"Onita Alexander, 57, of Beloit, WI, passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at Beloit Memorial Hospital. She was born on June 9, 1966 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of the late Jame Hamilton and Regina Alexander. Onita was the second youngest of 12 children. She was educated at John Farren Elementary School in Illinois. Onita had a loving spouse of 20 years, Catrell Payne. During her childhood she lived in Illinois and then moved to Beloit as an adult. Onita loved watching scary movies, listening to music, dancing, and playing and laughing with her family and friends. She was a loving and caring mother, spouse, and friend who was always thinking of others. Onita loved her family and grandchildren dearly. Onita leaves to cherish her loving memories, daughter, Precious Alexander; grandchildren, Lavarrianna, Malia, and Levar Johnson, Jai'Quise, Marquise, and Sa'Khyaa Thompson; siblings, Leroy Hicks, Lonnie Alexander, Regina Alexander, Vanessa Alexander, and Vincent Alexander; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was predeceased by her beloved heavenly daughter, Nadia Alexander and siblings, Larry Hick, Glenice Hick, Maryann Hick, Yuana Alexander, Jerry Alexander, and Wayne Alexander. "Terry L. Stavn, 77, of Beloit, WI, died on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at Beloit Memorial Hospital. He was born on February 10, 1946 in Janesville, WI, the son of Merwin and Leora (Bickel) Stavn. Terry was a Vietnam veteran serving with the U. S. Army in the 9th Infantry Division. He married Susan Finn on December 29, 1967 in the People's Church, Beloit, WI. Terry was formerly employed by Kerry Ingredients and Beatrice Foods. He was very generous, had a great sense of humor, and an excellent work ethic. Terry was athletic, coached church softball and taught Sunday School. He also loved working on cars, and could fix anything. Terry loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. His life was his family. Survivors include his wife, Susan Stavn; children, Adam (Elizabeth) Stavn, Jason (Jennifer) Stavn, Dana (Michael) Kinney, and Nathaniel (Amanda) Stavn; grandchildren, Morgan, Emma, Grace, William, Lauren, Jenson, Cohen, John Paul II, Katie, Jared and Alex; great grandchildren, Noah, John Paul III, Olivia, and Madeline; mother, Leora Stavn; siblings, Curt Stavn, Linda (Jim) Duller, Jim Stavn, Jeanne (Dan) Prueher, Joann (Doug) McGee, Cliff (Maggie) Stavn, Sara Stavn, Bill Stavn, and Bob (Julie) Stavn; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father. "It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Harry Wellnitz. Dad passed away at Rockhaven Nursing Home, where he has resided the past 2 1/2 years, after a long battle with dementia. Dad was born in 1926 and raised on the family farm in Bradford Township. He was the 9th child born to Mary (Reisenauer) and Bernard Wellnitz. It was there where he learned how to work hard and play hard. He served in the United States Army from 1946 to 1948, stationed in Alaska. After his discharge, he returned to Janesville and worked on his brother, Alfred's farm. From there, he worked as a herdsman for Dougan Dairy in Beloit. He also served as a volunteer firefighter for the Turtle Township Fire Department. He was later employed by Beloit Corporation where he retired after 34 years. In 1949, he met a pretty brunette with brown eyes at a dance at Waverly Beach Ballroom in Beloit. He and the former Inez Pipitone were married in 1951. Together they welcomed two daughters, Rosemarie (Gerry) Mueller and Annette (Terry) Fields. Dad was a devoted fan of the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, and Wisconsin Badgers. He enjoyed dancing, especially polkas and waltzes, fishing, playing euchre, golfing, and traveling. He was a former member of the Janesville Moose Club, Beloit and Janesville Senior centers. Dad was a charter member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, where he would regularly help setup for their Lenten Fish Fry's. Harry was a devoted grandfather to: Sarah (Christopher) Johnson, Mark Mueller, Rebecca (Tim) Daniels, Emily (Garien) Hudson, Tara (Craig) Christen, and TJ (Chelsea) Fields. A proud great-grandfather to: Alexis, Allison, Preston, Brady, Cameron, Jackson, Ty, Abigail, Austin, Harper, Lucy, and Harry. He is also survived by two sisters, Rosemary Pakes and Helen Sweeney. Dad was welcomed into heaven by his parents; his wife; infant son, Duwayne; son-in-law, Terry Fields; brothers, Alfred, Frank, Bernard Jr. , and Joseph; sisters, Cecilia Schneider, Johanna Cash, Catherine Scott, and Josephine Beilenberg. Harry's daughters would like to express their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the Rockhaven Nursing Home, Sandstone East staff for the wonderful care and support he received especially, Stephanie, Chris, Susie, and Lindsey. They would also like to thank Dr. Cheryl Miller, his Mercy Hospice team, and Sarah and Chris Johnson. "Catherine Ann Garstecki,73, of Beloit, WI, passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 in her home. She was born on December 17, 1949 in Beloit, WI, the daughter of Albert C. "Bud" and Delores K. (Challoner) Harris. Cathy was a 1968 graduate of Beloit Memorial High School. She married Thomas M. Garstecki on April 29, 1972 in Atonement Lutheran Church. Cathy began her working career as a Phlebotomist at Beloit Memorial Hospital. She then went to work for OSF St. Anthony's and while working she attended Rock Valley College School of Nursing where she received her RN degree. Cathy then returned to Beloit Memorial Hospital working in the GI Lab, retiring in 2011. Cathy was very involved in her children's lives. She was a member of the Brother Dutton School Board, Brother Dutton Athletic Board and was a Brownie Leader. She attended all her children's events and when Marcus started his coaching career you could find Cathy and Tom at all the games. Cathy was an avid reader and her luck in the casinos was unmatched. Cathy will be greatly missed by family and friends to include her loving husband of 51 years, Tom Garstecki of Beloit, WI; children, Renae Cruz of Gilbert, AZ, Marcus (Kacie) Garstecki of Aberdeen, SD, and Leigh Ann Garstecki of Omaha, NE; grandchildren, Jackson Garstecki and Isabella Cruz; sisters, Jody (Bill) Reetz and Chris Ruston both of Beloit, WI; sisters-in-law, Carol (Jim) Mullins of South Beloit, IL, Joan Kelsey and Nancy (Pat) Simon both of Hernando, FL; numerous nieces and nephews. "Mary Ellen Hayden, 98, of Beloit, WI, passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at Willowick Assisted Living in Janesville. She was born on April 3, 1925 in Beloit, WI, the daughter of Herbert and Gretchen (Zick) Oldenburg. Mary was a Beloit High School graduate. She married Eugene Hayden on December 8, 1945 in Beloit, WI. He predeceased her on July 14, 2004. Mary was a proud homemaker for her family. She was a member of the United Church of Beloit. Mary was an active member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #191. She enjoyed traveling everywhere, whether it was for Moose bowling tournaments or Eugene's work. Eugene treated her like a queen. She also enjoyed doing ceramics, crocheting, and reading. Mary was known for her wonderful homemade bread. Her family was the most important thing to her. Survivors include her children, Mary Jean (Jack) Hass of Evansville, WI, David (Virginia) Hayden of Eau Claire, WI, Shirley (Mike) Glass of Beloit, WI, and Gary (Kathleen) Hayden of Milton, WI; grandchildren, Ronald (Brooke), Shawn (Sara), Kyle (Karly), Douglas (Eva), Daniel (Laura), Tom (Melissa), and Jeff; great-grandchildren, Amiyah, John, Justin, Robert (Ashia), Joanna, Courtney (Adam) Nimz, Cody, Josh, Kaitlyn, Mitch, and Matthew; great-great-grandchildren, Atlas Nimz, Ryan, Olivia, Faye, Eli, and Knightly; brother, Walter (Pat) Oldenburg; and sister, Evelyn Propp. Mary was predeceased by her parents; husband; two brothers, Clarence and Lester Oldenburg; and grandson, Steve. "Lucile M. Smith of Beloit passed away on November 26, 2023, at the age of 92. Born on November 5, 1931 to Edward and Mabel (Lucas) Weiandt in Three Rivers, Michigan. Lucile spent most of her life with her family in Beloit. She graduated from Beloit High School in 1949 and attended Brown's College of Commerce. While working at Bort's in Beloit, a mutual friend introduced her to George Smith and they were married on September 10, 1955 at First Baptist Church in Beloit. Lucile enjoyed being a homemaker and raising her family, while being what her children referred to as a "professional volunteer". She was very active at First Baptist church for over 80 years, serving on many boards and committees, along with being a Sunday school teacher. Lucile also was Meals on Wheels coordinator for the church for 20 years, Voluntary Action Center volunteer, Beloit 4-H club leader, local AFS committee member, Girl Scout leader and PEO member. Lucile loved entertaining and hosting large family gatherings. Christmas was her favorite holiday and every room in her home was elaborately decorated. She was still hosting holidays and family birthdays at age 90. A close second to the love she had for her family was her love of chocolate and anything sweet. A box of Fannie May chocolates was always the perfect gift. George and Lucile created a loving home for their 3 children as well as a temporary haven for many special people throughout the years, including a special AFS student (Els), Lucile's mother (Mabel) and George's grandfather (Joe). Lucile is survived by her children, Pam Gribou, Kathy (Derek) van Veldhuisen, and Mark (Cindy) Smith; grandchildren, Tiffany, Clare, Julia, Grace, Nicole and Olivia; great-grandchildren, Kaya, Alana, Avery, Maxine, Mason, Alice and Leo; sister-in-law, Jean Beier; brother-in-law, Bill (Jody) Reetz; George's half-sister's, Sue Smith and LuAnne Peterson; nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her parents; husband; half-brother's, William and Willard Weiandt; other relatives and friends. Lucile enjoyed a full life. She will be missed dearly, but we're comforted knowing that she is reunited with her beloved husband, George and her lifelong friend, Una Shultz. Daniel Robert Charbonneau, 66, of Beloit, Wisconsin, passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin. Dan was born on March 31, 1957, in Cohoes, New York, the son of Leo "Hack" and Mildred A. "Midge" (Durocher) Charbonneau. He had previously been married to the former Linda Matz. After graduating from Cohoes High School in 1975, Dan enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served our country for eight years before being honorably discharged in 1983. Dan was employed as an electrician with IBEW Local 890. Dan was the master of inappropiate jokes. He could often be found spending time riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle or hanging out at his favorite watering hole, Capone's Bar in South Beloit, Illinois. Dan is survived by his daughter, Christine (Zachary) Neumann; granddaughters, Addison, and Harper; brother, Leo (Colleen) Charbonneau Jr; nephew, Casey Charbonneau. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Charbonneau; father and step-mother, Leo and Shirley Charbonneau Sr; brother, Christopher Charbonneau; and nephews, TJ Charbonneau, and Jeremy Charbonneau.
