Jerry William Flowers, Sr. was born in Brundidge, Alabama on February 10, 1938 to Cephus and Argie Flowers. He grew up as the youngest of five children. He graduated high school in 1956 from Toccoa Falls Christian Academy. At the age of 17, Pastor John Rigby led him to his decision to accept Jesus Christ as his personal savior. After graduation, he enrolled at Howard College, now Samford University, where he later earned his Bachelor of Science degree. During college he worked in the trucking industry to pay for 100% of his education. While at Howard, he met the love of his life, Betty Jo Turrittin who he married three years later. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this past June. Jerry and Betty Jo had a wonderful marriage full of faith and family. Jerry's love for Betty Jo was very obvious. He always made it clear that he had married up and he was crazy in love with his wife. He was a hard working man, working 20 years in management in the trucking industry and then went with State Farm in 1979 as an Agent and then as an Agency Manager in 1982. Throughout his career, he provided for his family and gave generously to those in need. Generosity was one of his greatest traits, monetarily but also in sharing his faith in Christ with others. You would commonly hear him asking a waiter at a restaurant or even his doctors if they knew Jesus. He served several years with Campus Crusade for Christ on their Associate Lay Staff He cared about where others would spend eternity. He was bold in his faith and his love for others. Jerry loved his family dearly and cherished his roles as husband, Daddy, Granddaddy and Great-Granddaddy. He is survived by his loving wife Betty Jo Turrittin Flowers, by his children, son Jerry (Karen) Flowers, and daughter Sharon Flowers. by grandchildren Chase Flowers, Julie (Zach) Miller, Jamie (Caleb) Terry.
