G. Ann Isbell, age 87, of Charleston, IL passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at 12:15 a. m. on Wednesday, November 29, 2023. She was born May 28, 1936 in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Robert and Alta (Johnson) Brooks. On December 30, 1955, she married James Ray Isbell in Charleston, IL. Survivors include her loving husband of 67 years, Jim Isbell of Charleston, IL; children, Kirk Isbell (Mary) of Charleston, IL, Jeri Hanner (Pud) of Charleston, IL, Tony Isbell of Marion, IL, and Becky Jones (Brian) of Charleston, IL; grandchildren, Kasey Pitstick (Scott) of Waconia, MN, Jason Isbell (Mindy) of Charleston, IL, Tyler Hanner (Beth) of Charleston, IL, Bo Hanner (Jessie) of Tuscola, IL, Caitlin Isbell of Champaign, IL, Chloe Isbell of Marion, IL, Chase Isbell of Marion, IL, Blair Jones (fiance Mike Uremovic) of Chicago, IL, Emily Olson (Jake) of Houston, TX, and Kayla Jones of Nashville, TN; 8 great grandchildren; 2 foster great grandkids; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Evelynn Cruppenink. Ann was a 1954 graduate of Eastern High School in Charleston, IL. She then married the love of her life and dedicated her time as a loving homemaker to her husband and children. Ann owned and operated University Fabric Shop in Charleston, IL. She later worked as a floral assistant at Lawyer Richie Floral Shop. Ann was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Charleston, IL. She was also a former member of the Elks Lodge #623 and Moose Lodge #1175 in Charleston, IL. Ann could create anything when it came to crafting. She was a gifted crafter including knitting, crotchet, sewing, scrapbooking, doll making, and quilting. She took pride in making quilts for all her kids. Ann loved spending time with her grandchildren. She proudly attended her grandchildren's sporting and dance events, cheering them on when she could. Ann was a fan of watching her kids and grandkids show cattle at the livestock shows. She also enjoyed being involved in the Coles County 4-H and Home Extension programs.
