Nancy Lee Rohrer, the daughter of Charles and Vera Morris, was born on May 8th, 1934, in Bridgeport, Ohio. But for a few years in Rhode Island, she grew up in Ohio, always active in church and singing in choir. In 1952, she graduated from Lehman High School in Canton, Ohio, where she was a member of the National Honors Society, the Future Teachers of America, and the National Forensics League (debate and public speaking). She worked at Harter Bank in Canton, and taught Sunday School at First Methodist Church in Canton, where she went on to be a member of the church administration. She met her husband, George Rohrer, at First Methodists, where he served as the church organist. They were married on April 27th, 1957. With their marriage, they began a lifelong adventure together. Their honeymoon was their move to Southern California, where George was working for the Jet Propulsions Laboratory at the California Institute of Technology. They travelled historic Route 66 in a two-tone 1957 Buick, documenting the way with a collection of incredible photographs. Ultimately settling in Hermosa Beach, California, they raised their three children, Carol Lynn, Charles Michael (Mike), and Robert Warren (Bob) Rohrer in their house overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Nancy was a dedicated wife and mother, unwaveringly supportive of her husband, and actively involved in her children's lives. She shared her husband's passion for music, and would stop everything to sing along when he broke into a hymn on the piano or organ, always knowing the words from memory. She was a brownie and girl scout leader, a cub scout den mom, a band mom, as well as a teachers' aide and administrative aid in the local middle school. All the while, she was George's partner in adventures, from camping in the Sierras to driving jeep trails in Baja California, and carving their own niche high in the east Mojave desert. She was an avid reader, unbeatable at Gin Rummy, and there was never a better meal than one she cooked over a campfire from wood she collected herself. With her duties as a mom completed, she returned to school. Attending college classes alongside her youngest son, she earned an associates degree in accounting, of course never seeing anything but straight "A"s. With her husband's retirement, they moved to Mesa, Arizona, spending mornings poolside and evenings watching the desert sunsets. After her beloved husband passed in 2020 Nancy lived her final years in Maryland. This move brought her new adventures traveling the east coast from Delaware to Florida and many states in between. She enjoyed many summer days on the patio and greeting new friends young and, and many 4-legged ones as well. She loved spending time with her 4 generations of family, and she was blessed to welcome her 4th great grandchild last year. Nancy was a tough woman with a heart of gold. Everyone she met became a new friend. She was shaped by her faith with unfaltering love for her family. Nancy passed peacefully on April 19th, at home with her family by her side. She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Carol Jones (Mark), Charles "Mike" Rohrer (Randi), and Robert "Bob" Rohrer (Lupe), as well as six grandchildren, Christopher Jones, Jasmine Kuzela (Steve), Doug Rohrer (Adriane), Katelyn Rohrer, Britni Rohrer Toolan (Sam), and Alison Rohrer, and four great grandchildren, William Preston Toolan, Rhylan Jackson Toolan, Talulah Rai Toolan, and Zoey Renee Rohrer. She was deeply loved by all and will be missed.
