Opal Rhudy Obituary

Chilhowie, VA Opal Peake Rhudy, age 90, passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at her home in Chilhowie, VA. Opal was born in Marion, VA to the late Edward Peake and Pheobe Howell Peake and was preceded in death by her siblings, Rhoda Tolbert, Genevieve Dixon, Betty Short, Ford Peake and Douglas Peake. She graduated from Chilhowie High School in 1950 and was a member of the Chilhowie First Church of God. Along with her husband Bill they owned and operated Rhudy Appliance in Chilhowie. She enjoyed quilting, reading, cooking, and taking care of her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Bill Rhudy; children, Sandra Rhudy Harris, Andrew Rhudy and wife Julie; grandchildren, Jeremy Harris, Andrea Harris, Bonnie Rhudy Pierce and husband Tyler, Molly Rhudy; great grandchildren, Kiersten Taylor and husband Cody, Kelsey Harris, Marissa Harris; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 13, 2023, at the Chilhowie First Church of God with Pastor Bobby Dunn officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1:00-2:00 PM prior to services. Memorial contributions can be made to the Chilhowie First Church of God, PO Box 198 Chilhowie, VA 24319.
