Pamela Louise VanHorn, 66, of Catlettsburg, passed away Monday, September 11, 2023, in King's Daughters Medical Center. She was born January 24, 1957, in Ashland, Kentucky, a son of the late Donald E. and Dorothy Brown VanHorn. In addition to her parents, a brother, James Allen VanHorn preceded her in death. Pam was a member of Wildwood Church of God. She was a graduate of Paul G. Blazer High School, Marshall University and received her Master's degree from the University of Kentucky. She worked as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with Greenup County Pathways prior to opening her private practice Interhope Counseling Services. She was a member of NASW, AFCC and was an avid UK Fan. Survivors include her brother, Donald E. VanHorn, Jr. and wife, Judy of Ashland; nephew, Stephen VanHorn and wife, Angie of Ashland; and two great nieces, Chloe Alyse VanHorn and Emma Grace VanHorn. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p. m. Thursday, September 14, 2023, at STEEN FUNERAL HOME 13TH STREET CHAPEL with Pastor Steve Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be from Noon until 1:00 p. m. " - Henry David ThoreauWarren Eugene Stewart, age 54, of Catlettsburg, KY, passed away a peacefully at Cabell Huntington Hospital on November 27th, 2023. Warren was born in the final days of summer on September 13th, 1969, in Ashland, Kentucky. He was the blessing of Warren Stewart, who preceded him in death and Hazel Ellen Shockey Wells of Catlettsburg, KY. Warren was a lifelong resident of Boyd County and graduated from Boyd County High School. He was enjoying his retirement from the Labor Local Union 1445. Warren loved being outside and spent many days working in the yard or just on the banks fishing. He found his peace outdoors. He had an ear for music and enjoyed it very much. His taste in music was very broad and enjoyed many genres of music. He made the best memories enjoying a good concert with his daughter. Warren loved his family and his favorite way to pass the time was spending it with them. In addition to his mother, Warren leaves behind his four children Ashlee Bauer and her husband Joseph of Peoria, IL, Hollie Ferguson of Greenup, Ky, Chase Stewart of Ashland, KY, and Warren Stewart of Ashland, KY, two precious grandchildren Madilyn Scappaticcio and Timothy Alex Ferguson, two brothers Christoper Blevins of Pennsylvania, and Jimmy Blevins and his wife Melissa of Louisa, KY, and two sisters Rita Britton and her husband Russ of Catlettsburg, KY and Regina Daniels and her husband Den of Rush, KY. Also surviving is one special Nephew Josh Britton and many extended family members and friends. In addition to his father, Warren is preceded in death by his wife that he loved so much, Toddy, his grandmother Louise Shockey, one brother George Stewart and Aunt Sharon White. He chose a soul too sweet for this world and he took Shelby Raelynn Campbell home to be by his side. Shelby was born the sweet blessing of Drew and Judy Lynn Campbell of Catlettsburg, Kentucky on June 21st, 2023. Although she was only here for a moment, she leaves behind many memories the family will cherish. Her little personality was loving and kind. Her soul was innocent and sweet. Her face was that of an angel. Her family will never forget the time they got to spend with her and the way she made their lives better. Shelby touched so many hearts in her five months here on earth and her memory will live on through the love they had for her. Pauline was born on a fall day in Raleigh County, WV, on October 21st, 1937. She was the blessing of the late Noah A. and Stella Mae Bryant Caudill. Pauline was a graduate of Thomas R. Brown High School. She worked as an associate at Stumps Hallmark, but her most important job was being a good mother and providing a loving home for her children. Pauline had a strong faith in God and was a member of the Second Baptist Church. She had a creative heart and loved to work with her hands sewing many treasures that her family will cherish for years. Pauline was as special as a single yellow rose among the rest. She was so loved, and was a dedicated mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Pauline will be missed beyond measure and remembered by the love and memories she left behind. " Mahatma GandhiStella Ross, age 76, of Ashland, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on November 7th, 2023, at Boyd Nursing, with fond memories of her family on her mind. Stella was born in the early days of Spring on March 19th, 1947. She was the blessing of the late Reese and Verda Newsome Griffith. She was a 1965 graduate of Paul Blazer High School and she furthered her education at Ashland Vocational and Technical School, where she obtained her Licensed Practical Nursing Certification. She would use this certification to help heal the hearts in her community at Ashland Hospice. Stella selflessly served her community for over 30 years through hospice until her retirement in 2012. When Stella wasn't nursing, she busied her hands with crafts. She loved to paint and do cross stitch. She made many treasures her family will cherish for a lifetime. Stella had a fun-loving soul. She loved to shop and listen to music and joke around with her family. She leaves behind many friends and precious family who will miss her dearly. Stella leaves behind her two loving children Heather Kirtley and her husband Tolbert of Ashland, KY and Ronall Don Ross also so Ashland, KY, three precious grandchildren Alexandria Cossett, Cameron Cossett, Verda Ross, four great grandchildren Waylon Amburgey, Aubrey Duke, Mason Duke, and Liam Duke; three sisters Shirley Rice, Hellen Clair, and Kathleen Thompson, and one brother-in-law David Rice. Also surviving are many extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents, Stella is reunited with her loving husband of 48 years Ronall Ray Ross. Garry was born a little over two weeks into the new year on January 17th, 1957. He was a blessing to the late Jacob Junior and Clyta Clark Malone. He grew up with the love of a big family, being one of twelve children. He attended Boyd County High School and developed a knack for construction. Garry was a very talented concrete finisher, and his work still stands along the streets of Ashland. He was one of the hardest working men his family ever seen, and he will remain an inspiration to their goals for the rest of their lives. Growing up with many siblings Garry developed a feisty personality and a heart full of strength. It was this strength that pulled him through his many battles over the last three years. It is his strength that will be instilled in his family for many years to come. He loved many things in life like the friendly competition in a good game of pool, and a relaxing day fishing on the riverbank, however it was time spent with his family and being a "Pap" to his grandson that he loved the most. Garry was loved by so many people and leaves behind a void in those lives that he touched that can only be filled with the love he left behind and the memories he made. Barbara was born in the late days of summer on August 23rd, 1948. She was the blessing of the late Roy Gillam and the late Carrie "Betty" Sparks Gillam Sparkman. Barbara was a 1966 graduate of Thomas R. Brown High School. She later went on to earn her degree in accounting. Barbara worked for Family Home Health, Don Hall, and Elmwood Village before retiring in 2003. She enjoyed working with her hands and made beautiful crafts her family will enjoy for years. Barbara had an interest in the supernatural and loved to watch ghost hunting on the tv. Barbara had a warm heart and a gentle nature about her. She was loved by many and will be missed by all. Barbara is survived by her loving children Paula Franklin(Wade) of Ashland, KY, Missi Coomer of Grayson, KY, and Adam Hardin of Ashland, KY; seven grandchildren Mark Anthony Wade (Sydney), Amber Coomer ( Michael), Elizabeth " Coco" Coomer, Dakota Hardin, Holton Hardin, Cody Franklin (Dallas) , and Kayla Morrow (Garrett); nine great grandchildren; Riley, Evie, Lena, Harper, Delaney, Benton, Axel, Ava, and Waylon; one brother Tommy Sparkman of Middletown, OH, two sisters Connie Sawyers (Leroy), of Catlettsburg, KY, and Kathy Sparkman (Tim) of Middletown, OH, and one sister-in-law Kathy Gillam of Catlettsburg, KY.
