marchant, her beloved brothers, Stephen Marchant and John Marchant and her sister, Kathy Marchant who lived in Norway. Patricia was also pre-deceased by her sisters-in-law Cynthia Marchant, wife of Stephen, and Mary Beth Baiel, sister of Claude, with whom she had very close loving friendships. Patricia is survived by her dearest sister, Sally Marchant of Penn Yan, New York and her nephews Rich and Steve Simon of Chicago, Illinois, who are devoted to both Patricia and Claude. There will be a celebration of Patricia\u0027s life in a Christian service at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 5323 E. County Road 462, Wildwood, Florida, on May 11 at 1 PM. The burial service will stream live beginning at 12:45. (Please see instructions below) Patricia will be forever remembered as a very loving, good-humored, and inexhaustibly kind person. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Saint Vincent de Paul Social Ministry.
