The family of Neil Gilles of Westfield, WI is saddened to announce his passing on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at the age of 81. Neil was born on August 5, 1941 in Longwood, WI to Lloyd and Marion (Bateman) Gilles. He grew up on a farm with his parents and three brothers in Cadott, WI. At the age of 18, he moved to West Bend, WI to work at the Gehl factory, where he met the love of his life, Judy Koth, who would become his cherished wife for an astounding 62 years. In 1963, Neil leased and operated a Clark gas station in Menomonee Falls. In 1974, he decided to open Falls Archery Center. He dedicated himself to its success until his well-deserved retirement. Neil enjoyed spending countless hours in the outdoors with his family and friends and he loved to hunt and fish. He arranged guided bear hunts in Canada throughout the 70’s and 80’s. His favorite place to fish was Lake Michigan and he hosted many backyard fish boils over the years. Neil purchased a piece of hunting land in Westfield and in the year 2000 he built his dream log home with Judy, where he could enjoy his retirement and hunt with his kids and grandkids. Neil will be greatly missed by his wife, Judy; daughter, Tracy Paulsen; grandchildren who knew him as Bapa, Jesse and Taylor Paulsen and Joseph and Jeremy Gilles; brothers, William (Lynn) and Steven (Sharon) Gilles; sister-in-law, Judith Gilles; daughter-in-law, Tammy Zipperer; his dog, Rascal; as well as extended family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Todd Gilles; brother, Rusty Gilles and his son in law, Brian Paulsen. A celebration of life for Neil will be held on Monday, June 26, 2023 from 4:00 to 7:00 p. m. at Crossroads Chateau, N4210 County Rd. M, Montello. Edward Talmage Ostergard, age 95 of Westfield, WI, passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 in Westfield. Edward was born on April 29, 1928 in Avon Park, Florida to Ole Christian Ostergard and Olive Anna Campbell. Edward was raised in Durand, Il. He married Zola Vera Cecil on August 25, 1950 in Sinton, Texas and lived the majority of his life in Corpus Christi, Texas. Together, they were blessed with five children. Edward worked for a short time as a Southern Baptist Minister and moved on to teaching high school English for ten years at Flour Bluff High School. After working a number of years for IDS, he and his wife started ZETOCO, a Bookkeeping and Tax Service, that he operated for 40 years. Edward had many hobbies throughout the years. He was a volunteer ham radio operator, loved to sail, and planted a garden every year in his backyard and shared his vegetables with his neighbors and friends. He enjoyed welding and made several trailers for his friends. He and his best buddy of 30 years, Thomas Duvall, built a sawmill that Thomas would run in Ed’s backyard to cut up logs they retrieved from the beach. There was always a crowd of neighbors on weekends to see what those two were working on next. Edward was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Zola Vera Ostergard; son, William Granvel Ostergard; daughter, Zola Marie Ostergard; grandson, James Ryan Kurth; parents, Ole and Olive Ostergard; brothers, William Ostergard and Harvey Ostergard and sisters, Majorie Meredith and Ellen Marie Wahl. He is survived by his brother, Morrie Ostergard; sister in law, Carolyn Ostergard; children, Richard (Kim) Ostergard, Peggy (Patrick) Coffey, Andrea (Mark) Banning; grandchildren, Richard Ostergard, James Ostergard, Carl Kurth, Keith (Mindi) Kurth, Nathan (Megan) Long, Andi (EJ) Summers and Michael (Aly) Skinner; great-grandchildren, Keiko Ostergard, Autumn Ostergard, Zoran Battle Ostergard, Brooklynn Kurth, Kail Kurth, Lorelai Kurth, Taylor Long, Paige Long, Rebel Summers and the entire Ostergard and Cecil families. There will be no service at this time. Edward will be cremated and his remains buried next to his wife, Zola at Seaside Memorial Park in Corpus Christi, Texas at a later date. Kevin John Stahl, age 57 of Coloma, WI peacefully passed into the hands of Jesus at his home surrounded by his family on Sunday, October 15, 2023. Kevin was born in Merrill, WI on November 5, 1965 to Wayne and Nancy (Albrecht) Stahl. He graduated from Berlin High School and married Marcia Hansen on June 22, 1985 at First Lutheran Church in Poy Sippi. Together they were blessed with four children. Kevin went to work for the Bureau of Prisons as a senior correctional officer and retired after a 25 year career. Later he came out of retirement and started KJS Inspections LLC and also drove truck for JB Hunt, which he thoroughly enjoyed. He loved spending time with his horses, training, tending to and especially trail riding with his wife. His other hobbies included hunting, carpentry, reading, singing off key and building puzzles. Kevin was a very hard worker and talented person; some would call him a jack of all trades. He even built the family home, kennel and barn on his property primarily by himself in a year’s time while working a full-time and part-time job. Next to home, his favorite place to be was in the Montana mountains. He was the most generous and humble person you would ever meet with an incredible sense of humor. Kevin was a kind, wonderful father who would always do anything for those he loved. He cherished every minute with his children and grandchildren, and he could never get enough of them. As a caring, tender-hearted husband, he treasured and supported his wife completely. He always strived to give his family the best of everything but also had a strong desire to help others. His encouraging and fun attitude brought out the best in people, and he will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know him. Kevin leaves behind his wife Marci of 38 years, and four amazing children: Beth (Michael) Kiska, Christopher (Erica), Toby and Sheyanne Stahl as well as six grandchildren: Olivia, Everlee, Silas, Gannon, Isaiah and Raylan. He also is survived by his parents: Wayne and Nancy Stahl along with his siblings: Greg (Darlene), Brian (Dawn), Steve (Missy) and Laura (Matt) Bondell. Kevin is further survived by his aunt, Darlene Albrecht and uncle, Roger Albrecht as well as other extended family members. Kevin is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Scarlett, paternal grandparents: Arthur and Ina (Teele) Stahl, maternal grandparents: Maxwell and Esther (Zoellner) Albrecht, aunt, Dianne Albrecht, uncle, Sherwood Albrecht and uncle Kerry (Willodean) Albrecht A Celebration of Kevin Stahl’s Life will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at 2:00 PM at River Cities Christian Church, 869 HWY 73 South, Wisconsin Rapids. William "Bill" Kiggens, 81, of Westfield, WI, passed away on Friday, September 29, 2023, after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Portage, Wisconsin, to William and Bernice Kiggens on January 8, 1942. After graduating from high school, Bill worked for a bridge construction crew that built two of the Wisconsin River bridges. He met Joan Clausen in 1962 and they married and moved to Ripon, Wisconsin where they raised three children. He briefly worked at Producer Container for Green Giant in Ripon before becoming a career agent at Rural Mutual Insurance Company for 50 years. Bill was an avid outdoorsmen and hunter. He never missed a deer hunting season and enjoyed having his family and friends hunt with him on his farm. Bill went on several hunting and fishing trips with friends and family to Wyoming, Colorado, Tennessee, and Canada as well as trips in Wisconsin and to Lake Michigan. In addition to hunting, Bill enjoyed working on his farm and traveling. He had several horses on his farm as well as his two dogs, Mollie and Emma. He made several trips out west to Colorado where he rode horses and went to rodeos. He and Joanie went to Reddington Beach, Florida several times and visited family in California and South Dakota. His most recent vacation was to Maine to enjoy fresh Maine lobster and visit Acadia National Park. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William and Bernice. He is survived by his wife, Joanie; children, Leslie (Doug) Hensen, Jeff (Kathy) Kiggens, and Angel (Peter) Cravillion; grandchildren, Nick Hensen, Alyssa Hensen, Courtney Kiggens and Cole Kiggens as well as step-grandchildren, Ethan (Jordan) Cravillion and Savanna (Wyatt) Minch: many other relatives and friends. According to Bill’s wishes, there will be no formal service. The family would like to thank the teams at UW Hospital and Agrace Hospice for their compassionate care during Bill’s illness. Gayle Bryce "Smitty" Smith, age 91 of New Berlin, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, just short of his 92nd birthday. He was born on September 26, 1931 in the Town of Springfield, Marquette County to Charles and Lillian (Sandow) Smith. Loving husband of 70 years to Leetrice (Pierce) Smith. Father of Randy (Diane) Smith, Jeffrey Smith, and Kenneth (Dawn) Smith. Beloved grandfather of 9 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Brother-in-law to Linda (Albright) Smith. Also loved by many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Douglas Smith. Gayle retired with 38 years from Pattern Makers League of North America as a wood pattern maker. He loved hunting, bowling, golfing, trap shooting and world traveling. Gayle was a life member of many associations including, but not limited to, the Air Force Sergeants Association, Armed Forces Top Enlisted Association, the National Rifle Association of America and many more. He spent four years in the Air Force during the Korean War and over 26 years in the Air Force Reserve at General Billy Mitchell Field. He was recalled to active duty in 1962 for the Cuban Crisis and had over 30 years in total service. He will be remembered for all his dedication to our country and his family. A funeral service for Gayle will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at 11:30 a. m. at Steinhaus-Holly Funeral Home in Westfield. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 10:00 a. m. until the hour of service at the funeral home. Burial with full military honors will be in Riverside "Lawrence" Cemetery, Town of Westfield. On Friday, June 9, 2023 at 6:00 a. m. , God reached down and took the hand of Bernie Weber, 79, of Harrisville, Wisconsin and released him of years of physical pain. Bernie was born in Chicago in 1944 to Frank and Rosalie (Tausz) Weber. At a young age, he took to liking trucks and wound up pursuing a career driving his own. During one of his stops, he met his wife of 58 years, Jane Bonner. On May 8, 1965, he made her an honest woman. In 1965, Bernie started his own trucking business, Weber & Sons Enterprises. He drove until 1979. He then worked at Lake County Grading, Campanella & Sons; and lastly, Bolander where he retired. At that time, they moved to Harrisville, Wisconsin where he began collecting antique tractors, tinkering in the shop, and building bird houses. Bernie is survived by his loving wife, Jane (Bonner); sons, Dustin (Christine) and Jim (Lisa); grandchildren, Zachary, Austin, Dylan, Sarah, Karlye, and Jared. He is also survived by his sister, Peg (Tom) as well as his beloved dog, Daisy Mae. Bernie was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Rosalie Weber and his brother, John. A visitation will be on Saturday, June 17, 2023 from 10:00 to 11:45 a. m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Westfield, Wisconsin with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 12:00 noon. James "Jim" Roy Goggin, age 90 of Westfield, Wisconsin passed away Saturday, March 11, 2023 at his home. Jim was born in Lesterville, Missouri on August 13, 1932 to Roy and Myrtle (Bonney) Goggin. He graduated from Lesterville High School in 1950 and immediately went to work for American Can Company in St. Louis. In 1952, he enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Korean War. Following his time in the service, he returned to American Can Company, retiring in 1987. On August 20, 1967 Jim was united in marriage to Mary Crabtree in Ellington, MO and together they enjoyed many wonderful years together; moving throughout the United States following each other's employment opportunities. Jim was an avid hunter and fisherman and in 1998, he and Mary made their hunting cabin in rural Westfield their permanent home. Jim accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at a young age and since returning to Wisconsin has been a faithful member of the River Cities Christian Church. Jim leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Mary and sister, Joyce Carty as well as sister-in-law, Darleen Goggin. He is also survived by nephews: Jim (Trudy) Carty, Brent (Rhonda) Goggin and Jerry (Patti) Goggin as well as nieces: Pam (Mike) Carrow, Beth (Michael) Moore and Linda Pippin and other extended family members. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Gerald, sister, Dorothy (Ronald) Crocker, brother-in-law, Dale Carty and nephew, George Pippin.
