Colchester, CT
Pamela Jean Jobes, Fondly known as Pam, of Colchester, passed away on April 21, 2023, at Backus Hospital with her loving and attentive family by her side. She was 76 years old. Pam was born on March 16, 1947, in Pontiac MI, a daughter of the late James and Jean (Smith) Burtraw. Pam grew up in Jacksonville Florida where she graduated from Ribault High School. She enlisted with the United States Navy, serving during the Vietnam War. While stationed at Andrews Air Force Base, she met the love of her life, a career military man, John Jobes. The couple were married on February 11, 1967, in Jacksonville, FL. As a military family they moved from place to place, yet always keeping their family at the center of their attention. For many years, wherever they were living, Pam and John found places where they could share their love for square dancing. In 2003, they moved to Colchester where they have enjoyed their retirement ever since. In her spare time Pam enjoyed crafting and was a talented seamstress. Most importantly she will be remembered for her devotion to her family (the glue that kept them all connected), and she was the biggest fan supporting every endeavor her grandchildren engaged in. Pam will be sadly missed but always remembered with love by her husband of 56 years, John; her children and their spouses, Christopher (Rachael) Jobes of Clancy MT, Rebecca (Nathan) Emmons of Colchester CT, James ( Jacqueline) Jobes of Jacksonville FL; grandchildren, Dylan (Brittany) Jobes, Gavin and Lauren Emmons, Makenna and Eli Jobes, Carrie McClellan; great grandchildren Audrey-Ann, and Landyn Jobes; and numerous extended family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Carla Ann Pearson. A celebration of Pam's life will be held at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home 167 Old Hartford Road, Colchester, on April 29th from 3-5pm. Burial will be private.
