Ramona Louise Dudney Cardwell, age 93, of St. Clair Shores, Michigan passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2023. She was born in Jackson County, Tennessee on August 7, 1930 to her loving parents Raymond and Oka Dudney. Her only sibling is Sally Carney of Saginaw, Michigan. Sally always called Ramona "Sister".
Ramona moved to Detroit, Michigan with her family when she was 12 years old. She attended Barbour Junior High School and graduated from Eastern High School. She attended classes at Macomb County Community College for several years. Ramona and Jack raised their family in St. Clair Shores. Ramona retired from Lake Shore Public Schools after 30 years where she worked in administration.
Ramona was a life-long member of the Church of Christ and taught a women's Bible Study class for over 30 years. In addition to being a Bible scholar, her hobbies were sewing, quilting, cooking and baking. She loved to read and to garden.
Ramona loved spending time with her family and always hosted lovely holiday meals, birthday celebrations and special occasions. She was most happy with her family gathered around her. Her legacy of faith and love will be treasured by us always.
Ramona married Jack Cardwell on December 11, 1948. They were married for 63 years and had three children: Mona Kathryn (Donato), Thomas Jack (Sarah) and Paul Dudney (Teri). Jack passed away in 2011; Paul passed away in 2002; Teri passed away in 2021. She is the grandmother of Ryan (Shannon), Marc, Leah, Alexander (Krista), Spenser, Erin, Sophia and Samuel. Ryan and Marc passed away in 2020. The great grandmother of Madison, Marlee, Elijah and Angelo. The aunt of Brian Carney of Philadelphia, Jennifer Carney of Chicago, John Carney of Denver and Cristene Cardwell English of Lapeer, Michigan.
Instate will be held at A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr Road, on Friday, September 8, from 10am until the time of the funeral service at 12pm.Show more
