Nancy Joan Troisi was born December 5, 1938 in Paterson, New Jersey to Carmela and Ralph Cilia. She had a vibrant and happy childhood shared with her three siblings, Barbara (McLaughlin), Ralph (Cilia) and Sylvia (Milowic). She enjoyed all the Italian/Sicilian traditions and parties every Sunday and every holiday with her extended family of beloved aunts, uncles and cousins. Later she would also share them with her two brother-in-laws, Leo McLaughlin and Joseph Milowic and sister-in-law, Fran Cilia and all of their children. Nancy attended St. Mary's Grammar School and High School in Paterson, New Jersey. From the age of 16, Nancy was a hairdresser perfecting her craft first at Arthur's House of Beauty in Ridgewood, New Jersey, and then later throughout her career in Wayne, New Jersey at Capri in the Willowbrook Mall, Hair Outlet on Valley Road and Gino's on Hamburg Turnpike. In her later years, Nancy was a hairdresser to friends, patients in local nursing homes and people confined to their homes, who loved her one-to-one hairdressing service as well as her kind and caring nature. Nancy's bubbly and warm personality and her great sense of humor brought her many friends and loyal customers. At the age of 17, Nancy met the love of her life, Fernando (Fred) Troisi, at a dance. There was an immediate connection. Fred was born in Italy and had only been in America for just about two years when they met. They began dating, fell in love, and celebrated their marriage with both families present on May 4, 1957. Nancy was a strong Christian with great faith in God. She kept a prayer list and a list of all the people she brought to Jesus. This was something she felt immensely happy about. She knew God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and the power of prayer. She would often tell people how she was praying for them and would also pray with them right on the spot. She attended Calvary Temple in Wayne, New Jersey for many years. She was a long-time resident of Wayne, New Jersey and then Pompton Lakes, New Jersey. One of things Nancy will always be remembered for is her hospitality, her delicious Italian cooking including her eggplant parmigiana, her chicken cutlets and mashed potatoes, and always ending a meal with "let's have coffee and cake. " She loved to feed you when you visited. Her home was an open door. She had many cherished long-time friends. The biggest blessings Nancy would tell you she ever received from God are her three children, her daughter-in-law and her four grandchildren. She is the proud mother to her only daughter, Deborah and grandmother to Deborah's children, Frank (McCagh) and Alexis (McCagh), to her oldest son, Frederick (Freddie) and Brenda (Logan) and grandmother to their children, Ryan and Tara, and to her youngest son, Robert. Nancy also loved her beloved dogs, Cameo and Bacci. Nancy had a long and wonderful life. She will always be remembered for her love of God, love of family, love of friends, love of hairdressing and desire to enjoy the simple pleasures of every day. She loved to laugh, talk on the phone and spend time cooking and being in the company of her family and friends. In her last days, she thankfully didn't suffer. Nancy was lovingly cared for by her three children, especially her son, Robert, who made it possible for her to be well-cared for in her own home, something she always wanted. Nancy passed peacefully in her sleep today without any health issues. Her time on Earth was done when God called her home. The immediate family will be holding a private burial and funeral at Scanlan Funeral Home in Pompton Plains and the Pompton Reformed Church Cemetery. We appreciate your love and support and ask that you keep our family in your prayers as we celebrate Nancy's life and now her passage into Heaven.
