Ondina (nee Mardero) Bravo Ondina passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 7th, 2023. She will be lovingly remembered by Bruno, her dear husband of 57 years, by her daughters Christina (Jim) and Patricia (Spencer), and by her nine grandchildren: Sam, Ben, Rachel, Daniel, Grace, Graeme, Robin, Owen, and Geoffrey. Ondina was the beloved sister of Eric (Patty), a caring Zia to many nieces and nephews, and the cherished daughter of the late Olga and Renzo Mardero. Ondina was a loyal and devoted wife to her adoring husband and a warm and caring friend, held dear to so many. Sweet, kind, gentle, and loving, Ondina was truly the mother everyone wishes they had. She was our biggest cheerleader, enthusiastically celebrating our joys and compassionately sharing in our sorrows. Nina's happiest times were spent in the company of her adoring grandchildren, whom she treasured. Ondina lavished affection, deep friendship, and relentless hospitality upon anyone lucky enough to meet her. We will forever miss our beautiful Nina. May she rest in peace, free from pain, and joyful in the arms of our Lord. Our family would like to express our deepest gratitude to her lifelong friends who so generously and lovingly helped care for her during her long and difficult hospital stay. As well, we would like to thank the wonderful nurses and physicians at Health Sciences North for their kindness, compassion, and excellent care. Resting at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch Street, Sudbury (Friends may call from 2-4pm and 6-8pm, Sunday, September 17, 2023, with Parish Prayers at 3pm). Johannis Kruithof

Age - 80

Obituary for Johannis "Hans" Kruithof Hans (Senior), passed away, peacefully, at HSN, Greater Sudbury, on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at the age of 80. He had been in hospital for 4 days due to a stroke when he experienced a major heart attack. Fortunately, he did not suffer long and took his last breath only hours later, with family by his side. We believe he is happy with how he left this planet. Born in the The Netherlands, he came to Canada with his parents and siblings at the age of eight. His family settled and expanded in Cochrane, ON. Having worked on the farm since childhood, Hans left at the young age of 16 to make it on his own. He worked in many parts of the country doing various jobs, but his main employer was INCO (now Vale) where he worked for over 20 years as a Diamond Driller. In this position, he travelled to many remote places in Canada and even spent 6 months in Brazil. Almost 40 years ago, he retired on disability after a workplace accident left him with five pins in his foot and wire throughout his ankle. The doctors told him he would probably not be able to walk after age 60 but he took pride in the fact that he was mobile 20 years longer than predicted. Hans reached milestones that were important to him. He never thought he would get to turn 80 but did that earlier this year. He also looked forward to becoming a great-grandfather which occurred on July 6, 2021. He had no desire to travel anywhere else but did say he wanted to meet an alien. His presence and sense of humor will be greatly missed. He is predeceased by his wife, Cheryl Kruithof (2011); parents, John Kruithof (1989) and Johanna Kruithof (1997); brother Willy Kruithof (Kim)(1994); sister, Lena Van Ballegooie (2021) and grand daughter Amanda Mark (2018). Left to grieve are his daughter, Carrie Alexander of Greater Sudbury; son, Hans Kruithof, Junior (wife Paula) of Innisfil; brother John Kruithof (Kawsar) of Ottawa ; brother Harry Kruithof (Nina) of Cochrane, brother Garry Kruithof (Dianne) of Larder lake, and little sister, Cora Brown of Kapuskasing; grandchildren, Crystal Kruithof (Calgary); Andrew Mark (Greater Sudbury); Owen and Hudson Kruithof (Innisfil) and great grandchild Jovanni "Jovi" Labelle (Greater Sudbury). In keeping with his wishes, there will be no funeral service. A celebration of life may be planned at a later date. In his memory, please carry out a random act of kindness - he would love that.
