Flint Robertson

Flint Robertson

Age - 89

December 1, 2023

FLINT ROBERTSONCOX FUNERAL HOMEBASTROP, LOUISIANAFlint Robertson was born August 29, 1934 in New Orleans, LA and passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at the age of 89. He was the owner of Robertson Produce, Inc. , a 3rd generation family-owned business started by his parents in 1947. The company began as a small strawberry farm in Bastrop, LA and the family helped plant and harvest the berries. Flint, the eldest of 6 siblings, was a natural salesman from an early age and was instrumental in the development of Robertson Produce. In the early days, while peddling strawberries around town, customers began to ask if he had other fruits or vegetables to sell. The family then bought the first refrigerated truck in north Louisiana, which enabled them to buy and sell other produce items. At the young age of 15, Flint began driving trucks to New Orleans (often alone) to pick up produce which he believed could be sold the following week. He frequently made these trips in one day, returning late at night to not miss school the following day. Flint took great pleasure in loving his customers and helping them succeed. He was devoted to doing business the right way, by treating customers, vendors, and employees fairly. This was evidenced by Robertson Produce being recognized nationally for numerous industry awards during his 50 years as company president. He helped lay the groundwork to a company that now has 3 locations: Monroe, LA, Clinton, MS, and Shreveport, LA. Flint and his beloved wife, Jackie, were charter members of Memorial Methodist Church in Bastrop, where he served in many leadership positions. He was an active member of the United Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Association, Produce Alliance, and the Produce Marketers Association. He was a member of the Bastrop Jaycees, Bastrop Lions Club, a Master Mason in the Mount Gerizim #54 Lodge and a lifetime member of Scottish Rite Temple. Late in life Flint returned to his roots of growing strawberries as a hobby. People would look forward to his sweet strawberries year after year and he loved to give them to friends and relatives, as much as he loved selling them. He will be remembered as "everyone's friend", a joyful man who loved to laugh and make people smile. He often left people with a joke, or a story and he particularly enjoyed entertaining friends in his First Methodist Church-Monroe Aldersgate class. Flint was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Jackie Wroten Robertson, parents Barney and Aline Robertson, brothers Jimmy and Michael Robertson, sister Susan Whitworth, and sister-in-law LaNell Landry (Bertney). He is survived by his four children, Cindy Jones (Larry) of Hot Springs, AR, Patricia Robertson Solano (Tomas) of Moraira, Spain, Nancy Campbell (Brian) of Bastrop, LA, and Dan Robertson (Hope) of Monroe, LA; six grandchildren, Kelly Aline Stone, Morgan Stephens, Patrick Smith (April), Lelia, Rebecca, and Sawyer Robertson; brother Terry Robertson, sister Karen Gray; sisters-in-law Nita Robertson and Patsy Taylor (Jack), as well as numerous nieces and nephews whom their Uncle Flint adored. A visitation will be held Saturday, Dec. 2nd at First Methodist-Monroe from 3:00-5:00 p. m. The funeral service will be on Sunday, Dec. 3rd, at Memorial Methodist-Bastrop at 2:00 p. m. with a visitation beginning at 1:00 p. m.
