"ROTTERDAM - Norman E. Martin, 93, formerly of Delmar Avenue, passed away on September 9th, 2023 at Kingsway Arms Nursing Center after a short illness. Born in North Adams, MA to George Martin and Sarah Turner, Norman and his family moved to Schenectady in 1943. Norman held many jobs over the course of his life. He was a paper carrier for the Schenectady Gazette, delivered produce, ran hayrides at the old Rudd's beach, and worked in the kitchen at Ellis Hospital with his father. He also spent some time working as a carpenter and mechanic. Norman enlisted in the Army in June 1947 and spent 2 years overseas in Japan. He was the recipient of both a World War II Victory Medal and an Occupation of Japan Medal; he was honorably discharged in January 1949. Upon discharge, Norman returned to his home on Strong St. in Schenectady. He worked as a mechanic for a few years, before being hired at General Electric in 1951. There he started as a truck driver and retired as a crane operator 44 years later. While working at GE, his good friend Thomas Pochilly, introduced him to Marie Delory. Norman and Marie married on November 28th, 1970. They were married 40 years prior to her passing in April 2010. Norman had a great love of family, whether the time was spent working on some kind of project or hanging out for family dinners, he was the happiest when he was busy and surrounded by family. When he wasn't working on a project or visiting, Norman enjoyed watching the New York Yankees, John Wayne movies (he proudly owned every movie on VHS), wrestling, and absolutely anything on TCM. He also enjoyed singing; a favorite pastime from his childhood, when he and his siblings spent time together as a family singing hymns. In addition to his parents and wife, Norman was predeceased by his son, David Martin, and his siblings; Leon (Kathleen) Martin, Edward (Monica) Martin, Sylvia (Gene) Brooks, Marion (Byron) Watson, Bernard Martin, and Beverly French. Norman is survived by his children, Norman (Sandra) Martin Jr, and Tanya (Pat) Buono, grandchildren Robert Martin, Tina Patterson, Serena Aldi, and Nicholas Martin, 12 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Joan Martin, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Services will be held on Thursday at 9 a. m. from the Rossi \u0026amp; Ditoro Funeral Home, 501 Union Street, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a. m. at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Princetown Road. Interment will follow in Sts. Cyril \u0026amp; Method Cemetery, Rotterdam. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi \u0026amp; Ditoro Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5-7 p. m. Dolores R. Fonda, 91, of Rotterdam, passed away on December 1, 2023, at Kingsway Arms Nursing Home in Schenectady. Born in Schenectady on March 14, 1932, Dolores is the daughter of the late Paul and Ruth (Johnson) Arbour. Dolores sang beautifully and as a child was a weekly soloist on the radio show, The Children's Hour. A graduate of Draper High School, she was a cheerleader and loved music, dancing and roller skating. She played the piano and organ. As a teen, she was a contestant in the Miss Jones Beach beauty contest. Married for 50 years, Dolores was the beloved wife of Donald H Fonda who passed away in 2000. Dolores was also predeceased by her brother, Ronald Arbour. Dolores, who will always be cherished by her family, is survived by her daughter Linda Diago, son Richard Fonda(Carol), grandchildren, Lisa Henderson(Perry), Kate Diago(Julia), Michael Diago(Zoraida), Kristen Cuerdon(James), Erin SanFilippo(Israel) and her eight great-grandchildren Perry, Jacob and Benjamin Henderson, Marcel and Naeem Diago, Paloma Diago Holmes, and Ian and Noah SanFilippo. Dolores is also survived by her sister Ruth Menia and several nieces and nephews. Dolores devoted her life to making her home a haven of comfort and beauty for her family and was an extremely talented seamstress and quilter. She was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church in Schenectady where she was a deaconess. In retirement, she and Don achieved their goal of visiting all 48 contiguous states in an RV and also traveled to Hawaii and Europe. Dolores will be remembered for her loving and vivacious personality. Funeral services for Dolores will be held on Saturday December 9, 2023 at 10:00am at First Presbyterian Church, 209 Union Street, Schenectady. GUILDERLAND- Philip Charles Livingston, 81, passed away, Thursday, November 30, 2023 at the McClellan Street Health Center after a long illness. Born June 2, 1942 in Woburn, MA, son of the late Philip T. and Louise (Suhr) Livingston, Philip graduated from Newton High School and attended the University of Massachusetts and graduated with a BA in Geography from the University of Washington, Seattle. He worked as a statistician for the Washington State Dept. of Public Assistance in Olympia, Washington; as an editor in chief of the NYS mapping series at NYSDT; as a space planner; with H&R Block as a tax preparer and instructor and later for himself as an independent tax preparer. Phil enjoyed foreign travel, demographics and was a WMHT TV auction volunteer and trainer. He was a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan. Philip was a communicant of St. Madeleine Sophie Catholic Church and member of the choir and the faith sharing group as well as a cantor and reader. He was a member of the League of Women Voters where he participated as a poll reporter, meet the candidates' nights and global studies; the Siena Opera Club, Opera Saratoga, Interfaith Schenectady, S. W. Pitts Latham volunteer fireman and Latham Circle Squares, in which he was vice president. With his wife Janice he vacationed in the Caribbean, Alaska, Canada, Holland, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Germany, , Hawaii, China, Estonia, Poland, Israel, Austria, New Zealand, Tasmania, Australia, Switzerland, Austria, Russia, Tahiti, Norway, Bulgaria, Croatia, Serbia, Romania, Mexico, Italy, Prague, Ireland, Japan, Scotland, Normandy, Paris and London. Philip is survived by his wife Janice Kofoid Livingston; son Robert Livingston; daughter Diane L. Virmala; his sisters Alice Bland and Elizabeth Amico. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. "GLENVILLE - RoseMarie Bacchi, 86, passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2023, at Ellis Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. RoseMarie was born in Scranton, PA, and raised in Schenectady. She was the daughter of the late Anthony and Della Cimino Bianco, Sr. RoseMarie was a 1955 graduate of Nott Terrace High School and worked locally as a seamstress and at The Imperial. She retired as a school monitor from the Scotia-Glenville High School after 20 years of service, where she was well respected and adored by her students. RoseMarie was a kind, giving, and caring woman. She volunteered many years as a Brownie, and Girl Scout Troop Leader; and was a member of the Home Bureau and the Red Hat Society; in addition, she was an avid trout fisherwoman. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 61 years, Michael D. Bacchi, and her sisters, Virginia Shafer and Stephanie Vigilone. RoseMarie is survived by her devoted and loving family; children, Theresa (Wayne) Wright and Michael (Desiree) Bacchi, Sr. ; grandchildren, Joseph (Courtney) Marro, II, Jennifer (Daniel) Lieber, Brian Wright, Stephanie (Emily) Wright, Michael Bacchi, Jr. , Skyler Bacchi and Logan Bacchi; great-grandchildren, Alexander and Christopher Lieber; brother, Anthony (Sharon) Bianco; sister-in-law, Janet Lake and many nieces and nephews. Schenectady-Mary DeMania 96, born on April 30, 1927 passed away peacefully at Albany Medical Center after a brief illness on November 27, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. Born and raised in Schenectady, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Filomena Davi. She was the wife of the late Albert DeMania and predeceased by her son Ricky DeMania. She was predeceased by her brother Gabriel Davi (Carmelinda) of Schenectady, and her sister Rose Fledderman (Ronald) of Texas. Survived by her siblings, Louise Sikorski (Michael) of Schenectady, Salvatore Davi (Joan), and Pauline Davi of Rotterdam. Survivors include her daughter Diana Taylor of Schenectady, her son Alan DeMania (Jean) of Niskayuna, and her daughter Janet DeMania of Rotterdam, 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Mary celebrated her catholic faith and was a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. She donated her time and generosity to OLMC and NDBG in various ways while her children attended both of these catholic schools. She was a loving mother and homemaker and cherished spending time with her family and friends. She worked for General Electric and Campbell Plastics until retirement at age 70. "ROTTERDAM - Carol A. Singh, 65, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Monday, November 27, 2023. Carol was born in Ballston Spa on January 12, 1958, the daughter of the late Alfred and Margaret Fischbach Hoyt. She graduated from Galway Central High School, class of 1976. Carol began her established and lengthy career with the Golub Corporation in 1982. She retired in April of 2023 as a Labor Analyst, after 40 years of dedicated service. She made many lifelong friends in her work career and was respected for her dedication to her job and helping her co-workers. To those who had the pleasure of knowing her, Carol was a very humble woman who lived life to its fullest in every aspect. Carol channeled her creativity into designing jewelry and scrapbooking in her free time. She enjoyed reading, tending to her flower and vegetable gardens, camping, and attending craft fairs. She loved the holidays, especially Christmas, when she baked many varieties of her special cookies. Carol was an independent and devoted woman, who cherished her family dearly. She was predeceased by her parents, Alfred Hoyt, Margaret Hoyt Boedecker, and James Boedecker. Carol is survived by her loving family; her daughters, Tiffany (Robert) Jewett and Becky (AJ) Indovina; grandchildren, Darren, Kendell, and RJ; siblings, Kathy Boedecker and Jamie Boedecker; and her four paw buddies, sister cats, Talula and Stormy. "GLENVILLE - Stephen J. Tannatta, 54, loving son, father, brother, uncle, and friend to many passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2023. Stephen was born in Niskayuna, the son of Raymond and Linda Santorelli Tannatta. He graduated from Niskayuna High School and received his Associate\u0027s Degree from Rockland Community College in Nyack, NY. Stephen was an EMT and paramedic before changing careers, attending SCCC, and earning an Associate's Degree in Drug and Addiction Counseling. From that time on, he worked as a counselor to those in need and suffering from addiction. He worked for many years counseling individuals at Conifer Park, St. Peter's, and most recently at St. Mary's in Amsterdam. He was a dedicated and compassionate counselor who touched the lives of many. He also worked as a part-time employee at Lowes. Stephen was a man of service, always willing to help anyone in need. He loved spending time with his family and was a wonderful caregiver for his grandparents. He was a gentle soul with a love for travel, golf, strumming his guitar, cooking, and his NY Yankees. Stephen is survived by his devoted parents, Ray and Linda Tannatta; loving sister Stacey (Edward Fay) Phillips; nephews and niece, Sean Phillips, Craig (Mahi) Phillips, Emily (Brendan) Phillips Krol, and Jake Phillips; his best friend and fur baby, Stella; daughters, Samantha and Sophia Tannatta; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
