Nour Maalouf Haddad, 93, passed away Tuesday, October 3, 2023. Nour was born on July 20, 1930 in Beirut, Lebanon. Her family recently discovered documentation showing she was actually born in 1925, officially making her 98 years of age. She worked many years as a Personal Secretary in the French Embassy, and while the well known General Charles de Gaulle, was visiting Syria, Nour was chosen to play the piano for the General's reception. She played "La Marseillaise", the French National Anthem and some other pieces in his honor. She lived in Syria, Libya, and Lebanon before moving to the United States. After arriving in New York for a couple of weeks, Nour moved to Oklahoma City, OK, and hired on at McDonald's so she could truly get a taste of "The American Experience. " She ultimately moved to Wichita, KS to be closer to her grandchildren and worked at McConnell AFB, making French pastries for all the military personnel. She will be greatly missed. Nour was preceded in death by her husband, Antoine Haddad; daughter, Randa Stevens; brothers, Anwar Maalouf and Adel Maalouf; sisters, Yvonne Rahwan, Audette Maalouf, Souad Karim, and Nawranse Hage. Survivors include her children, Walid Haddad (Dawn), Mimi Wakim (Dr. Tony), and George Hadid (Cris); grandchildren, Deeb Haddad (Chelsea), Nora Haddad, Renne Haddad, Dr. Theodora Kambiotis (Pandlis), Natalie Salloum (Steven), Gabriel Stevens (Allana), Dr. Lily Wakim, Dr. Joey Wakim, Dr. Andre Wakim (Dr. Jennifer), and Alex Wakim; and 13 great-grandchildren.
