Nellie Carter Obituary

Nellie Mae Carter, 95, of Ooltewah, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 22, 2023. Nellie was born on January 24, 1928 to the late Leonard and Ethel Robinson. She was preceded in death by her husband, William T. Carter, 4 brothers, 3 sisters and 1 grandson. She was a long-time member of Spring Creek Church of God. Nellie was known for her amazing cooking, especially her pies. She worked for the Kreme House in Ooltewah for many years and then later was the owner of Nell and Peg's Kitchen of Georgetown. Nellie loved the Lord and her family with all that she had. She loved to sing and loved flowers. She will be greatly missed. Survivors include her children, Tommy (Mary Jo) Carter, Sue Passmore, Peggy (Ronnie) Bryant, Teresa (Terry) Day, 16 grandchildren, 22 great- grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p. m. to 7:00 p. m. on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 in the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p. m. in the chapel on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 in the funeral home with Rev. Benny Mills and grandson, Sam McNelley officiating.
