Norman N. Neely, 92, of Silvis passed away October 4, 2023 at his home. Funeral services will be 12 noon Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at Silvis United Methodist Church with visitation from 10:30am until service time. Burial will follow at Moline Memorial Park Cemetery. Schroder Mortuary in Silvis is assisting with arrangements. Norman was born January 14, 1931 in Stahl, Missouri the son of Everett and H. Grace Clifton Neely. He graduated from Adair County High School in Novinger, MO. Norman married Frances "Jean" Griffith July 26, 1953 in Silvis. She passed away December 10, 2021. Norman worked for the railroad from 1949-1967 during which he served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He then worked for Rock Island County as a zoning and building Administrator, retiring in 1993. After retirement Norman worked for FEMA for 13 years. He was a member of Silvis United Methodist Church where he was active in the men’s group. He was a Carbon Cliff Barstow school board member for several years, a member of Silvis Seniors, a member of the Korean War Vets, a lifelong member of the East Moline VFW, and served as secretary for Illinois Korean War Veteran’s Association. Norman enjoyed carpentry and woodworking, cooking, wine making, his horses, gardening, and fishing. After retirement he enjoyed traveling and wintering in Texas. He was a great storyteller and loved singing to his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed plowing snow in the winter. Survivors include his children Joann E. (Lynn) Woodard, Norma J. Neely (Steve Brown), Katherine (Byron) Wetzel, and Norman B. (Wendy) Neely; grandchildren Hannah (David Cross) Woodard, Nikki (Devin Winegardner) Woodard, Cherise Wetzel, Amie Jean Wetzel, Jarret Wetzel, Chelsea (Chase) Geigle, and Megan Neely; great grandchildren Layla Cserepes, Tate Burrow, Tucker Burrow, Ruth Frances Neely, Rowan Geigle, and Cecilia Geigle; sister Imogene Bell of Novinger, MO and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 2 brothers and 5 sisters.

On December 2, 2023, Donna Ellen McCaulley, at the age of 64 was welcomed home by her Savior. Donna was diagnosed with stage four ovarian cancer on October 20, 2021 and battled courageously and graciously for just over two years. During that time, she vowed to choose Joy on her journey, all the while looking for ways to make an impact in the lives of others. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00PM Friday, with a service to follow at 7:00PM at Pleasant View Baptist Church in Bettendorf. Donna was born November 15, 1959 to Philip and Carol (Cubberley) Ashworth in Trenton, New Jersey. Growing up, she spent many summers with her two sisters on their family boat in Barneget Bay and worked as a candy striper at Hamilton Hospital. She married Dale McCaulley, August 15, 1978. Dale and Donna were married for 45 years and had four children, two boys and two girls with a family motto of "four and no more. " Dale and Donna spent their lives in ministry where she served in various different ministries from a from a Christian camp, to church ministries and most recently in the mission’s field, with the Timothy Initiative. Along the way, Donna also worked in the automotive industry for several years as an office manager, where she was able to build lifelong friendships that she cherished dearly. Her most favorite pastime was spending time with her family and making memories with her 12 grandchildren. Donna is survived by her husband, Dale, four children, Glenn (Rachael) McCaulley, Sarah (Andrew) Reuter, Anna (Matthew) Sherman, Stephen (Julie) McCaulley, 12 grandchildren- Taylor, Lauren, Bailey, Xzavier, Dominic, Kay-Leigh, Madelyn, Carter, Caleb, Kiley, Micah, and Kelcey. She is survived by her parents, Philip and Carol Ashworth, and her two sisters; Carol (Harold) Summers and Lisa (Conrad) Pelletier. Donna lived her life with a passion to share the good news of the gospel of Christ to every people, in every place. Donna Jo Hamburg, 99, of Silvis, passed away, November 22, 2023, at Illini Restorative Care in Silvis. Per Donna's wishes, there will be no services held. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Donna was born on July 8, 1924, in New Windsor, IL, the daughter of Gertrude McFarlin and Glen Tornquist. She married Wayne Hamburg on January 4, 1946, in Bangor, Maine. She worked for the Rock Island Library for 16 years. Donna was always a very kind person; she'd give hugs to everyone. She enjoyed being a mother and grandmother as she adored children. She was a devoted wife to her husband and a great friend to her daughter. She enjoyed music, dancing, reading, and traveling. Donna was sweet, friendly, a wonderful mother, and overall, very loving. Survivors include her daughter Susan (Joseph) VanVooren; granddaughter Jane (Arturo) Villagomez; grandsons James (Shuron) Hamburg and Timothy Hamburg; great-grandchildren Jackson and Julia Rogers, Zarita, Laureli and Nathan Villagomez, Tanner, Jacob, and Treavor Hamburg, and Eboni and Raymond Evans; sister-in-law Donna Tornquist; special friends Donna Arvanis and Sue Swartz; and many nieces and nephews. Morris Arthur (Bud) Summers, 87, of Silvis, IL, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by immediate family on November 18, 2023. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a. m. on Thursday, November 30, 2023, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 3209 60th St, Moline, IL 61265. The Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a. m. with burial at Moline Memorial Park's Niches directly afterwards. Bud was born on December 4, 1935, in Beardstown, IL, the only child of Mae (Sapp) and Clarence Summers. He graduated from Wilmington HS in 1953 and later earned an associate degree at Joliet Junior College. He married Kathryn Owens on December 8, 1956, at Assumption Church, Coal City, IL where they made their home and raised three daughters. Bud worked for the US Army for 35 years, beginning his employment at OAC, Joliet in 1956. The family moved to Eldridge, IA in 1973 when his job transferred to Rock Island Arsenal where Bud served as the chief of the national inventory control point, retiring in 1991. As the only Cardinals fan in a family of Cubs supporters, Bud loved baseball and especially attending spring training camps. He was an experienced outdoorsman who loved spending time in nature. Bud enjoyed Nascar, fishing, golf and bowling. Survivors include Kathryn, his devoted and loving wife of 66 years; daughter Kim and son-in-law Vincent O'Brien of Mablethorpe England; daughter Karen Summers of Whiting, NJ; son-in-law Michael Day of Coal Valley, IL; and sister-in-law Nancy Owens of Palatine, IL. Lucille "JoAnn" Maddox, 90, of East Moline, passed away Friday November 17, 2023, at New Perspectives in Silvis. Funeral services will be held at 11 a. m. Wednesday November 22, 2023, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. , Moline. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. The burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to Christian Friendliness or the Midwest affiliate of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. JoAnn was born on April 30, 1933, in Moline, IL, the daughter of Leonard and Mary Emma (Spolar) Miles. She married James E. Maddox on June 19, 1951, at Memorial Christian Church in Rock Island. He preceded her in death on September 22, 2008. JoAnn volunteered with F. I. S. H Inc. of Moline from the mid-1970s to early 1980's, helping coordinate transportation, the monthly newsletter and calendar, and served on the board. She was active with the Quad Cities Christian Women's Club, Moline Luncheon Group and Stonecroft Ministries Friendship Bible Coffees Prayer Advisor. JoAnn also served on the Executive Committee as Telephone Chairman and later as Prayer Advisor. Later in life, JoAnn enjoyed monthly Bible Studies with her CWC friends. After moving to New Perspective Living, JoAnn was able to encourage the start-up of a new evening non-denominational Bible study which she enjoyed attending. Marilyn Mae Belowske was born May 10, 1930, in Moline, to Fred and Ranilda (Moens) Belowske. On May 19, 1952, Marilyn exchanged vows with the love of her life, John Martin Resetich, in Moline, Illinois. Their union was a testament to a lifelong love story that embraced the joys and challenges of marriage for over seven decades. To Marilyn, the glass was always half full, and she approached life with an eternal optimism that inspired everyone around her. Marilyn held a special place in her heart for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, showering them with love and creating lasting memories. Marilyn and John shared a love of music, with Marilyn showcasing her talent on the keyboard and lending her voice to their polka band. Their shared love for music became a beautiful expression of their connection and brought joy to those who had the pleasure of listening. Traveling was another adventure Marilyn and John embraced together. They explored the world, creating unforgettable memories, and on a couple of occasions, ventured to Russia and Slovenia to visit family. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, Silvis. Charley was born on November 1, 1939, in Spurgeon, Indiana, the son of Clyde and Lou E. Thompson Fowler. He married his childhood sweetheart and the true love of his life, Ruth Ann Mason on August 22, 1959, in Spurgeon Indiana. Charley was employed as a Senior Designer in Product Engineering with John Deere. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Silvis. Charley was a member of the Cornbelt Running Club, he loved running, biking, and helping his family. His greatest passion in life was telling everyone he met about the good news of Jesus Christ.
