Nancy A, Hadden, 85, of Cerro Gordo, passed away at 1:39 pm on Friday, September 8, 2023, at Carle Hospital in Champaign, IL. The Family would like to welcome friends from 4:00 – 7:00 PM on Monday, September 11, 2023 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home in Cerro Gordo, IL. Eastern Star services will be held at 7:00 PM at the funeral home. A Funeral Ceremony will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home in Cerro Gordo with burial to follow at Cerro Gordo Cemetery. Memorials in Nancy’s honor may be made to her family. Nancy was born on October 21, 1937, in Decatur, to Lorin E. and Vera V. (Tussing) Babcock. She married Max E. Hadden on March 1, 1957 and he preceded her in death on December 13, 1991. Nancy worked for the Cerro Gordo School district as a cook and janitor. She and her husband, along with another couple, helped start the Cerro Gordo Booster Club. Nancy began working for Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes in 1993, and quickly became a part of the Brintlinger and Earl family where she continued to be a vital part of the Cerro Gordo and Decatur funeral homes. Nancy was a member of the Macon County Farm Bureau and helped volunteer with the bi-monthly blood drives. She organized and coordinated many trips for the Macon County Prime Time travelers. Her love of travel led her to able to visit all 50 states, which was a lifelong goal. Nancy had a passion for music. She began teaching music while she was in high school and played music with her family in the Tom Cat Band. Her love of music has spread through her community and her family, including her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She played the piano and organ for local churches and the funeral home for most of her adult life. She also had a love of knitting. She lovingly created baby blankets, afghans, slippers, wash cloths, and Christmas stockings for each of her family members. Nancy was a member of Eastern Star for 61 years, Cerro Gordo American Legion Auxiliary #117 for 45 years, Red Hat Ladies of Cerro Gordo, Cerro Gordo Women’s Club, and was an active member of Oakley Brick Church of the Brethren in Oakley, IL, where she played the organ every Sunday. She is survived by her three daughters: Betty (Mark) Gosda of Cerro Gordo, IL. , Diana Seitz of Sullivan, IL. , and Kathy (Tom) Rudelich of Bradenton, FL. ; 13 grandchildren: Lenette, David, Dale, Eric, Marsha, Gregory, Gabe, Lorin, Danny, Kevin, Kelsy, Bryant, and Anna; 17 great-grandkids; 4 great-great-grandkids; along with her special sister-in-law, Linda Babcock of Rio Verde, AZ; and her special nieces, Christy and Merilee. Nancy is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Max; brother, Dave Babcock; grandson, Michael Rudelich; infant grandson, Nicholas; one infant great-granddaughter; and two infant great-grandsons.

A service to honor Anna's life will be held at 10:00 a. m. , Tuesday, December 5, 2023, in Dawson & Wikoff North Chapel. The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday evening from 5:00 p. m. until 7:00 p. m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Anna was born August 30, 1939, in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Ernest and Mary (Spoon) Gerk. She married Doyle L. Blackwell on December 19, 1959, husband of 53 years. He preceded her in death on December 9, 2012. Anna had spent her working career as a bookkeeper for many area businesses. She was affiliated with the 2nd Church of God Church. Anna enjoyed traveling, camping, attending auction sales, and antiquing. She was very proud of her Blackwell family heritage and best described as a very kind and sweet lady, willing to help anyone who had a need. She also in her later years enjoyed socializing with her friends at McDonald's on Pershing Road over a cup of coffee. At the young age of 18, Delfin set out on a transformative journey to Alaska in 1974, under the influential guidance of Clemmie Webster and Charles Scott. This pivotal decision laid the foundation for a life devoted to martial arts and the pursuit of knowledge. His dedication and disciplined approach led him to achieve the equivalent of a Doctorate in Philosophy in Martial Arts and life knowledge. Delfin not only practiced martial arts; he embraced the ethos of "Bushido" - The Way of the Warrior. His life was a testament to the principles of honor, integrity, and loyalty that define this ancient Japanese code. Through his actions, he embodied the virtues of courage, benevolence, respect, honesty, honor, and loyalty, inspiring those around him to follow in his footsteps. Internationally Certified Instructor, Delfin Labrador, held prestigious titles, including 8th Dan Shudokan Karatedo, 6th Dan International Karate Assoc, 4th Dan Shindo Jinen Ryu Karate jutsu, 5th Dan Shihokarano Ryu Jujutsu, 3rd Dan Yoshinkan Aikido, and 2nd Dan Nakamura Ryu Battodo, among others. Dr. Charles O. Stanley, 97, of Decatur, IL died peacefully at Summit Hills in Spartanburg, SC on Monday November 27, 2023. Visitation will be Saturday, December 2, 10 AM at Central Christian Church in Decatur, IL with Celebration of Life Service following at 11 AM. There will be a private burial in Graceland Cemetery. Dr. Stanley was born December 29, 1925, in Decatur to a family of physicians. His father Dean Stanley, grandfather Otis Orien Stanley and great-grandfather Halstead Applegate were all physicians. In 1950, Charles Stanley received a medical degree from University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago and then interned at Philadelphia General Hospital. After serving in the US Navy Medical Corps during the Korean War from 1952-54 (one year at a US Naval Hospital in Philadelphia and the other year as a ship physician on troop transports which went many places including Germany, France, the Caribbean, Korea, Washington State, and Panama). Dr. Stanley completed a three-year fellowship in internal medicine at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. He practiced internal medicine with his father and grandfather in 1957. His brother Dr. Paul R. Stanley joined the practice in 1964. Dr. Charles retired from active practice in 1999. Dr. Stanley was a member and past president of the Macon County Medical Society, a member of the staff at Decatur Memorial Hospital and a member of the staff at St. Mary's Hospital. He was a member of Illinois State Medical Society, the American Medical Association, the American College of Physicians and a diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine. He was a member of Central Christian Church, and the Country Club of Decatur. He married Mary Lou Reid in 1955 and they were married 67 wonderful years. Surviving are his wife Mary Lou; his son, Bill Stanley of Atlanta, GA; daughters, Patti Moran of Spartanburg, SC; Sara Ann Reynolds of Seattle, WA; grandsons, Charles (Lindsey) Floyd of Spartanburg, SC; Patrick Moran of Spartanburg, SC; granddaughters, Jamie Moran of Little River, SC; Katherine (Tucker) Hopp of Seattle, WA; Elizabeth (Peter) Gruene of Newport Beach, CA; Jennifer (Don) Bollard of Santa Monica, CA; Hannah Reynolds of Bentonville, AR; two great-granddaughters, Ruby Gruene and Georgia Hopp. Dr. Charles Stanley was deeply respected and greatly loved by his family and the community. He enjoyed life and loved traveling with his wife. They had many adventures together. Dr. Charles will be truly missed.Show more

William "Bill" Meredith Fiesler 88, of Decatur, IL peacefully passed away at 9:52 p. m. , Saturday November 25, 2023, in Decatur Memorial Hospital. A service to celebrate Bill's life will be held at 11:00 a. m. , Friday December 1, 2023, at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion, IL. Bill will be laid to rest next to his wife, Jennie, in the Marrowbone Township Cemetery, Bethany, IL. Memorials may be made to the Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church. The family later moved to Decatur, IL where Bill worked in the family business, Gas & Electric Sales and Service Company and farmed the family land in Macon and Moultrie Counties. He married Jennie Hudson on August 4, 1956. She preceded him in death on August 9, 2012. Bill was a member of the Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church, a member of the Farm Bureau and a longtime member of the Elk's Lodge. He enjoyed boating on Lake Shelbyville, playing poker with his friends and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. Bill and Jennie also loved traveling to Florida to visit with family. Surviving are his children: Dr. William L. Fiesler of Decatur, Thomas Fiesler (Jane) of Decatur, and Cindy Kathe (David) of St. Charles, IL; daughter-in-law: Bonnie Fiesler of Decatur; sister: Carol Williamson (Ed) of Coral Gables, FL; grandchildren: Melissa DeDecker (Brian) and their two sons: Wyatt and Weston of Adel, IA, Amanda Bordewick (Ryan) of Downers Grove, IL, Melinda Mazure and her son Brady of Reston, VA, Meredith Hottinger (Eric) and their son: Hudson and daughter: Emilia of Nesconset, NY, Jessica Kathe of Milwaukee, WI and Kevin Kathe of Seattle, WA. Samuel James Fakes, 85, of Decatur, IL passed away on Monday, November 13, 2023. A service to honor and celebrate Samuel's life will be held at 12:00 p. m. on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at Dawson & Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation one hour prior to the service. Samuel will be laid to rest at Macon County Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be directed to DOVE Inc. or the American Cancer Society. Samuel was a loving and caring person who was born on May 19, 1938 in Gunnison, MS to James Skipper and Katie West. Samuel met and married Mary Powell on January 30, 1965 and to that union came four children. On April 24, 1999 he married Edith Mae Allston. Samuel enjoyed shooting targets on his back porch, gardening and sitting in his chair watching westerns. He worked at F. W. Means, Aramark, where he drove trucks and worked at Decatur Public Transit as a driver and before retiring he worked as a dispatcher. Samuel leaves to cherish, not mourn, his wife: Edith Mae Fakes; daughters: Barbara (James) Randell, Judy Lee and Robin (Billy) Lee; son: Deon Fakes; brother: Arthur (Annie) Fakes; nephews: Clyde Skipper, Arthur Gates and Tavon Fakes; nieces: Brenda Mitchell, Gwen Mitchell, Toni Fakes-Garner, Yolonda Booth, LaDana Fakes; Also, a host of great nieces, one great nephew and a host of in-laws. Sam has five grandsons: Shacolby Randell, RonRecco Lee, Shaylin Randell, Dominion Hayes and Justin Powell and ten great grandchildren: Justin, Alivia, Britton, Bryson, Jett, Jaxson, Ryu, Cason, Dawson, Ellison and Jocilin.
