Our devoted mother, Elizabeth Schalk Terrell, passed away peacefully in her home Monday morning, January 22, 2024. In her final days, she was surrounded by her loving family with whom she had celebrated her 97th birthday only two months earlier. Elizabeth, the first born of Elizabeth and Robert Schalk, was born on November 22, 1926, in Fort Collins, Colorado. She lived with her family in Denver during her early years. When World War II intensified, the family moved to New York for her father’s profession and her parents volunteered in patriotic service for America. Later, Elizabeth attended the University of Colorado, Boulder, Colorado, and she was active with her Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. During a school break, her father arranged for Elizabeth and her friends to ride the train to Sun Valley. She met John Terrell, who was a very handsome young man in his Army uniform. Our father won her heart. And they married on June 6, 1949, at St. John’s Episcopal Cathedral in Denver, with an elegant reception at the Broodmoor Hotel, Colorado Springs, Colorado. John was a student at the University of New Mexico and they began married life in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Elizabeth worked at the University of New Mexico until their children were born. Her fondest memories were of being a mother. They had a beautiful home with a spacious yard for all the pets. Elizabeth enjoyed gardening, loved animals, had many friends, was active in the Monte Vista Elementary School, St. Mark’s Episcopal Church as well as the girls’ Brownie Scouts troop and projects. The family moved to Corona del Mar, California, where she was active in the PTA and St. James Episcopal Church. She had dogs, cats, a rabbit, and numerous other pets. Elizabeth stayed fully engaged raising her three children and took a position at the University of California, Irvine, in the English Department’s Post Doctorate School of Literary Criticism. She and John spent many a winter driving to Lake Tahoe with the dog and a pet South American Spider monkey, Walter, to visit their son’s family and had a happy retirement traveling. At 97 years of age, Elizabeth remained in her home with caregivers and home companions. Her family and caregivers enjoyed going out to lunch and taking long drives with Elizabeth daily. Elizabeth is preceded in death by her husband, A. John Terrell; parents Elizabeth W. Partridge and Robert L. Schalk; and her brother Robert L. Schalk, Jr. Survivors include: her sister-in-law Carolyn Schalk; her children Patricia Elyse Terrell, Marilee Diane Terrell, John Scott Terrell and his wife, Carole Terrell. Peter Esq

Jul 16, 1952 - Dec 02, 2023

location-icon

Corona Del Mar, CA

Peter Clinco, a respected and deeply loved figure in his circle, passed away recently. Born on July 16, 1952, Peter's life was marked by passionate commitment to both his family, enjoyment with friends, and the pursuit of knowledge. He was the beloved husband of Miranda Barone, whom he married in the happy year of 1981. Their union was blessed with two devoted sons, Matthew and David Clinco, who honored their father in everything they did. His family circle was further extended by the addition of his adored daughter-in-law, Natalie Clinco, and cherished granddaughter, Malia Clinco, and grandson Travis Clinco, who added immense joy to his life. Peter was predeceased by his father, the Honorable Mario Clinco, and mother Elizabeth Clinco of Beverly Hills, whose memory he held dear. He is survived by his wife, children, and grandchildren, who are left to treasure his memory and continue his legacy of love and dedication. Peter's pursuit of knowledge saw him graduate from the University of Southern California in 1974 and later, in 1977, from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles. The education he received became an integral part of his personality and informed much of his worldview. He began the practice of law in a Beverly Hills firm with many celebrity clients. Peter, however, treated all his clients like stars. In addition to the practice of law, Peter opened a restaurant, Skylight Gardens, in Westwood Village, West Los Angeles. It quickly became a favorite dining location. Peter raised his family in San Marino, California where he resided for 30 years. Recently Peter and his wife retired in Laguna Beach, California. A move he called the capstone of his life. He was a loyal supporter of the USC Trojans, the enthusiasm of which was matched by his love for Italy, one of his favorite vacation spots, where he and his family celebrated their heritage. However, it was his family that remained his most cherished cause, and he committed his efforts to providing them with a warm and loving environment. As we remember Peter, we reflect upon a life lived with purpose and passion - a man who loved deeply and was deeply loved. He will continue to live on in the memories of those who knew him and will remain forever in our hearts. A Cryptside Service will be held on Sunday, December 17, 2023, 2:00 pm, at Pacific View Memorial Park, 3500 Pacific View Dr. , Corona del Mar, CA. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers Please consider a contribution to Clinco Family Memorial Fund.
