Nicholas Richard Moga 1962-2023 Born to Richard and Dorothea (Hagle McGuire) Moga on November 25, 1962 in Northfield, Minnesota. Passed away August 14, 2023 in Robbinsdale, Minnesota, following a short hospitalization. Survived by his mother, Dorothea, sisters Mary (Phill Lindsay), Jean Dorland (Tony), and brother Tom (Lynn); nephews John Moga (Sara) and their children, Brian Moga, Eric Dorland (Anastasia Dulski), niece Hannah Grossman and her child; aunts Toni Bernard, Rose McGuire, Barbara McGuire, Margaret Hagle, Deanna Schotzko; uncle Bill Moga; and many loving cousins. Preceded in death by his father, Richard, grandparents Raymond and Mary (Olchefske) Moga and Alice (Kaercher McGuire) Bernard, as well as uncles Dean Hagle, James Hagle, Charles McGuire, Michael McGuire, John Bernard, John Hennen, and aunts Judith (Suek) Hagle, Jo'an (Hagle) Hennen and Marly Moga. Nick was a singularly elemental person. Nick did not speak, but vocalized all of his life, and communicated his needs, wants, dislikes, loves, and glee in his own inimitable way. As a toddler, Nick loved dirt. He loved it so much that he ate it, and his pediatrician told mom, "a kid needs to eat a peck of dirt to be healthy!". Somewhere there is a picture of Nick sitting in the dirt, looking up at the camera, smiling with dirt-encrusted lips. He loved water, spending hours at the kitchen sink, watching the water pouring over his fingers. He loved lakes, and the motion of waves. He loved air, catching the wind on his tounge when he was little, vocalizing 'ah, ah, ah, no, no, no' pushing his wagon down the neighbor's hill. He loved flying with Dad in the Cessna, high in the air, free. He loved fire, and especially campfires. He couldn't go camping in his final years, and a wonderful way to remember him would be to go camping and think of him while you enjoy a big bonfire. And Nick loved to move. We called it 'swinging', a whole-body sway from side-to-side, his head turning as gracefully as a ballet dancer's. He would do this for hours, never getting dizzy. Nick never spoke with any of us. He showed his love with his smiles. Celebration of Life on Thursday, September 7, 2023 from 4:00-7:00 p. m. at Gill Brothers Funeral Chapel, New Hope. May, Dorothy Ann, Age 95, of Ely (formerly of Robbinsdale) passed away on November 24, 2023. Preceded in death by husband Don. She grew up on a farm and went to high school in Kimball. She moved to Minneapolis after high school. She met Don May when she would go back home to visit in the Kimball-Watkins area. She married Don May on July 14, 1951, at St. Stephen's Church in Minneapolis. Dorothy and Don moved to their first house in Crystal and then built a new house in Robbinsdale around the time of the birth of their first daughter Doriann in 1956. They welcomed son, Perry in 1958 and daughter, Cathy in 1961. They resided in their Robbinsdale house for 45 years. They were members of St. Raphael's Catholic Church for many years. Dorothy's primary hobbies, in later years, were puzzles and bingo and she loved polka music. She would watch a full day of polka on local Ely TV on Saturdays. She very much loved and enjoyed seeing her grandchildren & great-grandchildren. In spring 2021, Dorothy's health took a turn which prompted the family to explore other living arrangements. A decision was made to move her closer to her grand-daughters and great-grandchildren in Ely MN into a small, family-focused senior care facility Carefree Living. The small environment was wonderful for Dorothy where the staff were very loving & attentive, the residents wonderfully accepted her and she made many new friends. It also did not hurt to have a live polka band play once a month. Our deepest appreciation goes to the Carefree Living Ely and Essentia Hospice staff for their loving attention and care.
