He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Weider, his parents, Charles and Ruth Weider, and his brother, James Weider. Howard was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. S Army from 1961-1964 and was stationed in Germany for part of this time. He worked for over 30 years at the A. Shulman factory in Fremont, Ohio, retiring in 2005. Once retired, he enjoyed traveling with his wife and taking road trips to visit his son and his family in Pennsylvania. After the death of his wife, Howard left Ohio, the place he had lived his entire life, to move closer to his son and his family in Pennsylvania. Over the past 7 years, he enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow up, often taking them to parks, and spending quality time with his son's family. Howard lived a full and happy life devoted to God. He belonged to various Christian churches throughout his life and was a devoted Bible reader. He volunteered as a basketball coach for 38 years with the Bellevue Immaculate Conception Church CYO program. Upon retirement, the Church established "The Howie" award in his honor. He was inspired to write his own Christian books as part of his ministry, publishing multiple books with the help of his close friend and fellow church-member, Vaughn Jennings. A three-time cancer survivor, Howard never let his health change his positive and carefree outlook on life. He made it a priority to donate what he could to a number of charities. In the spirit of Howard's generosity, we ask that in lieu of flowers for donations to be made to Food For The Poor or the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
