In Loving Memory of Nathan Southerland Nathan Southerland, born on November 14, 1994, was a beloved young man with a heart of gold and an intelligence he modestly kept well-hidden. He departed from this world on September 26, 2023, leaving behind a void that can never be filled. Nathan's passion for music, art, gaming, and computers was evident to anyone who knew him. He had an innate talent for understanding the technological world. His eyes would light up with enthusiasm as he delved into the inner workings of digital experiences. Music was another of Nathan's great loves. His collection of tunes was vast, and he would often lose himself in the music, letting its rhythms and melodies soothe his soul. He was a talented artist and his drawings are fascinating. In addition to his love for the digital world, Nathan had a deep appreciation for the simple pleasures of life, including beloved pets and family members. He also found solace in taking long walks. The opportunity of those moments allowed him to escape the nonsense of everyday life and find peace within himself. Above all else, Nathan's heart belonged to his mother. Their bond was unbreakable, and he cherished every moment they shared. His love and devotion to her were a testament to the kind and loving son he was. Nathan was not just a wonderful son but also a caring brother, a loyal friend, a cherished nephew, and a beloved grandson. He touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His presence brought warmth to any gathering, and his absence will be keenly felt. In his later years, Nathan's smile may have been seen less frequently, but when it graced his face, it shone like a beacon of happiness. There was a genuineness to it that served as a reminder of the joy that sparked in his heart and the happiness he brought into the lives of those around him. Nathan Southerland's passing leaves a void that can never be filled, but his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. We will treasure the loving moments we shared and the enduring love he gave us. Though he has left us too soon, his spirit will continue to shine brightly in our hearts. Nathan had a special heart for single moms and anyone suffering. He was a special presence at Thriving United's G. I. F. T. Center. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Thriving United in Nathan's memory. A memorial service to celebrate Nathan's life will be held on October 14, 2023 with a walkabout to honor his strolls. All friends and well-wishers are welcome to join us in remembering this remarkable young man. We will gather at Thriving United's G. I. F. T. Center located at 301 E. Illinois. Service will begin at 4pm, although friends are welcome to begin arriving at 3:30pm. Rest in peace, Nathan, and know that you will be forever loved and missed.
