"Funeral services for John Burman Ford will be held Monday, February 5, 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Okemah, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at the Likowski Cemetery near Pharoah. John Burman Ford was born April 23, 1927 to Willie and Annie (Chisholm) Ford. He passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2024 in Okemah at the age of 96. John was a longtime resident of the Okemah area. He and Ruth Reid were married July 14, 1951 in Okemah; she later preceded him in death on April 1, 2011. John worked for over 40 years as a plumber and was the owner and operator of Okemah Plumbing Company. He enjoyed noodling, hunting and especially loved watching his kids, grandkids and great grandkids play sports and was a big supporter of Okemah High School athletics. Also preceding him in death were his parents; three brothers, George, Ules and Wilbourn Ford and two sisters, Parlee Henley and Frances Enox and son in law, Charlie Bates. Survivors include his son, Don Ford and wife Rita of Henryetta; two daughters, Cyndi McDaniel and husband Don of Okemah and Carolyn Bates of Shawnee; grandchildren, Kristy Ford, Kelli Ogle and husband Dee, Brant Ford and Makayla Davis and husband Eric, Scott Bates and wife Robin and Marc Bates and wife Michelle and great-grandchildren, Braxton Ogle, Jayci Ogle, Jacob Miller, Jaxx Miller, John Diesel Ford, Hennessey Davis, Zoie, Camden, Jackson and Jessica Bates. Serving as active pallbearers will be Dee Ogle, Braxton Ogle, Eric Davis, Brant Ford, Robert Adams and Jacob Miller. Honorary bearers include Kristy Ford, Kelli Ogle, Makayla Davis, Jayci Ogle, Jaxx Miller, John Diesel Ford and Hennessey Davis. Services will be under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah, Oklahoma and officiated by Billy Green. Robert Guy Mason

"Robert Guy Mason, 84, was born October 12, 1939, in Mound Valley, Kansas, to Robert and Edith (Hively) Mason and died January 28, 2024, at home in Okemah, Oklahoma. Guy and his mother moved to Norman, Oklahoma, from Mexico, Missouri, when he was five years old. He started school the next year and graduated from Norman High School in 1958 where he played first base for the undefeated State Champions that year. He entered the University of Oklahoma and majored in Journalism. Guy graduated from OU in 1963 and joined the Pauls Valley Daily Democrat (the first offset daily in the state) as advertising manager. He and Joyce Ann Helmers were married on January 11, 1964, in the First United Methodist Church in Bartlesville. The Masons moved to Frederick, Oklahoma, in 1965 when he became advertising manager there. They welcomed the birth of their first daughter Michelle Ann in 1966. The Masons moved to Oklahoma City in 1968 when he was employed by the Oklahoma Publishing Company in display advertising. He was named Salesman of the Year in 1970. They had their second daughter Melinda Joyce in 1971. In 1975 the Masons purchased 51 percent of the Okemah News Leader which was published twice a week. Their partners were Ken and Phyllis Reid of Weatherford, and John Turner of Vinita. Several years later the Masons bought out Turner and eventually the Reids’ shares were purchased. Guy served as president of the Okemah Chamber of Commerce and the Lions Club. He also served eight years in the Oklahoma National Guard. Guy enjoyed covering Okemah High School sports and the activities of their daughters, Michelle and Melinda. The Masons sold the News Leader in 2008 to Roger and Pamela Thompson. They remained in Okemah until his death. He enjoyed using the Okemah Public Library and the Senior Citizens Nutrition Center. He was also an avid fisherman as well as a fan of all OU sports as he grew up a half block east of the basketball court and a block north of the football stadium. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and celebrated his 80th birthday by skydiving with his grandchildren. He followed up jumping out of an airplane by buying a Corvette the next year. He loved to tell everybody jokes and old stories about himself. Guy was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Mason and Edith Hively Mason; his grandparents Guy and Patti Hively; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Steve and Susie Blaco; brother-in-law Bill Lowry; and brother-in-law John Hamilton. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joyce Ann Mason; daughter Michelle Parrick and husband Wesley Parrick; daughter Melinda Wall and husband Brian Wall; grandson Kyle Marks and wife Yomyra “Kitty” Marks; granddaughter Christal Marks; great-grandchildren Jazmynn Marks, Ethan Guy Marks, and Sawyer Marks; sister-in-law Patricia Lowry; favorite niece Christy Murphy and family; nephew Justin Lowry and family; nephew Brady Blaco; nephew Andy Blaco and family; and half sister Nancy Sikes and family. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Okemah. Interment will follow at the Highland Cemetery also of Okemah with full military honors. Services will be under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home and officiated by Bro. Bobby Green. He passed away Thursday, January 25, 2024, at his home in Okemah at the age of 75. Dan graduated in 1969 from Bearded High School. He worked as a tree trimmer for Asplundh Tree Service. He enjoyed music, traveling, eating at get togethers and bowling. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eva and 4 brothers, James, Lonnie, Jeff and Larry Fisher. Survivors include one brother, Troy Fisher and wife Kelly of Okemah, Oklahoma: two sisters, Connie Harrison of Pine Bluff, Arkansas and Verna Watts of Muskogee, Oklahoma and numerous nieces and nephews. "Graveside services for Carolyn Landers will be Thursday, January 25, 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Highland Cemetery in Okemah with Rev. Mike Neal officiating. Carolyn was born June 24, 1946, in Holdenville, Oklahoma, the youngest of six daughters born to John Q. and Mary Alice (Hayes) Lankford. She passed away at her home surrounded by family on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at the age of 77, nine weeks after the loss of her husband. On July 29, 1963, Carolyn married Oscar R. Landers at the Okemah Pentecostal Church. Oscar and Carolyn were married for more than sixty years. Carolyn was a homemaker for most of those years, raising four children. Carolyn also ran a ceramic shop at their home for several years and after Oscar retired, they opened “Grandmother’s House of Crafts” in Okemah. There wasn’t much that Carolyn couldn’t do, helping her husband with cattle, gardening and any other project where he needed an extra hand or two. Carolyn was a master at cooking, canning, sewing and painting. She loved decorating and was very talented at numerous crafts. Carolyn passed her love of decorating and antiquing on to her daughters and granddaughters. She especially enjoyed decorating for fall and cooking a huge Thanksgiving meal for all her family. She is preceded in in death by her husband, parents, sisters, Joyce McDaniel, Wilma Cook and Maxine Higdon. Nephews, Carl Wayne McDaniel, Kenny McDaniel and Steve McDaniel. Carolyn is survived by her daughters, Cynthia and husband Tim Williams of Weleetka, Kimberly and husband David Bradshaw of Weleetka and Kristy and husband Johnny Lesley of Okemah and one son, Joe Landers of Okmulgee. Grandchildren, Chad and Elizabeth Williams, Cassie and Clint Earnest, Ty and Kersten Wallace, Linsey and Quinn Rogers, Cattie Lesley, Chris Lesley, Wyatt Landers, Josie Landers and Tyler Landers. Carolyn was also blessed with nine great-grandchildren with another one due in February. She is also survived by her sisters, Louise Tinkler, Lucille Walker, her lifelong friend, Sharon Jackson and special daughter Lindsey Landers. Serving as pallbearers will be Chad Williams, Ty Wallace, Clint Earnest, Quinn Rogers, Chris Lesley, Wyatt Landers and Tyler Landers. She passed away Friday, January 19, 2024, in Okemah at the age of 80. Earlene was a longtime resident of the Okfuskee County area. She graduated in 1961 from Weleetka High School. She worked as a co-teacher for Twin Rivers Head Start and a custodian for Okemah Public School for 20 years. She enjoyed working with wood and making crafts for people. She also liked working outside in her yard and the occasional trip to the casino. She loved her family and would do anything for them. She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Cecil “Sonny” Clarence Hooper: one sister, Annetta Hooper, one daughter, Denise Stone and one grandson, Billy Buck Bachus. Survivors include her two sons, Darrell Wood of Okemah, Oklahoma and Dirk and Emily Wood of Okemah, Oklahoma; three daughters, Darla Stevens of McAlester, Oklahoma, Debbie Killmer, and husband Steve of Weleetka, Oklahoma and Donna Madden and husband Mark of Holdenville, Oklahoma; one sister, Ruth Johnson of Eufaula, Oklahoma.; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Steve Killmer, Rhylin Stephens, Robert Stephens, Cody Stone, Thomas Simmon and Bart Winters."

Wanna Maxine Unterkircher Haydon was born September 13,1929 north of Okemah, Oklahoma to Robert “Bob” and Irene (Myers) Unterkircher. Maxine was a lifelong resident of Okfuskee County. She graduated Valedictorian in 1947 from Mason High School and later attended Oklahoma A\u0026amp;M. On September 24, 1949 she married Paul Hill Haydon in Haydonville, OK. Maxine and Paul lived on Haydon Farms. Working together, they improved the land, the pecan grove, and ran a cow calf operation. Maxine was active in the community and church throughout her life and will be dearly missed. Maxine is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul. Also preceding her in death were her parents, sisters, Nelda Ferguson and Roberta Irby; brother, Charles Unterkircher and great-grandson, William Joshua Peevy. Survivors include her daughters, Paula Haydon Garrett (Steve), and Susan Haydon Raybourn (Steve); sisters, Freda Wilson (Clifton) and Kay Adams (Bobby); sister-in-law, Judi Unterkircher; brother-in-law, Jim Irby; grandchildren, Stephanie Peevy (Sam), Cherie Martin (Tony), Haydon Raybourn, Anna Raybourn (Mike Jones) and great-grandchildren, Caymen, Harper, and Beckham Martin, Nicole Peevy, and Baby Jones expected in June.
