"I regretfully announce the passing of my beloved mother Patricia James. She passed away Friday September 8 at Bell Trace surrounded by their wonderful caring and compassionate staff. She fought a brave and lengthy battle. I was blessed to have a mother that encouraged me to follow my passion . She encouraged me to be the best I could be, to not give up, to be true to my heart and to always treat others as I wished to be treated. She was my rock, my role model. In 1956 she met the love of her life, Jack James. They married in December of 1956. In 1957 they were blessed with one child, me! They could tell from day one I was going to be a handful and decided one would be more than enough. I will never be able to fill the void she is leaving behind. Her passions were motorsports, her love of animals, supporting our military men and women. And supporting me as I chased my dreams. In her later years she followed politics and current affairs. She loved a good debate. Pat was preceded in death by her loving husband of 26 years. Her mother and father, Frank and Ferrol Lantz. Sister Catherine Funkhouser and her husband Robert. Sister Dorothy Watson and her husband Ward. Niece Lana Hershman. Patricia is survived by me, daughter Teresa, nephew John Hershman of Evansville Indiana; Great Nephew Robin Hershman and his wife Suzette also of Evansville; Great Nephew Lance Funkhouser and wife Kelly of Key West, Florida. A special thank you to the Ellettsville Fire Department and EMT\u0027s. They graciously came, providing a lift assist every evening. They also provided mom with nickname, Sassy Pants. Linda Meyer, affectionately known as "Linnie" or "Lin", was born on January 24, 1946, and passed away on December 7, 2023. She leaves behind her husband, Larry Wright; her beloved sister, Joanie Meyer; both of Bloomington, Indiana, as well as numerous cousins scattered throughout Illinois and California; and a wide circle of loyal friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Marshall and Alyne Meyer and her brother, Fred Michaelson. Prior to her retirement, Linda worked over 30 years in social welfare work in Cincinnati, Ohio. After her retirement, Linda reinvented herself as a consummate gifted and talented artist. Linda was the queen of creativity. She never met a color or technique that she did not like. Her attention to detail was amazing, as was her ability to experiment. The titles for her art pieces revealed her humor, whit, and whimsy. In addition to prolific creator, she was also a well known exhibitor and teacher. She loved doing anything that had to do with art. Linda was a loyal member of Congregation Beth Shalom for well over 15 years. She also served on various temple committees and exhibited many years at the annual Holiday Bazaar. She loved to travel, especially going on cruises. She was an avid reader, enjoyed all of the foreign crime TV series, a devoted doggy mama to Peanut and Yogi (and many other dogs through the years), and loved spending time with her friends and family; especially her sister Joanie. Linda had a flair for edgy haircuts and hair colors, funky eyeglasses and clothing; she was a true fashionista. Linda's keen wit and sense of humor as well as her whimsical-colorful artwork will be sorely missed. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Beth Shalom, art organizations, or any of your choosing. Per Linda's wishes, graveside services will be private, and a celebration of life will be announced and held at a later date.Show more

Sarah Massa

Age - 45

December 4, 2023

Sarah Combs Massa passed away Saturday, December 2, 2023, after an intense battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband William S. Massa, III (Stan), their children Caroline E. Massa, Henry T. Massa and Joseph W. Massa, her parents Kathy B. and Steven R. Combs, her brother Andrew S. Combs, nephews Noah R. and Baylor K. Combs, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Sarah was preceded in death by her grandparents John T. and Kathryne G. Bible and Willie B. and Hazel E. Combs. She was a graduate of Morristown-Hamblen High School East and Walters State. After obtaining her real estate license, she found selling it lonely, and returned to waiting tables, which she actually liked as an extension of her social nature and tendency to care for others. Sarah relished swimming, boating, skiing, tubing - basically anything to do with being in and around the water. She enjoyed long distance running and was competitive in several half-marathons. She loved singing, dancing, acting and generally just being on stage, having had leading roles in multiple musicals and plays, been a member of Up With People, and even performed on Broadway once. She was an incredible cook and her natural abilities in the kitchen enabled her to be creative in taking on challenging dishes, entertaining frequently in earlier years and being a wonderful host to her friends and family. Along with her affinity for people, Sarah could never turn away a stray. Her love of animals led her to take in many found abandoned in strange places. Her biggest joy, by far though, was spending time with her kids. Her patience and compassion were most evident with them, and she managed to pass that on to them at an early age. She really loved watching them grow, attending their games and performances. She intended to be there forever, and she will, in spirit and in our hearts. Services will be held 7 PM, Friday, December 8, 2023, at First Presbyterian Church in Morristown, with Reverend Sam Schaus officiating. Visitation will be held from 5- 7 PM, before the services. The family will hold a private interment at a later date. Allen Funeral Home is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Serenity House in Morristown (Friends of Hospice of the Lakeway Area, Inc. ).
