Mrs. Patricia Darlene Smith Burns, 75, of Duck Hill, passed away Friday, October 6, 2023 at the University of Mississippi Medical Center - Grenada. She was born January 3, 1948 in Grenada to John Oliver and Irene Laura Hawk Smith. Pat spent most of her life working in the manufacturing industry having worked for many years at Pennaco Hosiery and later at Heatcraft. She was a member of Unity Baptist Church at Red Hill. A dedicated homemaker, she took great pride in keeping an immaculate home and also enjoyed working in her yard. She cared deeply for her faithful pet cat, "Blue" who provided many hours of company to her. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, October 9, 2023 at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada with Rev. Ron Sessum officiating. Interment will follow in the Grenada Memorial Garden. Family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service Monday at McKibben and Guinn. Survivors include a daughter, Tara Rutledge(Martin) of Gore Springs; son, Patrick Burns(Tina) of Duck Hill; three grandchildren, Samantha Marbury, Brayden Marbury and Katie Bug Burns; one sister, Cindy Sultan of Duck Hill and two brothers, Bobby Smith of Vicksburg and Tim Smith of Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph W. "Jody" Burns; daughter, Angela Rene Burns; sister, Deborah Fitzgerald; and brothers, Jack and Johnny Smith. Brayden Marbury, Martin Rutledge, Bobby Smith, Tim Smith, Michael Wetterich and Tommy Wetterrich will honor Patricia by serving as pallbearers and carry her to her final resting place. Mrs. Helen Fowler Gordon, 97, of Sweatman, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2023 in Grenada. She was born November 13, 1926 in Sweatman to Roscoe and Thelma Butts Fowler. Mrs. Gordon was a faithful and devoted member of the Red Hill Church of Christ. She devoted over 35 years of her life to the service of others as a Social Worker with the Mississippi Department of Human Services. Mrs. Gordon possessed a deep love for the outdoors and found great pleasure in mowing her yard and working in her flowers. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and cherished those special memories she was able to make with them during her lifetime. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, November 27, 2023 at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada with Bro. Cole Surrell officiating. Interment will follow in the Gordon Cemetery at Sweatman. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 PM Sunday afternoon and one hour prior to the service Monday all at McKibben and Guinn. Survivors include three daughters, Diane Whitfield(Larry), Sherry Gordon and Cathy Sykes(Mike) all of Sweatman; one son, Roger Gordon of Sweatman; one brother, Bidwell Fowler of Madison; nine grandchildren, Gordon Whitfield, Brandon Whitfield, Tate Gordon, Amanda Cobb, Andrew Gordon, Tuesdie Renfrow, Brittany Bachelor, Brian Sykes and Meggie McKay; 20 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Taylor Gordon, Sr. ; son, Robert Taylor Gordon, Jr. ; two sisters, Frankie Marter and Catherine Jenson and a brother, Drew Fowler. Caleb Bachelor, B. J. McKay, Maddox Renfrow, Ryan Renfrow, Brian Sykes, Brandon Whitfield and Gordon Whitfield will honor Mrs. Gordon by serving as pallbearers and carry her to rest in the Gordon Cemetery.
