Funeral service for Owen Lemuel "Lynn" Moore, age 77, of Trinity, will be 2:00 p. m. on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at Parkway Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Richie Thompson officiating. His family will receive friends from 12:30 p. m. until 2:00 p. m. prior to service. Interment will be in Midway Memorial Gardens. Guestbook available at www. parkwayfunerals. com. Mr. Moore, who died Monday, September 11, 2023, at his home, was born October 29, 1945, in Alabama to Audie Lee Moore and Dimple McCutcheon Moore Campbell. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Thomas Odell Campbell; daughter, Lindy Counce; two brothers, Robert "Jimmy" Moore and Audie Lee Moore (Penny); and two sisters, Laura Jo Boles and Dannie Faye Moore. Lynn was a loving husband, and a devoted family man who dearly loved his grandchildren. Not only did he enjoy gardening, cows, horses, NASCAR, old westerns, and Roll Tide football, but he loved working and making money. He is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Teresa (Shreves) Moore; three sons, Owen Moore, Jr. , David Mark Smith, and Chase Moore; stepson, Travis Beasley; stepdaughter, Jessica Shelton; brother, Jackie Moore (Mariealena); two sisters, Audrey Gail Day and Dale Bing (Kenneth); and five grandchildren, Victoria Counce, Claudia Counce, Emma Smith, Isaac Shelton, and Axle Beasley. Pallbearers will be Wesley Kirby, Tommy Kirby, Freeman Kirby, Travis Kirby, Ethan Kirby and Eric Kirby.

Funeral service for Wilma Ruth Hitt Carroll, age 96, of Hillsboro will be 12:00 p. m. on Monday, December 4, 2023, at Mount View Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Milwee and Devlon Carroll officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to service at the church. Interment will be in Morris Chapel Cemetery. Mrs. Carroll, who died Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at her residence, was born February 7, 1927, in Alabama to Lois R. Hitt and Rossie Irene Morris Hitt. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marcus Carroll; parents; son-in-law, Wilburn King; three brothers, Lloyd Hitt (Olean), Bobby Hitt (Bertie), and Edward Hitt; two sisters, Marjorie Parker (Aaron) and Dorothy Parker (Virgil); brother-in-law, Dwain Spears; three grandchildren, Jeremy Carroll, Katie Carroll, and Cinda Carroll, two great granchildren, Nora James Parker and Charles Stewart Carroll. She enjoyed sewing, working with flowers in her yard, and her church family at Mount View Baptist Church. Ruth was a WMU leader and Sunday School teacher for many years. She is survived by her son, Dennis Carroll (Delores); two daughters, Carolyn Anderson (Jimmie) and Janice King; two sisters, Mary Lee Hazle (Don) and Alice Hitt; and four grandchildren, Devlon Carroll, Jimmy Anderson (Kathy), Donna Hood (Mark), and Tina Parker (Bart). Pallbearers will be Zack Anderson, Craig Anderson, Jacob Hood, Andrew Hood, John Hood, and Marcus Carroll. Honorary pallbearers will be Alan Hood and Clayton Gosselin.Show more

Blacksburg -- Cameron Alan Eaton, 33, tragically passed away on November 7th, 2023 in Alabama. Cameron was born on June 6th, 1990 in Hollywood, FL to Angel Eaton and the late Bruce Eaton. He was a sweet, compassionate, and loving father to Katie, Emily, and Jake Eaton. Cameron was also a loyal brother and beloved son. He always said that he wanted his family and circle of friends to live a life full of love and joy, spread sunshine, and make others happy. Cameron put those words into practice by loving with his whole heart, helping others in their times of need, being a friend to all, and volunteering with Brotherly Love Ministries. In addition to his mother and children, Cameron is survived by his sisters, Sarah, Hope, and Grace Martin; his brothers, Robert "Lee" Martin IV and Elijah Adaway; his step-father, Robert Lee Martin III; an aunt and uncle, Heather and David Nelson; and cousins, Alyssa, Tyler, and David Nelson and Mykayla and Calex Martin. He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents: Irwin "Ducky" and Peggy Livingston, Joe and Ann Picallo, Paul and Beverly Eaton; and an uncle, Ernie Livingston. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 21st, 2023 at 5:00pm in the Gordon Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Russ Bradley officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Cameron had the biggest heart and will be missed dearly. The family will be at their respective homes. The Blacksburg location of Gordon Mortuary is serving the Eaton family.Show more

Bigham, Homer L. of Boaz, Alabama transitioned to his heavenly home on November 17, 2023 at the age of 87. Homer was born in Cutler, IL. Homer began his retail career at Woolworth in 1956. He managed department stores across the northern and southeastern U. S. holding multiple senior positions. His managerial talents were recognized by pioneer Sam Walton and in 1979 he joined the Wal-Mart corporation embarking on a successful career opening and managing multiple Wal-Mart locations across Alabama opening one of the first supercenters in north Alabama where he would eventually retire in Boaz, Alabama. In retirement, he and his wife Martha enjoyed years of extensive travel and adventure. Blessed with a sharp mind and a great sense of humor, this was displayed until the day of his passing. Homer enjoyed the art of conversation and never met a stranger. He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer O. Bigham and Ruby R. Bigham; his former wife Linda T. Bigham and son Bradley D. Bigham. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Martha Ashley Bigham. Children: Eric (Tracey) Bigham of Chelsea, AL, Tonya (Shon) Lee of Montgomery, AL, Melissa (Todd) Freshwater of Boaz, AL and Torre (Kriscenda) Aaron of Albertville, AL; sisters, Maridee Roth of O’Fallon, MO and Judy Runge of Murphysboro, IL He had 11 grandchildren and one great grandson. TUPELO - Laura Louise Banks Gilbert met her heavenly Father from her longtime residence in Tupelo on Friday, Nov. 10, 2023 after an extended illness. She was 81. Born in Lee County on November 20, 1941, to the late Eugene "Red" Banks and Laura Hunt Banks, Laura lived her entire life in Lee County. She made a profession of faith at an early age and was a faithful member of New Lebanon M. B. Church on Coley Road for many years. She loved attending church and actively participated in the choir and on the Usher Board. Mrs. Gilbert loved singing, was an excellent cook, especially known for her Pound and Red Velvet cakes, and was always happy when her family gathered around her. A practical jokester, Laura had a happy personality and enjoyed conversations with family and friends. A service celebrating her life will take place at New Lebanon M. B. Church on Coley Road in Tupelo on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 11 AM with her brother-in-law, Pastor Billy Rainey, as the lead officiant. Soloists will be Paul Cook and Rev. Chris Traylor. Visitation will be from 4 PM to 6 PM on Friday, Nov. 17, 2023, at Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo and from 10 AM-service time at New Lebanon M. B. Church on Saturday. Burial will take place at Mt. Pleasant Chesterville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Marcquavius, Keyun, Zaquaylin, Kaleb, Sonny Banks, Ronnie Shumpert, Dewayne Johnson, and Will Topp. Flower-bearers will be her great-nieces.
