Marylu Stacy

Marylu Stacy

Age - 87

November 17, 2023

Marylu Stacy met the end of her earthly life early Sunday (Nov. 12) morning. One friend noted her heart couldn't keep up with her spirit. She was born October 13, 1936 in Mansfield, Ohio to the late William and Marie Warner (Beer). Her father's birth name was Winegartner. She has many cousins among the Winegartners and Beers in the Mansfield area. Memorial Day weekend, 1956 she was one of three Pi Beta Phi sisters at Ohio Wesleyan University invited to spend the holiday in the home in Tiffin of Dorothy Stacy. At the dinner table that evening she met the love of her life, Eugene C. Stacy (Gene). Romance blossomed into love and they were married June 13, 1958. Survivors are husband Gene, her brother, William Warner, Jr. and sister, Linda E. Bunyan, her three children, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. The marriage produced three sons, Eric Allen, 64 (Laura LeGendre), Steven Eugene, 62 (Julie Burnett, deceased), and Daniel Cody, 56 (Angela Sanderson). Grandchildren: Jared Daniel (Kaylynn Ross), Kyle Wayne (Amanda Wilcox), Evan Neal, Sara Lauraine, Lauren Marie (Eric Almdale), Jacob Cody, and Lucas Ray. Great grandchildren: Helena Elise Stacy, Evelyn Rose Stacy, Maya Willow Stacy, Lucy Rae Almdale, Samuel James Almdale, and Henry Reid Almdale. Marylu graduated in the 1954 class of Madison High School. She was enthusiastic about music and studied piano. She earned several piano awards of which she was very proud that would have permitted her admission to top conservatories. She is a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University, class of 1958 with a major in English literature. She studied education at Colorado University and completed her student teaching. She also studied accounting at Tiffin University. Raising three sons and caring for the household occupied her for many years. When her youngest was old enough to be responsible she found part-time employment at United Way of Tiffin. That eventually turned into a full-time job. She served as secretary/office manager for a total of 15 years. After leaving The United Way she was invited to fill the office manager position at the Lange Law Office. She served the firm for many years through the coming and going of several law partners. She retired at the age of 80 from the firm in its present form, Lange, Gordon, Rannigan and Clous, LLC. Marylu lived an active lifestyle and was devoted to physical fitness. Most mornings you would find her running or taking an exercise class at the YMCA. During the blizzard of 1978, when most people wouldn't consider leaving their homes, Marylu decided to put on her cross-country skis and made her way to work! She and Gene particularly enjoyed bicycling and took many week-long bicycle tours at destinations around the world. These trips were to eight different states, including Alaska, three trips in Canada, Ireland, Scotland, Italy, and France. Plus there was a sailing trip from Rockport, Me. and a two-week year 2000 trip to see the passion play at Oberammergau. In 1975/76 Marylu was a host mother to Carlos Sarassa, an exchange student from Colombia. In 2010 she and Gene visited Carlos and his family in Medellin where he is an orthopedic surgeon. In July, 2012 Carlos and his family paid a return visit. During her years in Tiffin Marylu met many people and made many friends. She was a devoted member of Old Trinity Episcopal Church where she served numerous years as Treasurer. She was a member of the Penthouse Club and attended and served regularly. For several years she met with her Dinner Bridge playing group. She and Gene attended concerts of the Cleveland Orchestra at Severance Hall for many years. A memorial service will be Friday, Dec. 8 at 10:00 a. m. at Old Trinity Episcopal Church. The Rev. Aaron Gerlach attending. Hospitality at the Ironwood Steakhouse will follow. Memorials may be made to the Tiffin Community Kitchen in care of Old Trinity Episcopal Church. Make checks payable to the church with a notation for the Community Kitchen.
