Ouida Curry Obituary

Ouida M. Curry entered eternal rest on April 19, 2023. She was born May 12, 1928, in Mississippi. When not working at Woolworth's, she helped care for her mother and enjoyed spending time with her brothers and sisters. She was a member of Mt Vernon Baptist Church until she moved to Pasadena, Texas in 1969. In 1970 her daughter was born, and she became a stay-at-home mother. She joined Monument Baptist Church formerly Thomas Avenue Baptist Church, where she was an active member and worked for many years as a teacher at Mother's Day out. She went on to babysit for many families over the years where she became affectionately known as "Nanny" to all. In her later years, she focused on helping to raise her grandchildren when her son worked and enjoyed her daughter by her side. She was preceded in death by her parents Tom and Daisy Smith, her husband Perry Curry, her sister Thelma Hales, and brothers Cody and Richard Smith. Ouida is survived by sister Angeline Goodman, son Thomas Curry, daughter Julie Curry, grandson Matthew Curry and wife Ashley, granddaughter Candice Curry, great grandsons Connor, Cullen, and Cavan Curry, and sister-in-law Carol Smith and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, April 28, 2023 in the Chapel of Deer Park Funeral Directors. Family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until service time. Interment will be at Grand View Cemetery. Ouida will be missed by all. She is gone but her selfless spirit will never be forgotten. To plant Memorial Trees in memory of Ouida M.
